Margarito may represent Mexico but he was actually born in Torrance California.. Where i live.. One reason why i feel the connection.. I also know Robert Garcia's nephew Pelos so i used to frequently visit the Oxnard Gym and let me tell you, Margarito is one of the realest individuals out there.. A man's man..
I became of fan of this guy after watching him almost kill 6Head Lewis but what really opened my eyes was his short documentary leading up to the first Cintron fight.. This guy has been with his girl from the beginning of his career but even after success, he stuck by her... Most guys in his position would have cheated on their wives or straight up dumped them but not Margarito.. He kept it 100%.... To me, that shows character, how loyal he can be.. He aint no fake ass nice guy like Pacman who have kids out of wetlock with all his other shady activities behind the scene.. fuck that.
Besides all that, I just admire his style.. A guy like him was never blessed with natural talents so he had to earn his the hard way, the old school way.. He had to work harder than his foes to even up with them, dude just had to run that extra mile.. Guys who actually box would really understand how hard it is to be in Margi's shoes.. He's all about tenacity and guy has to take more punishment just for the victory... unlike guys who are blessed with shitload of talents.. Margarito is the epitome of a blue-collared fighter and he should be an inspiration to everybody..

This is a credit society and one fuck up doesnt mean that your whole credit goes down the drain.. He's always been known as a standup guy who never badmouthed anybody and if somebody deserves a benefit of a doubt, it's him.. He has good credit..
I remember everyone loved this guy up until the mosley fight, but now that he's had one fuck up, ya wanna paint him as the devil? gtfo shit happens, we pay for it, and move on..

Only seen a few of his fights and he is exciting. on the loaded wraps yeah it's shit but people fuck up everyday, Cotto lucky to be ok which is good. Marg deserves to come again.

A healthy Margarito has the style/tools to beat Cotto 10/10 but now he's at a handicap with his eye combined with the beating he took from Cotto..
I dont think his eye will hold up long enough to make for a long grueling FOTY type fight.. It could turn out to be a great fight but a short one..
If cotto wins, it's because of margarito's handicap so it'll be hard for any unbias fan to give him full credit..
The Ricans will praise him to the fullest of course and it's understandable but the unbias fans should give him partial credit..

I was a huge Margarito fan and I would still love to see him win however its not the same for me aymore and its not because he tried to cheat its more because of his attitude about it afterwards. He should man up to it and or at least apologize for something that happened on his team; for someone who runs after everyone in the ring I am surprised to see him running and hiding behind words, trainers, and managers about something outside of it.
Now do I want him to win? Ya I would like to see him win partly so he can redeem himself a bit, to show that his biggest victory wasnt a fluke and the other part just because I want him to ruin the Cotto parade. Nothing against Cotto, it just makes it more interesting/fun for me afterwards, talking to people I know about boxing in person, talking to people on the forum here, but as long as its a good fight I'll be happy to pay for this PPV and am excited about this fight.

I will admit to being a Margarito fan, he wore the JCC red headband when he fought Cotto, hated when he lost against Williams and Shane, wiped the floor with him every single round. Disliked him after being convicted but loved his heart and determination against Pac Man, when he could have been stopped a couple of time and he could have stopped Manny mid way with a body shot that nearly decapitated Pacquia. I also fancy Margarito’s wife. However I will be supporting Cotto as he is my favourite fighter.

I have to admit, I used to hate Margarito. I read about him getting caught with loaded gloves and I just thought of him as a dirty no-class fighter. Problem was, I'd never actually seen him fight. (New to boxing)
Then I watched the Pacquiao fight and I saw how much heart he had. He was getting destroyed and he knew it, but even though he could've quit at any moment he went the full 12 rounds. Perhaps a little stupid, certainly reckless, but that night I really felt like he showed something real. He wasn't fighting to beat Pac, he was fighting to restore his honour and his name.
Been a fan ever since.
For this fight? Shit I just don't know. I'm a Margarito fan, but I would also like to see Cotto win. Above that though, I'm a fan of boxing and I just hope we get a good fight because this year's big fights have been largely disappointing.
