I am a khan fan. Why do people hate him.
I have watched Khans whole career and have enjoyed watching his fights.
With Murray as the other up and coming star I was suprised that people prefered him to Khan when he had 30 fights against 30 nobodies. By that time Khan was a champion.
People were angry because they didnt think he deserved to go up that fast but why not when you beat people in front of you. He does not have many more challenges in his devision accept Timothy Bradley. A guy Khan is calling out and bad mouthing, but Bradley wont respond. If Khan did this he would be insulted and shamed by everone.
SO PLEASE TELL ME WHY YOU HATE KHAN AND WHY HE IS BAD FOR THE SPORT.
Im not trying to be a prick I simply dont understand what is wrong with Khan.

Re: I am a khan fan. Why do people hate him.
Pretty good fighter but he thinks he's better than what he really is. He should not be asking to fight Pac or Mayweather right now.
-
Re: I am a khan fan. Why do people hate him.
His cockyness.. I used to dislike Khan for different reasons though. I always thought he brought his amateurish habits into the pros such as not turning his punches over, horrible footwork as in his punches and footwork not moving in sync etc but I must say, he's been growing on me..
Technically, he's not that great, but I love his mentality. Dude has a built himself a respectable resume and he's willing to fight anyone..
-
Re: I am a khan fan. Why do people hate him.
Also don't like how he dogged his boy Pacquiao out. Talking about he needs to retire.
-
Re: I am a khan fan. Why do people hate him.
I'm a pretty big fan of Khan. He may be cocky and arrogant, but almost every fighter is. For someone in a sport filled with ex-cons, outright criminals, and corruption, he's a pretty harmless figure IMO.
He's very skilled, rarely involved in a dull fight, any with his chin you never know what is going to happen. I don't get the hate either.
He's also a future fixture on the P4P list (watch him lose to Peterson now:p).

For me it's not about "hating" Khan, he's just not a favorite. It's like he's the latest over-hyped overrated Brit media sensation that's being shoved in our faces as the next big thing. Everyone seems to forget that he got totally annihilated by Prescott a couple years ago, and got his ass handed to him by Maidana, barely avoiding getting KTFO again.
-
He just fucks me off, his whole demeanour, self credit and self hype and serious lack of personality.
I hate how he picked the weakest world champion to get the belt from.
See with prince Naseem it was edge of the seat stuff, he had charisma etc.
-
Re: I am a khan fan. Why do people hate him.
for some reason i have struggled to really get behind him
i dont even think he is that cocky compared to a lot of boxers at the level he is at
and i disagree with who said he doesnt deserve a fight with pac or mayweather yet, why doesnt he? who else is there? who deserves one more? id say he would give both those fighters as much of a test as anyone
so i dont know what it is, why i havent warmed to him, i still watch all his fights and enjoy them tho

Re: I am a khan fan. Why do people hate him.
although his style for me is ugly (not very unique and not extremely technical), i like him, he has had some good psychological traits, he
1)has been trash talker while somewhat reasonable
2)he has looked for big fights instead of avoiding them
3)hasn't cried because a blood test
3)hasn't fought many old shot legends
4) hasn't seemed afraid, like jc chavez, canelo, mayweather, pacquiao always look
5) hasn't fought ridiculously bad in a bight fight and been outboxed, i prefer knocked out cold than outboxed or stupid
But
1)he doesn't offer a fair money %
-
Re: I am a khan fan. Why do people hate him.
I dont hate him, some peeps just dont take to boxers. I dont like Mayweather, but I do respect his skills and achievements.
A good thing for Khan, when he got KO'd he knew he had to change everything about his training and prep for fights, and realised if he wanted to get to the big time he needed to change.
So he left home and uprooted himself to the US and joined the Roach clan. Best and most mature thing to do. He's reaping the benefits of this, and good on him.

Over hyped and over rated is a malady that fighters without a loss on their record often suffer from. Losing to Prescott, learning from it,improving vastly and then taking a tough fight like Maidana and passing that test despite being rocked is what gets you rated. Your man Bradley is over rated, desert storm....more like fart in a sandpit.:)
-
I like khan. I just wanted him to beat prescott. So prescott didnt improve..but he didnt have golden boy behind him.
-
Re: I am a khan fan. Why do people hate him.
Cockiness and the idea that he's had everything handed to him on a silver plate seem to be the main reasons...neither of which i've ever understood. He's not anymore or anyless cocky than any other fighter.
Never understood how people used to moan about his resume either. The only fighter he didn't fight on the way up was Thaxton, who was comprehensively outboxed by Hatton, back when Thaxton was probably closer to his prime. Even then, Warren offered Thaxton a career high pay day for the fight and he said no.
Khan's got a lot of bottle, and he's an exciting fighter who will pretty much fight everyone. Boxing would be better if more fighters had this attutude.

Re: I am a khan fan. Why do people hate him.
I used to dislike Khan for nitpicking opponents and avoiding real challenges, once he finally stepped in with Maidana, despite the result he at least showed he's willing to take the risk, he has good wins over Malignaggi, Maidana, and Judah, he called out Bradley only to hear crickets, so he moved on to another very good opponent in Peterson, if he steps up in weight as he said he is he can still rematch Maidana at 147, the thing that annoys people is his ego which is often mistaken for confidence, calling out fighters out of his league way back when for example Pacquiao and Mayweather, either way the guy deserved the criticism he received early on and silenced most critics by picking very good opposition, I'm not a huge fan of the guy but he does deserve credit

Plenty of fighters call out fighters who appear to be above their level. The trick is to get your name mentioned in as many headlines along with the name of an elite fighter. That way, the paying public become accustomed to seeing those two names together, so the fight becomes a better sell.
And, if he waited until he was actually ready to fight Mayweather, Mayweather would be about 37 and perhaps considered to be on the decline. Khan would get shit for not wanting to fight Mayweather when he was closer to his peak, so in a way, he can't win.

Yes he did, in the first round. A well connected body punch. After that, round later, it only took a good punch to his glass jaw to change from boxer mode to survival mode.

I don't hate the guy, quite like him actually. He can be full of himself and thinks he's better than he is but atleast he wants to fight anyone and tried making the best fight in his division. If people don't like him I can understand why.

Yeah damn right it does. It's called fighting with your heart instead of your head and it's a habit Khan has admitted he is trying to break, but it does not in any way lessen your credibility. To call a fighter great he will nearly always have to had come through similar adversity. He is young and CONSTANTLY improving.
I'm sorry but putting Bradley at number 7 in your current p4p top 10 with no space for Khan seems to indicate that. You are constantly going on about how you can't wait for someone to Knock khan out, as if losing to Prescott means he is a bum and a fraud. Also i can not find any reference to Timothy Bradley serving his country anywhere. I was not questioning his patriotism. He called himself Desert Storm after hearing a DJ call himself it on the Radio, but if he is a veteran my questioning his boxing prowess does not demean this and should not surprise you. If he is not your man it shouldn't bother you what i say about him. You seem to confuse recognising Khan's boxing ability as UK fans becoming Fan boys? As a person Khan is immature and a bit simple, but you can not question his heart or application. Unlike Bradley he qualified for the Olympics and came back with a silver medal. In the UK that was big news at the time. A lot of people don't like him because they confuse bravado for arrogance, and over here, for a minority, his family coming from Pakistan means they will never acknowledge him. Bradley uses his head constantly and to my eyes is a massively over rated boxer who has done his level best to avoid Khan and Alexander before that. Also being based mostly in the U.S.A quite how Khan can be an over hyped Brit media sensation is beyond me.

Wow Beanz, this post looks like a fucking Xmas tree, quite creative I must say. :peeker:
I don't get what you're going on about here, I didn't say Khan was a bum and a fraud, he's a good/above average fighter. I'm just not as enamored with Khan, as some of the Brit media, you and/or his fanboys, and others seem to be.
In re: Bradley, why do you still believe i'm such a big fan of his, or why do you think I would give a fuck what you say about him? Think what you want dude. ;)
I put Bradley above Khan in my P4P rankings because he's undefeated, been a Jr. Welterweight champion longer and unlike Khan he's never been KTFO or taken a serious beating. It has fuck all to do with Bradley being "my man".

...because he fights like amir khan yet talks like he's ali . And talks and talks and talks..........If you have to run from maidana, i doubt you can beat floyd. Amir is a decent fighter even his haters can't argue that. But why people hate him i more than understand . Dude is in the media giving manny advice. Khan is simply frequently laughable with some of the crap he says.

The punch he landed that rocked Khan was around the tenth round. He had khan in that round and the eleventh but Khan started coming back in the twelfth.
I think the fact that Khan has a crap chin makes him a better fighter. Rather see a guy block a punch than defend it with there face. That is not skill it is just lucky you were born with a good jaw.

Re: I am a khan fan. Why do people hate him.
Green, it's fair to rate Khan highly, he's a solid boxer with a lot of potential. No doubt about it. I'm not huge on his arrogance, but hey, that's just me.
If it didn't appear Bradley ducked Khan for money reasons, there would be no debate as to who should be ranked higher at junior welterweight.
- Bradley is undefeated.
- Bradley has fought better competition.
- Bradley has gone up in weight to 147, won, and then come back to 140.
- Khan is fighting now fighting Peterson, someone Bradley beat a few fights ago.
- Bradley beat the consensus number two/three junior middleweight in Devon Alexander. It's better than Khan's wins.
Khan has a solid resume too and there are good counter arguments to why he should be ranked higher.
- Khan beat Maidana.
- Khan unified with Zab Judah although Judah had no chance in that fight.
- Khan beat Kotelnik, which is a good win.
Ask yourself though, do wins over Lamont Peterson and Zab Judah do much for you? Not a ton. It comes down to in a way how much you value Khan's loss against Prescott and who you view as a tougher fight, Maidana or Alexander? Personally, taking into consideration when they fought which opponent, I like Junior Witter, Kendall Holt, nate Campbell, Lamont Peterson, Abregu at 147, and Alexander with no lossses more than Kotelnik, Paulie, Salita, McCloskey and Maidana. But, its close.

Like you say. It is so close its hard to tell. I would say bradley has had the better fight in Alexander but when Alexander fought Kotelnik alot of people including me thought he beat Alexander.
Really the only way to decide it is for them to fight. The match up should be a no brainer just like Mayweather Pac but the world of boxing is not as cut and dry as it should be.
Thats probably the reason I like MMA. All the best fighters fight each other. You cant duck anyone in MMA. Even though Dana White has too much power.
I am a Khan fan but my boxing head tells me if Bradley and Khan fight, Bradley will win.

Re: I am a khan fan. Why do people hate him.

Khan gets a load of stick for being over confident and cocky, but I don't think I've seen a fighter who doesn't think he's better than he is!! Or at least say he is to the media!!
He gets stick for being rocked and 'almost' knocked out by maidana. People don't talk about him dropping maidana and actually winning the fight!! He showed a lot of heart there. He also wants to fight the best, boxing would be a hell of a lot more entertaining if all fighters had that attitude!!
I'm a fan anyway, tons of potential and never really in a dull fight! I'll be cheering him on with a few beers on Saturday night!!
