I cant remember the last time a champion boxer dialed 911 for help but at least he came out ok.

seeing how moments after the altercation Evangelista Cotto went to Miguel's residence and threw a cinder block into Miguel's car and house window, wouldn't really say the guy was defenseless

Typical Britain, you can't even go for a walk without a pack of hounds harassing and stalking you. I don't understand why these youths hang out on street corners. a) It's cold and b) It's bloody boring. Why don't they play with their Playstations or play football?
There's an entire breed of these creatures swarming all over the place and they should really be put down like stray dogs.

He did right, he's a pro fighter no need to get involved in anything outside the ring. Even if it was self defence he would get done for using weapons or what ever the law is now.

But this whole, "If you're a boxer, your fists are considered a deadly weapon" law stinks to me. Surely I don't have to be a boxer to know how to throw a good punch? Gandalf, agree it's getting crazy over here - Been in Thailand for 3 months and don't fancy coming back hearing the shitty news that comes through. Although going indoors and playing Playstation isn't the answer..in fact, that's probably led to these socially devoid fools' behaviour in the first place. They don't know how to act or talk to people.
We used to play out all the time as kids but the absolute worst we'd do is maybe throw a water bomb at passing cars..that was as sinister as it got. My mum and dad woulda beat my arse if I got into any mischief..Now it's crazy. I just think some should consider very carefully whether they are fit to breed and bring up kids.. Good. Getting the shit kicked out of them would unlikely do anything for these kids except make them angrier and more violent when they came across someone weaker.
Police involvement however will make them think twice before attempting the same hijinks.

How is Burns getting criticised here? Fighting a gang of youths is like being the bear baited by a pack of dogs. If you start to chase one of them, the rest will pelt you from another angle with stones bottles etc. He's at less of a risk running away and having stuff thrown rather than trying to get involved and grab one or two of them.

Burns made a wise choice but I just thought it was kinda odd cuz Ive rarely heard about fighters calling the police for help.. These boxers are proud men and more times than not, we read about them getting into fights instead of dialing 911..

You are making light of it, but if he had retaliated he could have a) got into serious trouble b) get knifed or have a jagged bottle slashed across the head. The UK is a savage place with a serious youth crime problem, the last thing you should be doing is going 1 on 6 with a gang of youths.
He's a boxer and has his pride, but that doesn't mean he has to be an idiot too. I salute him on making a very sensible decision. Good choice.

It wasn't in glasgow, it was coatbridge(small town near glasgow) that's probably worse though, places like that around glasgow are pretty rough..In my opinion you are not at a greater risk of getting murdered in the glasgow area than anywhere else unless you are up to no good. exactly, ive seen burns fight years ago the went into JJB sports in coatbrig retail park a couple weeks later and he sold me trainers. Guy is a down to earth local guy. the fact that local scumbags done that dont reflect well on the area. everyone else in scotland is proud as fuck to have a world champ. no one gave him a chance against rocky martinez and he took him 2 skoool
