Marquez was ROBBED and it wasn't even close!
The previous two fights were at least relatively close because of the KD's, but this fight was so easy to score for Marquez. The rounds Marquez took were so easy to see and even in losing rounds he was still incredibly competitive.
I had Marquez winning 8-4. Not even close.
It was an outright robbery.
Thoughts?

Re: Marquez was ROBBED and it wasn't even close!
I thought Marquez was robbed but a lot of the rounds were close. Have to rewatch it. Had marquez winning 7 rounds to 5. General clamor here in the Philippines is that marquez did indeed win the fight fwiw.
-
It was a close fight. But like u, I think JMM won. It was a lot of close rounds. Saying that, I can't be mad at the decision. Pacman was the aggressor.
JMM vs Bradley next!?!
-
Re: Marquez was ROBBED and it wasn't even close!
9-3 Marquez. Worst robbery in the history of boxing

I like the idea of JMM vs Bradley. Think JMM would win given Bradley's come forward style. Still, a good fight. Definitely 100 times better than the bradley casa fight.

Re: Marquez was ROBBED and it wasn't even close!
Marquez won, but I wouldn't call it a robbery. It was a fight that had several very close rounds.
Marquez should have won though.
-
Re: Marquez was ROBBED and it wasn't even close!
This is beyond disgusting. im done
-
Re: Marquez was ROBBED and it wasn't even close!
Anyway you look at it. Juan Juan, Juan one, Juan #1 Juan Won!
Anyone can be a boxing Judge if you can show them you will hold boxings future above any fighter.
-
Re: Marquez was ROBBED and it wasn't even close!
Marquez was robbed. I don't say that for close fights but we had about 15 people in the house watching this one and only 1 person said it was close and that was said with a smile. Its way too telling when you consider that one judge gave Pac 8 of the first 11 rounds. Even if the judge wanted to favor Pac there wasn't even 8 rounds of the first 11 that could've have gone either way. That means you have to take some of Marquez's rounds and that is a robbery.
-
Re: Marquez was ROBBED and it wasn't even close!
I was mortified on seeing Pac's name called, it was a sickening feeling. In close fights you kind of think 'fair enough someone had to take it', but this wasn't even close. Marquez was taking most of those early rounds at a canter. Manny just couldn't get off and looked stiff. He woke up a little down the stretch, but his own corner was telling him he needed to do more.
This is significantly worse than the decisions of the past two fights.
-
It was a good fight , but no doubt Marquez won that. Manny just couldn't get inside enough but that was due to Marquez' fantastic boxing ability. He put on a hell of a peformace tonight and should have got the nod.
I was watching the fight with people who don't even follow boxing properly and they knew Manny lost that fight.
Where does this fight go from here now?
-
Re: Marquez was ROBBED and it wasn't even close!
Besides Mayweather is Legit 2nd best or argueably best fighter of this generation and gets hosed 3 fights in a row. My friend who isint a boxing fab was like WTF how could pac be the winner
-
Re: Marquez was ROBBED and it wasn't even close!
BTW, I had to say this. I believe Ricky Hatton/British fans should never talk about robberies, that is all.;)

I had the same score. 7-5 at the WORST for Marquez.
Sadly, the writing was on the wall, all they kept talking about was the looming $100 million dollar fight between Pacquaio and Mayweather so there was no way Marquez was going to interfere with that.
The decision did not come as a shock to me, but it was a robbery just the same.
SCUMBAGS !

Close fights are not robberies. This was not even close.
Hatton/Collazo comes nowhere near.

It was a fight of two halves. Hatton dominated the first half and Collazo came on strong.
I will accept that it could have gone either way and a draw would have been fair enough.
This couldn't go either way. There were too many straightforward rounds.
Nobody is arguing Manny's case here unlike with Hatton/Collazo.

Re: Marquez was ROBBED and it wasn't even close!
if mayweather fights paqman he will have to knock him out going off what happened to nite and not just out class him which he will no doubt do and the 3 judges should never be let near a boxing ring again its disgusting Hat people will do 4 a back hander
-
Re: Marquez was ROBBED and it wasn't even close!

Pacman aggressor?????? He was in desperation mode after about the 7th round, even the commentator said it. I had Marquez wining 8-4. Pacman knows deep down he lost that fight. But the boxing association is not what it used to be, its all fixed, its all about money. Forget about what it does to these boxers that have trained all thier lives, to come into a ring only to be robbed of a fight. Marquez was asked if he would fight pacman again, and he said he wasn't sure. I dont blame him, I'm sure his moral is down after being robbed for the 2nd time. I think something stinks here.......I'm so angry !!!

Re: Marquez was ROBBED and it wasn't even close!
pacquiao was the aggressor all throughout and had some connect on marquez but couldn't hit him cleanly and clearly missed on a lot of his haymakers. on the other hand, marquez was quite successful with his countering and connected more cleanly but wasn't quite active enough him being the challenger. i thought it could have been a draw and would have been satisfied with a close decision either way. even quite a number of filipinos thought pacquiao lost coz he really looked bad and couldn't execute and it was such a letdown of the people's expectations of him completely dominating in the fight. i don't think it was a robbery though coz if you go by the punchstats you can clearly see that it was another close fight that could have gone either way.

Although some fans doubted the accuracy of the judges’ scoring, the computer stats proved Marquez wasn’t robbed. Pacquiao had more punches landed, 176 to 138 and more punches thrown, 578 to 436. Clearly, Pacquiao used his trademark as a volume puncher to pile up points over the more precise but less busy Marquez.

Re: Marquez was ROBBED and it wasn't even close!
I was one of those with Marquez as a sentimental favorite but I was at work and did not get the results until two hours after the fight was over. The sports stations all said JMM was the clear winner and one judge as I understand it had his head in the clouds. This facilitates the argument that came from the writings of many on this web site that like in football, let's go to the video. This has been the year for the inept officials of boxing and we have a record high of an attack of idiocy.
-
Re: Marquez was ROBBED and it wasn't even close!
It was a super close fight, I don't know how anyone could have it 116-112 for Pacquiao or Marquez, I didn't score rounds and just enjoyed the amazing level of skill and determination on board, but Pacquiao probably won as many rounds as Marquez, but Marquez certainly won some rounds much more decisively then any of Manny's rounds, and Marquez really was landing the better punches though Manny landed quite a bit more.

There were not that many straightforward rounds to this fight, Marquez clearly won maybe 3 rounds, but I saw at least 2-3 rounds Pacquiao clearly won, the rest were a toss up. Manny landed a lot of hard, clean shots as well, and he blocked a lot of what Juan threw. I think this was a really even fight both in terms of rounds and how they matched up.

It was EXTREMELY close.
I posted last night after 11 rounds that I had an 8-3 extremely close fight.

That's the fight I saw as well. 4 clearly for each and four where I nearly threw up my hands. I gave all four of the close ones to JMM. But one could EASILY have gone the other way.

Re: Marquez was ROBBED and it wasn't even close!
Manny won 2 rounds max
Robbery , total robbery
Anyone who thinks Manny won is retarded or don't know shit
