Wlady vs Jean-Marc & other fights thread
:action: Is Mormeck a mandatory for Wlad? I don't understand why this mismatch was even put together. But nonetheless, it's a HW title fight this afternoon here in North America and on at a reasonable time in the UK. (like 9:00 PM) So it's a fight Saddoboxing can watch together.
March 3
At Düsseldorf, Germany (Epix and EpixHD.com): Wladimir Klitschko vs. Jean-Marc Mormeck, 12 rounds, for Klitschko's Ring/WBO/IBF/WBA heavyweight title; Ola Afolabi vs. Valery Brudov, 12 rounds, for vacant WBO interim cruiserweight title; Alexander Ustinov vs. Kertson Manswell, 8 rounds, heavyweights; Stefan Worth vs. Laszlo Toth, 8 rounds, welterweights.
I'm not even going to ask who you've got. :-X
Let's put it this way, I can't see Mormeck going the distance.

Re: Wlady vs Jean-Marc on Epix Saturday
Hmmm,
Wlad to win via KO by round 4 or 5 sounds fair.
Sigh :(
-
Re: Wlady vs Jean-Marc on Epix Saturday
i hope wlad does KO him within 4 or 5 rounds
he seemed more agressive against haye than ever before and he might do if he fights that way
i think it will be a KO from the 8th onwards and another jab jab jab fight for the first 7 rounds
i dont see mormeck landing anything
(actually my first sentence isnt true, i hope moremeck KOs wlad and im not bothered which round but that isnt gonna happen)
-
Re: Wlady vs Jean-Marc on Epix Saturday
Wlad should have him out of there within 6 rounds, but knowing Wlad he's going to just jab for 6 before he throws a right hand.
-
Re: Wlady vs Jean-Marc on Epix Saturday
this is an utter joke.
At HW, Mormeck beat Vinny Madalone. No big accomplishment.
He got a gift against Oquendo. I have watched that fight. Oquendo won the fight.
followed up by a controversial decision against Timur Ibragimov. And Ibragimov got destroyed recently by prospect Seth Mitchell.
-
Re: Wlady vs Jean-Marc on Epix Saturday
Mormeck got this fight because he was available and WILLING to fight Wladimir. Wlad could have waited, he may have gotten a better fight, but he wants to remain active. I can't defend the fight being made, but I'm hoping Wlad acts quick and gets the KO early on as it's been a while since his last early KO.
I hope a better opponent comes along soon.
I am intrigued by what (if anything) Rooney can add to Mormeck's corner....this is a bigger mismatch than Kevin Rooney vs Alexis Arguello ;)

Re: Wlady vs Jean-Marc on Epix Saturday
Mormeck has had exciting fights against Haye and Bell, but he's pushing 40 and he's taken a lot of punishment in his career. It's a tune-up for Wlad that's true, but it's not really worth watching (even though I will) as it won't be anything more than a glorified sparring session. JMM <- haha, I guess J-MM will be heading for retirement soon enough. I'm ready to get excited for a new heavyweight.

I like watching fights from Germany Killer, it's interesting, even when it's a fucking mismatch like this one. Germans get all decked out and dressed up like they're going to see a rendition of "Siegfried" and "Götterdämmerung,", and make a real glittry/showy production out of HW championship fights. Maybe Haye and Chisora will show up in Düsseldorf and start heckling Wlad & Vitali or better yet, kill each other that would be fun. ;)

The ringwalks they've had have been fantastic. The one with the holograms of heavyweight champs was great.

Plus a new Boris Becker interview. I'm dying to hear what he's been up to since last weekend.

And while you're at it, ask the Poles how fun loving Stalin and the Soviets were, the Poles had it rough, during WWII, and for a long time afterwards.

A little of Mormeck sparring for you....doesn't look like he'll be all that hard to find from this display

Mormeck is a little over 5' 11", Wlad is 6' 6", he won't be all that hard to find except that Wlad will be punching down at him. Manny said something about Wlad needing to be careful not to break a hand on Mormecks head.

Wlad's fought short guys before...I would assume that the uppercut will be used by Wlad a bit more. The way Mormeck's head is, he is leading with the very hardest part, but Wlad's no dope, he knows how to handle it. Mormeck's punches also don't look quick and compact, it could be to try and lull Wlad to sleep, but really it's not going to be a problem. Wlad has the length and accuracy to keep Mormeck at bay, Mormeck can't move his feet all that well, and Wlad will eventually stand him up and knock him out.
It'll be extremely hard to keep bobbing & weaving without taking damage...hopefully Kevin Rooney gets some success from this venture. Rooney is even starting to look like Cus, bald head and all.

However, the guy he was sparring was pawing with the jab and throwing light right hands, also he didn't appear to be 6'7" like Wladimir is.
Also when Mormeck got on the inside he wasn't unloading hard shots, I know its sparring, but for such a serious fight Mormeck should be getting harder sparring.

There's probably not too many boxing fans around who even know who Kevin Rooney is. He had his 15 minutes of fame being Tyson's trainer for a few fights before falling off the face of the fucking earth.
Mormeck would probably be better off fighting like he always has, trying to imitate Tyson at this late stage in his career, is silly.
Wlad and Manny are pretending this isn't a mismatch to build up/promote the fight a bit, and to have an excuse in case Mormeck lands that one in a million shot on Wlady's china chin. ;)

Mormeck took this fight for one reason = to get a decent final payday, Wlad will end his career.
-
Hulk, Mormeck doesn't have the handspeed or power needed to effectively use the Tyson style. I do think in the public sparring Mormeck was sandbagging and trying to get people to say "Man he doesn't look good at all" because Mormeck and Rooney are hoping Wlad and Manny have started to look past this fight.

wlad v areola would be jab jab jab for about 8 rounds and then areola would fall over, it wouldnt be any different than any other wlad fight
moremeck could be any nationality im not bothered, I just want wlad to lose mate, and vitali, they are boring inside and outside the ring
fantastic fighters yes, probably have lived with any fighter of any era, which is something a lot of people would hate to admit
but boring, talk boring, fight boring
look at vitali, soon as he was in with a fighter that didnt stand there and get punched he was on the back foot, boring and frustrating
the HW division is the worst it has been in history and the worst out of all the divisions now, yes there arent that many contenders but the main reason is because the 2 champs are boring, and fight boring
people go on about how well the klits handled themselves in all this controversy, thats just another way of saying how boring and unentertaining they are

Vitali tore his rotator cuff and still won the fight handily....the fuck man?!? People bitched about how Vitali quit vs Byrd when he had the same injury, he fought through this one and what does it earn him?? As usual a bunch of complaining Brits "Oi! veese fightahs is boorin'...blimey I've seen bettah dust ups at me pub wif 'andsome Joe an Toofless Maggie...ooooh but that David 'Aye ain't afraid to get stuck in, 'ees a propa gangstar and Del Boy, ee's off 'is nut....let's go clean some chimneys guvna!"
It would be one thing if you said, "I don't find their styles very appealing" but for a dude that was all over Haye and Chisora who by all accounts SUCKED the absolute life out of some fights that were supposed to be big only to show that outside the ring they are just 2 juvinile little drama queens. Haye did what exactly vs Valuev and Wladimir that was exciting? Haye didn't do jack shit vs Audley Harrison who was just waiting to be hit, poor Audley waited for 3 rounds before Haye obliged him with a fight!!! Chisora aside from slapping Vitali, spitting at Wlad, and getting punched at the post fight press conference has done fuck all in the boxing ring. So he went the distance with a robotic overrated Helinius and got jobbed on the cards, whoopty damn do. The problem is your fighters are only considered "exciting" outside the ring, they bring nothing to the table inside the ring, and I guess you guys are just blind to that fact. That's fine, you go like who you want, but I suggest if you want to see a bunch of mindless shit talking thugs with no boxing skill fight each other then stick to Jeremy Kyle

Re: Wlady vs Jean-Marc on Epix Saturday
vitali wasnt injured
he was exposed
from round one every time vitali threw a jab chisora hit him with a right hook to the body
thats why he stopped throwing the jab
-
Re: Wlady vs Jean-Marc on Epix Saturday
I wonder if they did a drug test on Chisora after the Vitali fight, i'd love to see the results, the piece of shit had to be fucked up on something to act the way he did, before, during and after the fight.
I bet he got his ass out of Germany in a hurry after the fight before they could test him.

Winning a UD with one arm apparently means Vitali was "exposed"....you're as delusional as Audley Harrison

he was fighting someone who has had 36ish fights in total am and pro, lost a fight or two ago to tyson fury, a foot shorter than him and with 50000 people in support
vitali was suppose to be a big hard man and supposedly the only reason why his fights were shit was coz the opposition was shit
well it was proved last time out that he is as unentertaining and unwilling as his brother to really make the division exciting
his aura was exposed ;D

re: Wlady vs Jean-Marc & other fights thread
This card is scheduled to start today @ about 4:45 PM ET time here in North America or 9:45 PM in the UK and Germany. Some of the undercard fights may be shown earlier depending on the live feed or network you get.
At Düsseldorf, Germany (Epix and EpixHD.com): Wladimir Klitschko vs. Jean-Marc Mormeck, 12 rounds, for Klitschko's Ring/WBO/IBF/WBA heavyweight title; Ola Afolabi vs. Valery Brudov, 12 rounds, for vacant WBO interim cruiserweight title; Alexander Ustinov vs. Kertson Manswell, 8 rounds, heavyweights; Stefan Worth vs. Laszlo Toth, 8 rounds, welterweights.
The main event figures to be a one sided snoozer, but the Germans put on a pretty good show, and maybe the undercard will be good.

re: Wlady vs Jean-Marc & other fights thread
Vitali was on tv saying Mormec is more of a threat than we think he is. All this means is to try prove his point, he will make this fight last ages when it could be over in a few rounds.

Wlady almost always fights cautious, Brewster, Sanders, and Purity are in the back of his mind. I guess in a way you can't blame him, but it sometimes makes for terminally boring fights. I'm not saying Wlad isn't damn good at what he does, but jesus, he's a huge, powerfully built HW, fight like you've got a pair.
