Dan Rafael says Berto has been tested positive for steriods?
Look at his twitter, Ortiz fight in jeopardy? Another stab wound for boxing, if true.
-
Re: Dan Rafael says Berto has been tested positive for steriods?
let the shit storm of berto hatred begin!!!
-
Lol trust me if this is Vada testing or whatever, then this new protocol will expose a shit ton of people in the sport. Most guys coming up are on this stuff..but when you get to the elite level where millions of dollars are involved, you can bet your ass most of them are on something.

Re: Dan Rafael says Berto has been tested positive for steriods?
If true it would suck big time, I was looking forward to this fight back in feb or whenever it was supposed to happen. if it gets cancelled again it'll be a big time disappointment, hopefully it's just a false report. If true it would be rather ironic cause wasn't berto saying that ortiz was on something after the first fight...

Will these F*CKING idiots ever learn?

Re: Dan Rafael says Berto has been tested positive for steriods?
Is anybody seeing Ortiz-Khan at 147 in the not too far future? With the winner facing Mayweather?

Re: Dan Rafael says Berto has been tested positive for steriods?
It could be billed "The Battle of the Non-Users"

Same, I really dont know why top ranked fighters are risking their careers for steriod abuse. I really liked Peterson and Berto, but this sucks, both men really had an opportunity to make something for themsleves but doing this is too far. You have to feel bad for Ortiz, even though I dont like him anyway after the Mayweather headbutt, he has wasted a lot of time on Berto with the injury and now this.

Re: Dan Rafael says Berto has been tested positive for steriods?
they aren't really risking their careers cause they're all on steroids or some performance enhancers!!!

You're not an old romantic. You're just not a jaded, cynical person. Neither am I.
Personally, I'm not into generalities... they're usually wrong.

Once you are actually inside the boxing scene, you see and hear some fucked up shit. It's not cynical at all - could be said it's just not being delusional. But hey I can concede that there may be the odd 1 or 2 elite that aren't using but one thing I can guarantee is they're few and far between.

I agree, Althugz. It's completely widespread. In fact, probably the majority are using for sure. Still, I'd like to hang on to the belief that there are those elite few, like you said, who don't use anything. I think two of them fought on May 5th, in fact.
:)

Re: Dan Rafael says Berto has been tested positive for steriods?
Peterson and Berto both positive for Steroids :p
Are those the Standard commission tests?
or Special tests from private groups?

Re: Dan Rafael says Berto has been tested positive for steriods?
I am cynical and jaded and I'm normally the first person to say most boxers are on something -- I didn't believe pacquaio and his fear of needles for instance -- but I don't think berto did this deliberately. It's just come out that the amount in his system was absolutely tiny and consistent with him injesting it via some contaminated supplement that he was taking. Lots of athletes have tested positive for nandrolone in tiny quantities due to them taking contaminated supplements. And nandrolone is the last thing you would take if you're juicing as it stays in the body for eighteen months. I just think it's an unfortunate accident and that Berto is a clean athlete.

So does this mean the fight is back on? Or was it scrapped as soon as Berto tested positive?
That's the flip-side with these Vada tests..why can't they tell that the amount ingested is microscopical the first time round? Instead of outing somebody and THEN checking the amount that showed up in the urine/blood? That sounds a bit weird to me. It also embarasses a fighter who might be innocent.
The other thing is that I remember hearing in the old days that some rather unruly supplement companies would put bits of steroid in their bottles to make the athlete think the supplement was amazing and to keep buying. I hope that still doesn't happen.

I know your probably struggling to describe the briefness of your Speedo's but surely it's microscopic not microscopical. God I sound like Lyle.

"microscopical*- so small as to be invisible without a microscope"
Better luck next time trying to get at me for competing as a fitness model ;) you aren't the first and won't be the last. I do make plenty of grammatical errors that you can probably pull me up on in future though so don't worry, I'm sure you'll get another opportunity at a shit joke (Though none of my errors will be as amateur as mixing up "your/you're" I can assure you)
In the meantime...You can do one, grammar police. ;)

You are entirely correct in pointing out my lack of a possessive apostrophe. I apologize wholeheartedly. While microscopic is a commonly used adjective you will find that you have misused microscopical. You can conduct a "microscopical examination" or be a member of the Royal Microscopical Society but "an amount ingested" can only be microscopic. Microscopical may have entered the common lexicon as an ugly ill fitting replacement for microscopic, but I will continue to advert my eyes from it just as I will look away from your "fitness model" pic:-X. Also whilst on the subject of Amateurs, since when were you an insider in the boxing scene and under which capacity have you suddenly become such an expert that you now know "there may be the odd 1 or 2 elite that aren't using but one thing I can guarantee is they're few and far between. Essentially you're asking me to name and shame which would never happen. You can take my word for it or not, either way I'm fine.
All I'll say is there are a lot of in roads for me to get info because of where I've been able to train and who I've been lucky enough to meet. The boxing world is an extremely small one - not just locally but internationally. For example one of my friends who turned pro spent a month in L.A at the WildCard with Freddie, Alex Ariza and Amir Khan. That's just one small example of how small a world the boxing one is.
Another of my old trainers runs security for Warren backstage and looks after the fighters etc etc. List goes on.
Another pro who used to train me sparred Lennox, Bruno, Holyfield in their training camps.
I've been lucky to meet who I have

Dunno. Golden Boy are supposedly looking around for another opponent but with this latest revelation about it being some co0ntaminated stuff they may use the situation to screw the fuck out of berto and his people so that the fight goes ahead. Or maybe there's issues with the commissions or something else that will prevent it once a positive test has happened. Fuck knows. We'll have to wait and see.
Hopefullt it's back on but I wouldn't bet on it. It'll probably be Ortiz against some tomato can and it's yet another big fight that doesn't happen.

Ortiz will now be fighting Josesito Lopez.
Josesito Lopez will replace Andre Berto in June 23 bout against Victor Ortiz in L.A. - ESPN
