Very good fight.. I'm quite surprised that Canelo is being put in with Ortiz if true, he'd only be a slight favourite for me.
I really like this fight, I think Ortiz gets the win slightly. Mexican independence day in Vegas, should be fun.
I'm surprised this fight is being made too. Could be a cracker.
If the odds are hald decent ill be backing ortiz! I think he will be way to slick

Considering the options I reckon this is an ok match. I think Ortiz is untested at the weight and that is an issue in my view of the fight. Canelo just got done battering Mosley around the ring, I think this is a pretty safe bout for him, but you never know.
This is a very good fight.
Ortiz WILL hurt Alvarez and as Canelo hasnt been in deep yet, the inexperience may lose him this fight.
Great fight I might put some cash on Orriz.
I made some good money on him when he fought Berto.
Similar underdog status.

Should be a good fight, is ortiz moving up to 154? He's not been at 147 for too long, seems like a risk IMO. I think Canelo should win though.
They mentioned this on FNF and the Beavis laugh was instant. Solid fight! Ortiz has the wingspan of a Condor and he should be able to carry 154 at this point no problem. His straight punches and attack mode (minus the head etc) could really tell alot about Canelo. Don't care who wins, only care about the opening bell ringing. Close really but go with Canelo.
canelo didn't impress me in his fight with mosely. he looked overly tentative against a guy who showed almost no offence, no aggression. it was hard to watch him hold back the whole fight knowing he should have been able to end it anytime he wanted.
the fight could be interesting if ortiz comes out swinging like he did against mayweather.
i agree lost alot of respect for ortiz after the mayweather fight, not just the headbut but it felt like he just came in with the mindset that he will lose and make his payday, no heart he was smiling after his contraversial knockout like fuckit im richQuote:

Wait a damn minute....I know full well that certain posters on here were saying "Canelo would destroy Cotto" not too terribly long ago, and now Victor Ortiz is "Going to hurt Canelo".....Victor Ortiz hasn't been tested at 154 yet. Sure in theory he can carry the weight, but hell in theory Paul Williams could have been a light heavyweight (no disrepect to PW). Alvarez hasn't been tested yet, that is true, but I doubt someone like Victor Ortiz will be the best to do it because Victor doesn't have layers to his game he just has an all out frontal attack and that's it, he can't box, he can't stick and move, and who knows how his chin will handle Canelo's punches or how the weight will affect his speed and power. Just because the kid can crack at 140 and 147 doesn't automatically mean he can blast guys out at 154.
I think this is an easy fight for Canelo, I don't think at this point in time that Ortiz is any more dangerous than Kirkland or Angulo who are proven at the weight. Carlos Quintana would be more difficult for Alvarez because he can box.
Ortiz is fast, a big puncher (Mayweather is the only opponent not to hit the deck) has experience and is a southpaw!
If Canelo was hesitent against Shane he will shit himself against Ortiz;D

Ortiz has a fight scheduled on 6/23. Apparently he is completely discounting Josesito Lopez.

I think Conelo will win. I think it will be his shot accuracy that will beat Ortiz in the end. But very good fight and they both have a shot. Acuracy and technique with Conelo and Power with Ortiz. Ortiz has been in deep water and came out on top before so thats on his side.
They both have about the same defence and indurance in my opinion.
Mathew Hatton, Ryan Rhodes and Shane Mosley would not hear the last bell against Ortiz;)

I dont understand why so many people are counting out Ortiz so fast even predicting him to be ko'd early. In my opinion Ortiz takes this one. Canelo gets hit easily and if Ortiz was able to land a little on Mayweather then he will surely land against Canelo. I'm going with Ortiz he seems to be in the same position in this fight as he was when he first faught Berto .

Bute's chin was a known quantity after the first Andrade fight where he was rocked and stayed rocked, and bringing him up in this discussion is erroneous anyway as he's not going to be the one fighting either of these guys.
As for Jose Miguel Cotto hurting him....meh...are you telling me Shane Mosley hits softer than JM Cotto??? Now if we're talking Miguel Cotto then of course both Canelo and Ortiz get battered, but he's got a depth to his game neither Canelo nor Ortiz has.

Canelo is probable going to be a Middle weight not to far down the road, the naturally bigger fighter.
Ortiz can punch at 140lbs but one or two of you are getting carried away this is at 154lbs, Ortiz has to
prove himself who has he ko at 154 nobody that's who.!
Remember Ortiz is no Duran, Canelo is a legitimate Light middle he may just overpower Ortiz with ease
that will probable be the out come.;)
