Re: How did you score Pac/Marquez 3?
This was my round by round from last night
Round 1: more or less even, Pacquiao landed a nice left, Marquez landed good shots to the body
Round 2: Marquez, lands the cleaner sharper punches, Pacquiao throwing a lot of jabs and faking but not landing anything
Round 3: Marquez, lands more clean punches to the head and body, Pacquiao not throwing enough, only landed a good right hook
Round 4: Pacquiao, finally starts throwing more and landing the left, Marquez lands a couple nice right counters but is out worked and out landed
Round 5: Marquez, effectively counters Pacquiao throughout the round, landing the better punches
Round 6: Marquez, Marquez landed some nice counter overhand rights
Round 7: Marquez, landing the harder sharper counter punches, Pacquiao can't avoid the uppercut nor the overhand right
Round 8: Marquez, Manny has no answer for the counter punches, he backs up in angles and still is caught
Round 9: Pacquiao, lands good combos, Marquez still lands good counters but takes most the round off
Round 10: Marquez, pretty slow paced round, Marquez lands better counter punches and Pacquiao looks distracted by the blood
Round 11: Marquez, counter punching, counter punching, counter punching, for every left Pacquiao lands, Marquez lands a flurry of hard rights, left hooks and uppercuts
Round 12: Pacquiao, stalked most the round, but Marquez landed the better punches
My Final Score: 117 Marquez 113 Pacquiao, Winner Marquez

Re: How did you score Pac/Marquez 3?
I had it 7-5 Marquez but that was giving Pacquiao everything it was possible to give him. 8-4 is a good score too.
I'm disgusted by this and think I am done with boxing - it just seems pointless now.
I know people might think that if you score it by just 2 to one guy you can't call it a robbery if the other guy gets it BUT to give that one to Pacquiao you had to score rounds for him that he just did not win in any way shape or form.
-
Re: How did you score Pac/Marquez 3?
^Good outline of the fight. I think it's safe to say that Marquez won by a decent margin - despite Arum proclaiming after the fight that it would only be Mexicans that had him ahead. What a racist money-grubbing pig... sad that his cash cow just took a beating.
-
Re: How did you score Pac/Marquez 3?
The end of the night I gave it 8 rounds to 4 Marquez. I had a floater in there which I originally gave to Marquez in which it would have been 9 rounds to 3.Then I said " ah let the champ have one.

Re: How did you score Pac/Marquez 3?

wtf did Pacquiao do in those two rounds other than throw bounce and miss, and the few shots he did land were met immediately with counter punches, honestly don't know what fucking fight you were watching dude

Re: How did you score Pac/Marquez 3?
I thought Marquez was robbed. 118-110
It was the worst fight out of the 3. Both guys were too cautious and slower than they used to be. Looks like both are past their best and the fight never really caught fire despite afew good exchanges. Marquez always in control and showed that the wieght wasnt an issue but neither guy commited so they both left it in the hads of the judges.
-
Re: How did you score Pac/Marquez 3?
Watching it now will post my scores in a bit.....round 1 hard to judge will give it to pac - head shots over body shots wins it for me this round
-
Re: How did you score Pac/Marquez 3?
8-3 and 1 tied in favour of Marquez.
So i guess that would be 117-112

Re: How did you score Pac/Marquez 3?
See above for Rd 1 :)
Rd2 - JMM
Rd3 - JMM
Rd4 - JMM
Rd5 - JMM - Clear win
Rd 6 - Pac - good work from both and if you favoured JMM's work no argument from me could have gone either way
Rd7 - JMM, landed some good shots. one thing i notice with JMM he doesn't always follow through with his shots he is happy to land and get away. He could cause more damage if he committed to his shots a bit more
Rd8 - JMM
Rd9 - Pac. Great round, plenty of 2 way traffic but Pac probably landed more quality shots. When he lets his combos go he has a lot of success. Marquez doing well to stay away and not get trapped on the ropes.
Rd 10 - Pac, but close another round that others could see different.
R11 - pac, ditto 10
R12 - JMM not a lot of action but Marquez edged it.
Jmm 115 - 113 Pac I think, if my maths is right
I think there was some rounds without a lot of action which made them hard to score but overall JMM landed the better shots, His movement was great he didnt get drawn in to an all out war but when there was exchanges he was holding his own. Pac seemed unable to close the gap effectively and he was bouncing around too much without doing much, why wasn't he exploding in to attacks and throwing a high volume of punches from different angles? Jmm was in great condition (both were)
Round 1 could have been given to Marquez, as could round 11 and some other rounds you can change round who you gave them to but either way you look at it JMM wins.
Pac did not seem as though he thought he won but of course he isn't going to say that. Wasn't as bad as Lewis v Holyfield 1 but the wrong guy definitely got the decision i reckon. Good fight though.
People will forget about this when all the casual fans start shouting for Pac vs Mayweather to happen in May

2 of the judges had Pac actually up 4 rounds to 2 after 6 rounds.
they all thought Pac won round 2. Which I'm perplexed by. That was Marquez's round.
Which didn't make sense. When you score a fight there are rounds you score for 1 guy and you could flip as you admit it was a close close round. Round 3 was like that to me. Round 2 wasn't!!!
Round 8- 2 of the judges disagreed with you. Another round I scored for Marquez and didn't put close beside to indicate it could easily be flipped.
-
Re: How did you score Pac/Marquez 3?
Probably Marquez by 2 but I wasn't surprised by Pac getting the decision
The judge who gave it Pac by 4 wants sacking
But how many times we said this over last 20 years
-
Re: How did you score Pac/Marquez 3?
I had a clear victory for Marquez 8 rounds to 4.
I gave Marquez rounds 2,3,4,5,7,8,11,12.
I gave Pacquiao rounds 1,6,9,10
Most rounds were competitive but Marquez edged most of them out with the cleaner harder shots and the better ring generalship.
Marquez's work wasn't pretty but it was effective and it was certainly better than what Pacquiao was able to do round by round.
Pacquiao had a good case for winning their first two fights ( I thought he won the first and lost the second) but this third fight was definitely Marquez's night and it got robbed from him.
I will rewatch the fight later and post my second scorecard because when i scored it first time i was very tired. :)

by 4. He gave Marquez the 12th round. I thought Pac won that round. It is almost as if he gave that round to Marquez because he didn't want to turn in a 117-111 scorecard.

he thought Pac won 8 of the first 11 rounds. NO matter how you scored the fight, someone turning in that scorecard shouldn't be able to judge again.

Re: How did you score Pac/Marquez 3?
7 to 5 Marquez, that was giving everything but the kitchen sink to Pac

It's one thing i love about boxing is how everyone can see a fight different but not the extent that a clear win for 1 guy is not given to him. People are saying they are going to watch the fight again and see if their scores are any different, Maybe if the judges watched the fight again on tv away from the live crowd and concentrate 100% they might see it different too. (not that anything could be done about it)
Some rounds could be flipped as you say but no way did Manny win the fight. JMM must be so disheartened after that I would be amazed if he would want to go through another tough training camp just to risk having a win taken from him.

Here is my scorecard:
1. Pac
2. JMM
3. JMM
4. Pac
5. Pac
6. JMM
7. JMM
8. JMM
9. Pac
10. JMM

115-113 for JMM...
Rd. 1 nothing much to chose from but rd goes to the champion.
Rd. 7, at the conclusion of this rd Freddy tells Manny "You need to use your hand speed. Your letting him get off on you Manny. You need more combinations"
Rd. 12 was a close rd in the sense that I felt JMM landed more shots but I think Pac wanted the rd more and he closed it out stronger with the rally and a left hand he landed.
In a similar rd, rd. 4 where it was close Pac landed more shots and eventough JMM wanted the rd more and closed it out strong with a right hand I didn't think it was enough to win it.

Re: How did you score Pac/Marquez 3?
I just downloaded the fight to rescore it. I'll post my card when I'm done.
When I watched it live I felt that Marquez had won by a decent margin, but there were several close rounds.

This is the score I had. Only giving Pac 2 rd's. Just didnt push enough. It looked like he was cautious to throw incase he got counted, which is exactly what happened. If this Manny turns up against Floyd, he wont win a single round.

Re: How did you score Pac/Marquez 3?
I had it JMM 7 to 5 MP today after rewatching it from Mannys point of view.
Some very close rounds.

Re: How did you score Pac/Marquez 3?
just rewatched the fight, and again scored the fight 8 rounds to 4 for JMM, this is a rare occasion that you have to tell the Pacquiao fanboys to rewatch the fight with an unbiased opinion and with audio off

Re: How did you score Pac/Marquez 3?
1 Even
2 Marquez
3 Marquez
4 Pacquiao
5 Marquez
6 Pacquiao
7 Marquez
8 Marquez
9 Marquez
10 Marquez
11 Pacquiao
12 Pacquiao
After rewatching it only slightly different 7-4-1 for JMM.
-
Re: How did you score Pac/Marquez 3?
I had it 8-4 Marquez. I felt that the Marquez won more decisive round where as I gave the closer rounds to Pacquiao because of the 'you have to beat the champ' myth, anything lower than 7-5 marquez is not right. So far every person I have spoken to had marquez winning and the only person who didn't is a friend of mine and he's a little slow and believed what Ledderman was saying.
-
Re: How did you score Pac/Marquez 3?
8-4 Marquez. I was another that could have had it around 9-3 but didn't really wanna score even.
The amazing thing to me was that Pacquiao won this fight without winning ONE single round DECISIVELY.
Anyone who gave Pacquiao the 12th, I don't understand what they were smoking. Most people seemed to give it to him..I don't know if it was out of pity..He did fuck all but stalk Marquez and when he got brave enough to lash out, Marquez got the better of the exchanges. I stick by that this was a ROBBERY.

Re: How did you score Pac/Marquez 3?
Marquez definitely won round 12. Pac simply didn't do enough to deserve it IMO.
In fact over the course of the fight, I am struggling to see how compubox has Marquez being so outlanded. Is Manny so fast that some of these punches are invisible. He is throwing, but I am not seeing all that much landing clean.
HBO are in the toilet with the way they carry on too. Steward needs to be canned as he talks a lot of bollocks.
-
Re: How did you score Pac/Marquez 3?
pac 1,3,4,6,9,10,12
mar 2,5,7,8,11
i think marquez could have had both the 10th and 12th if he had asserted himself. but he just sat back in the 10th when it looked like he could have taken control by applying pressure. and did NOTHING in the 12th.
-
Re: How did you score Pac/Marquez 3?
I already posted my first score on the day in another post.
On review I had it closer..Heres where I changed my mind*
Marquez/Pac
10/9 double body shot as well being 2 clear ahead.
10 /9 Thought about even but had Juan up by one shot, relieved cause even the replay shows he scores two to one in the area I thought.
9/10 * changed my mind totally here.
10/9
10/9
10/10 I had a tick on Juans side to denote if I had to split it would just go to him,but I left it alone.*
10/9
9/10 did have it even but gave to Manny on slight more work rate.*
10/9
9/10
9/10 changed my mind totally here*
10/10
116/114

Giving pacquiao round 5 is beyond criminal.
