Who Will JMM Fight Next?
Every named fighter has signed to fight in the upcoming months. Everyone, except Juan Manuel Marquez. With who's left, who should JMM fight by the summer of 2012?
Brandon Rois at 140
Soto at 140
Lucas Matthysse at 140
Yuriorkas Gamboa at 135
Robert Guerrero
Anthony Peterson at 135
winner of Judah vs Paris(March 24th)
winner of Marcos Maidana vs. Devon Alexander(Feb 25th)
winner of Erik Morales vs. Danny Garcia(March 24th)

Re: Who Will JMM Fight Next?
He is going to fight some guy I have never heard of with a single KO to his name. It is on Fightnews. I'm not sure why he is doing this, but he is. He is known for his unorthodox strategies.

Re: Who Will JMM Fight Next?
JMM is schedule to fight on April 21st against a guy from Argentina. Cesar Rene Cuenca is the guys name. His record is 42-0-0 with only 1 KO victory. Every other fight is a victory via Unanimous Decision. I'm actually really really interested in seeing this fight. Never even heard of this guy before.

Re: Who Will JMM Fight Next?
He's doing this so he can stay active while he waiting for the winner of Pacquiao versus Bradley. I would love to see Marquez against the winner of Soto-Matthysse or Morales-Garcia, assuming Morales and Soto win. ;D
-
Re: Who Will JMM Fight Next?
I would like to see him in with the winner of Alexander Maidana and even Rios at 140.
-
Re: Who Will JMM Fight Next?
Juan has a lot of options at this point. It'll be interesting to see what he'll do. I give him major props for fighting someone lesser known instead of just waiting for somebody else to offer him a fight. The man has initiative. :thumb:

Re: Who Will JMM Fight Next?
Only 1 KO and never fought outside of his native country, way to go JMM, this is what legends are made from.

It's better than what Mayweather's been doing all these years. The one thing that bothers me about todays fighters is that they would rather wait for opponents, and because of it, they only fight two or three times a year. That's baby shit. That's no way to entertain.
I'd much rather JMM take on a nobody with a good record than to sit around twiddling his fucking thumbs.

Re: Who Will JMM Fight Next?
I'd like to see him against Rios or Guerrero (less likely b/c of Arum/GBP) at 140.
What weight is the stay-busy fight happening at?
(Note that the plan was for him to have a stay-busy fight like this even if they had made the fight with Peterson.)

Re: Who Will JMM Fight Next?
The guys 42-0, you never know maybe hes as good as Mayweather? ;D

Re: Who Will JMM Fight Next?
what else does he have to prove he practically beat PAC:-X

don't get what the :-X is for, when it's not opinion it's fact that he handed Pacquiao his ass 3 times, there's a reason why Manny picked Bradley over Marquez, he's just gonna try and do the same thing he's done already which is wait out as much time before his next fight with Marquez to hope that JMM grows old and Manny can finally actually beat him

Not as good but JMM better prepare like it is Money. Just watch him on YouTube. I sense a upset.

Re: Who Will JMM Fight Next?
I thought a Mexico match with Alvarado was being worked up, wouldn't have been too bad.
Props to him for staying busy and not sitting around on his arse waiting for the dust to settle. Wouldn't put to much stock in only 1 ko. Guys unknown but is either a back peddling Zuri Lawrence in a 140 body or some seriously awkward type? Alot to lose in these...cuts, crap styles that make you in turn look crap and kill that fresh momentum of going even up or better with Manny and marketability. Who knows, or he sparks the guy in one and we get some undercard action ;D
Argentine huh. Hide the chairs and bottles :-X

There's no bias in that at all. /sarcasm

Juan was once proven and wanted to fight champions (mostly calling out for Mexican ones) but was ignored for a fair while. Maybe he is looking at this guys skills in the same light :-\ .

same can be said about Pavlik's post, and history speaks for itself, every time Marquez and Pacquiao fight, Marquez gets the best of Manny then get's screwed on the cards, afterwards Marquez calls Pacquiao out...again, and Manny makes him jump through hoops for 3 yrs...again it's not a matter of opinion, the shit's already happened before

Re: Who Will JMM Fight Next?
As some of you know I'm a big JMM fan but I dont like the fight one bit...
OK, it's a stay busy fight I get it but with other more know names out there I think a more known opponent could have been found.
I actually listed Cuenca as a fighter to look out for:
2010

Since 2010 I have seen 2 versions of Cuenca.
The 1st one is when he's at his best which is mobile and coming forward.
The 2nd being stiff and just waiting around for his opponent.
If the 1st one shows up it can make for an interesting fight and with JMM's style we might see some fireworks.
If the 2nd one shows up then JMM will outclass him in every aspect I believe.

Re: Who Will JMM Fight Next?
OK, so after the stay-busy fight, it seems to me there are a number of pretty big and pretty good fights that will be ready and theoretically possible (and I have absolutely no interest in a 4th Pac fight -- we all know exactly how that goes).
- Guerrero
- Morales
- winner of Gamboa/Rios
- winner of Kahn/Peterson II
- winner of Alexander/Maidana
I'd love to see any of those 5 fights! Hopefully one of them gets made.
P.S. Thanks for the info on Cuenca, Mick. I'm not ashamed to admit that I've never heard of the guy and knew absolutely nothing about him other than his presumably puffed-up record.

I'm not about to claim that Pac "owned" Marquez. Because he didn't.
But you have to understand that the fight was extremely close. It could have gone either way. If you think otherwise, you're simply biased.
You cannot logically indicate that Marquez was robbed in his third bout with Pacquaio.

Re: Who Will JMM Fight Next?
HE'll prolly take a tuneup and face the winner of Rios-Gamboa in the summer..
Whoever he faces, I just hope he fights soon.. MArquez could be fighting a total bum or the 50ft giant woman with her titties all hanging out, Ill always tune in cuz watching him is like poetry in motion.. His style is so fuckin beautiful, I get choked up whenever he throws a punch..
Marquez is the greatest Mexican fighter of all time.. straight up..

Marquez easily beats both versions
