I love meat pie. Not too crusty though. Ugh.
Pork pie hats are cool but not very nice to eat, even with pickle. A classic pork pie is chopped pork encased in short crust pastry with a lovely gelatinous coating which is fed through a whole in the pastry, so that the pork is kept from drying out. Melton Mowbray are very famous for making them. They are eaten cold and are great with pickles or relishes, or as they are. Great in a picnic with some cheese. They are nearly as nice as a pasty, but not quite. God and the devil both like Pasties and I will start a thread on them soon.
A pork pie sounds like a way better version of a pig in the blanket or corn dog. Score one for the UK crowd.
I havent eaten for over 30 hours and you bring up Pies
The South/Texas has what we call a chicken-pot-pie. Essentially a pie crust with a thick stew like material covered with a pastry/pie topping. I've never had one with anything other than chicken or turkey though. Seems a big difference in the cuisine is the UK crowd do a lot of meat in pastry where the South/Texas do a lot of meat/gravy over rice. The small sampling I've had of UK food was really good.

A Classic Pork pie :lickish:
You can't beat a good pork pie but it's not exactly a health food with all that fat in. I generally get one for Christmas and I try and get one that's as lean as possible and has a bit of pepper in the seasoning.
back ın 1982 or so ın Allendale, New Jersey we had a place on Route 17 South called Steak 'n Ale. Nıce place to go for a few beers and some steak or chops. now to combıne the themes of HILLBILLY AND FOOD

I love Pukka Pies steak and kidney with chips most Fridays. Lovely!
A good pie is a very nice thing to eat and I did eat a fair few this summer. You can't go wrong with a simple steak pie and a bit of gravy.
I've had a go at making my own too and it's quite easy, but I don't eat them too often as I worry about all the butter that goes into it.
I like hot pork pies, makes them even tastier.
McDonald's recently published a guide to the UK. They described Pasty's as: a meat pie.
Some very unhappy pasty lovers because of that!
I think you have a special needs keyboard.
