Offical...Haye retires!
Just seen it on sky sports. Really would have thought he would have fought Vitali. He obviously knew he couldn't beat him. shame really, but after that performance it's pretty clear Haye doesn't belong in the klitschos class.

enjoyed the build up tho didnt you?
i'd expect it will be a while before we have another HW championship fight to look forward to now, ill probably be well into my 40s

Shame really as he's the only "hw" worth a PPV. Don't care what anyone says and despite myself not being a Haye fan - the Klitschkos are a couple of bitches that will continue to pat each other on the backs until....doubt it will happen....another true decent hw comes on the scene.....and they'll prob just retire! And don't get me started on those that rate them in their top 5's of all time......pah!

no, no i didn't, what was there to enjoy? 3 crap fights at HW, 2 Worst Fight of the Year Nominations, and a load of bullshit talked that was never backed up and then later blamed his crappiest performance on a busted toe , it's official David Haye is the biggest pussy in boxing today, well actually no he isn't anymore seeing how he quit that as well, all Haye did with his "HW career" was manage to give the division a worse rep than it already had, instead of being it's savior all he did was further damage the image of what was once the greatest division in the sport
-
Re: Offical...Haye retires!
They guy had some talent... but was lacking in the bollocks department when it counted, laughing to the bank I guess.

Well said.
I don't really care less about the man and he will go down as one of the more insignificant HW champions. The man was only a part time boxer anyway and even when he did fight it was people like Audley Harrison because apparently people were begging for it.

Re: Offical...Haye retires!
We can all call him for that bad performance against Wlad. Although he never fought anyone of note before the Wlad fight he did get people talking about the heavyweight division again.
I think he knows that Wlad and Vitali are just to big for him thats why he isnt fighting Vitali.
-
Re: Offical...Haye retires!
he had some talent - you can't deny that
Too short a career and too few fights. More interested in money than legacy, how many fights was it 25-26 ? Thats pathetic
Can't believe he is not at least going to give it one more go and just take a gamble in the ring with them.
I fear we will never know how good the Klitschkos are in all-time terms. Their size advantages are just too great to properly judge them I feel.
We should all get behind Tyson Fury. At least then we won't be able to moan that they always beat up little guys.
Mark TKO
Team Fury

Re: Offical...Haye retires!
sadly i think he goes in the same category as Henry Akinwande Frank Bruno and Herbie Hide as Brits who have held a portion of the Heavyweight Championship.
-
Re: Offical...Haye retires!
I get the feeling that if the Klitschkos werent around Haye wouldnt have retired. That tells its own story
Haye would have been remembered fondly had he not had his last fight. That 1 loss seems to have detracted from his whole career. Its the wrong way to go out IMO but thats his choice and if people remeber him alongside Audley then so be it. If he went out swiging vs Vitali he would have redeemed his rep somewhat.

Yes, it totally detracts from an ancient retired Ruiz and Audley Harrison. That entire loss seems to have overshadowed the previous scams.

Re: Offical...Haye retires!
Good!
Hayes only reason for going to heavyweight was Klitschko v Sanders. He thought he could be as aggressive. He found out he couldnt and has no desire to fight any other of the top heavies, as although mediocre they would beat him too. Adamek beats him, or would have if Haye wasnt such a pussy.
-
Re: Offical...Haye retires!
well life goes on. I couldn't care less about what he does, I'd just see him fight Vitali because his childish behaviors got under my skin and I'd like to see him knocked out but beside, he didn't deliver and didn't bring on the table any words that were in his mouth. By David, fake or real retirement, we couldn't care less.

Yeah his heavyweight career was crap and he never excited at the weight but he was good at cruiser. I'd say best ever behind Holyfield.

If we are getting into P4P listing's then I will nod my head and doze off. James Toney would have thrashed him.

I think so too. Haye defended his belt how many times at CW? And would be considered a near best ever? Not in a million years.
His rep will shrink over the years and so it should. He is rich though and can avoid the internet. He won in his own weird way.
A great careerist as I ALWAYS said!

Re: Offical...Haye retires!
Sad Sad news... now we will never get to see the Haye Vs Harrison rematch... its a dark dark day for heavyweight boxing.
Seriously thou he got alot of people to buy into his hype and made a shitload of money out of it so you have to give the guy credit.... I don't begrudge him a penny.

can't hold that against him, he didn't get a cent from me, but it just annoys me how people even after being duped by the guy still defend him and make excuses for him when it's clear that his career at HW was nothing more than a con job
-
Re: Offical...Haye retires!
If he really did have a broke toe wouldn't he want a rematch? He played us all like suckers. First Harrison was going to be the next Lennox Lewis. Then Haye was going to rule the HW division. Sad day for british boxing.:(

Forgive me sir.

Re: Offical...Haye retires!
Yeah, just to add to the whole um thing, he should petition the hall of fame on his own behalf.
"Hello , Who?"
-
I never bought the hype, he could be compared to Hamed but hell that's a stretch....Haye was just a big mouth, all hat and no cattle trying to be a cowboy.
I told ya so!
