Nothing in black and white guys and nothing on google but I was on YouTube lastnight and found a video by "wooooooooodya" and it's got jim watt etc talking about it. Search for videos in the last 24 hours.
Ps if someone can get the vid on here it would be great

Re: Is it true roy jones retires?
Bout time really.
His last fight with absolutely anything left to offer was against Calzaghe.
He could probably take on old bloated names like Lacy, Sheika and Trinidad to his hearts content but I dont think he wants that. He could probably have beaten wright.

He had jack shit to offer Calzaghe and still put JC on his arse..
It's about that time, Roy. Save what's left of your health and enjoy life. Legend.
Re: Is it true roy jones retires?
I thought Roy was promoting a fight in Poland, so thought he would have seen the fight out as contracted.
Re: Is it true roy jones retires?
Roy Jones is fighting next week in Poland against Dawid Kostecki at 175. Maybe after this he will retire

Kostecki is in prison, most likely he wil fight Paweł Głażewski.
Supposedly, if RJJ wins this, he was promised a fight with Diablo Włodarczyk, which would be another step towards Parkinson.

Like I said....... "old bloated names like Lacy, Sheika and Trinidad to his hearts content"
He beat Sheika and Lacy after the Calzaghe fight;) he still had enough to beat those level.
Re: Is it true roy jones retires?
I saw Ringside today and they said he has retired but keep hearing he is fighting soon.
Which is it?

Quite honestly I thought those were pretty good wins all things considered how terribly shot Jones has been for years now. I was happy when he schooled Lacy and looked like his old self minus his legs.
If Jones is to retire before or after this fight against a journeyman it doesn't much matter just as long as he does finally retire.
He's the most talented fighter of all time hands down and its time he stopped pissing on his legacy and endangering his life by fighting far far too long.
Re: Is it true roy jones retires?
The biggest mistake of Roy Jones career was fighting John Ruiz, it ruined him coming back down to Light Heavy again. It wasn't his chin that was weak after this fight it was his legs and at 35 years old at the time this was just to much for his body to re-adjust too. Look what weight reduction did to Oscar against the Pacman. Ego got the better of Roy Jones jr and he thought he was invincible, he probably was throughout the 90's. Had he fought Calzaghe in 2000 for example i doubt if Joe Balls would win a round!
Roy Jones jr should've retired after Tarver 2! He was shot to bits after that fight.
Re: Is it true roy jones retires?
I have a bottle of Johnny Walker Blue that I been saving since 2006, if this is true that bottle will be drained and gone tonight.

That was a great win to beat Ruiz for a light heavy so I am sure he would not want to change that choice. It was a brilliant achievement although it came with a heavy price I am sure he would never change making that move.
Re: Is it true roy jones retires?
Roy Jones Jr. can't retire. Roy Jones Jr. is an ageless clone. 'nuff said. ;D
Re: Is it true roy jones retires?
Ageless? Who the fuck have you been watching the last few years? ;)

This is a great post, the only part I disagree with is Ruiz being a mistake for Roy. I think That he should have retired after the Ruiz fight. He knew Lennox was just too big so he couldn't really go any further in the HW division unless he fought Tyson, which I'm glad did not happen.
Going back down did take his legs away, I mean does anyone remember the speed of foot he had when he floored Reggie johnson? He was about 10 feet away from Reggie by the time his arse hit the canvas! That was never seen again after the HW experiment.
I first started seeing serious decline a while before though in the fight with Eric Harding, he was still by far the best p4p in the world then, but the man that schooled Hopkins with one hand and won virtually every round against James Toney. The man that taught Montell Griffin a serious lesson in their rematch and that hit Virgil Hill so hard in the ribs that it sounded like Lars Ulrich was hitting his snare drum in the ring that night, that man was gone after that fight with Harding.

It was a great win, one of the best in boxing history, but what does it profit a man to gain the world but lose your soul? Jones jr didn't lose his soul literally to boxing, but boxing was definitely lost to him after this fight. Jones proved his point to himself and to all of us fans, he alone has to weigh up the cost of it. I wonder if he really thinks it was worth it? I hope he has a good solid life in retirement without any major complications, continuing on for so long after Tarver 2 could not be good for his long term health.
Re: Is it true roy jones retires?
he's 99% fighting Pawel Glazewski in Poland next week
