So Jr Chavez has tested positive for...

Re: So Jr Chavez has tested positive for...
Like Tyson got caught against Golota, idiot is right and does not have the dedication I thought he had. :)

What made you think he had dedication? The "training" in his fancy living room instead of the gym or something else?
That said, I don't know why they even test for marijuana. Not a "performance enhancing" drug (or a big deal). I'm sure he drank alcohol at some point too.
-
Green always made me think," well he's a prick but it's not worth getting into a fight over" . Great motivation for a jam or getting out the paints, but not so much before sparring or going for a run? Can it be used to mask more obvious performance enhancers?

Yeah he could have smoked it days before the fight. I also find it funny that pots on the list. The first thing I thought was did he use it to mask the over the counter speed he uses to cut weight.

Re: So Jr Chavez has tested positive for...
Now all the Chavez lovers will being saying " He would have definitely got the KO if he wasn't smoking"
-
Re: So Jr Chavez has tested positive for...
I knew I was calling him Quest for Fire for some reason. Puff puff pass wholly.
He should have waited until after the fight, help his aching muscles and hindered eyesight.
-
He did it On purpose. He needed an excuse as he knew he was up against it.
-
Re: So Jr Chavez has tested positive for...
Imagine if he didn't smoke weed and would for sure not gassed that 12th round and got the TKO..:vd::11fb8::wackomz4::tease-new:
-
Re: So Jr Chavez has tested positive for...
I don't know why marijuana is on the list either, but hey, it's not surprising he was busted for something.

Yeah, I'd have to agree with you, shza. I can think of a lot of adjetives for Junior.
And "dedicated" isn't one of them.
-
Re: So Jr Chavez has tested positive for...
Not only did Junior smoke weed, he Bogarts the joint. :-X
-
Re: So Jr Chavez has tested positive for...
So that is why he fought like a spaced out zombie for most of the fight?
-
Re: So Jr Chavez has tested positive for...
So let me get this straight this kid thought he could;
1. Train whenever the fuck he wanted
2. Sleep until 8 o' clock at night
3. Wake up in the middle of the night and train in his living
4. Go to a BBQ in with friends and suddenly start training there like some fucken sideshow
5. Not listen to his trainer
and beat "Maravilla" one of the top 3/4 pound for pound boxers in the world. HA!
Fucken comical ;D
Now wonder this idiot was waking up at 8 pm walking around with the munchies eating a bowl of Coco Puffs in his fucken hot pink underwear and fucken JCC Sr. trying to give him pointers while Jr. is like "Your fucking up my high pops. Leave the fuck alone"
-
Re: So Jr Chavez has tested positive for...
Thing that gets me most angry is this idiot made twice as much as Sergio trading on his last name when his heart isn't even in the sport. Must make some top boxers real mad..

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr tests positive; could be suspended for a year
Just saw this on the scroller of ESPN.
Terrible terrible news. I don't think it was for steroids, it was mums on what it was, but Bob Arum has said it was marijuana. Details are sketchy but apparently that's what it was.
Anyway, he could be suspended for a year and possibly revoke his license and take up to 3M of his purse.
Thoughts?

that's ridiculous, he's getting the same punishment for weed that Margarito got for using loaded gloves, yea that seems fair :/

Re: So Jr Chavez has tested positive for...
It's going to make Martinez angry. That's the rematch down the pan. After his suspension it's unlikely JCC ever sees 160 again. What a tit.

Re: So Jr Chavez has tested positive for...
Freddie also isn't as hands on over the years. Remember the discipline he and respect he made James Toney have for him and his system if he was gonna be at that camp, he actually got in Toney's face a few times.
This is not the same Freddie Roach that trained James Toney, if it was, there is NO WAY Chavez would have gotten away with what he's gotten away with, nor would Freddie take him on as a trainer. It seems the lee-way he gives to Pacquiao is now sort of standard with his other core fighters, that needs to stop. He seems to have lost that edge that made him a great trainer, his fighters walk all over him and he allows it and keeps a smile on his face. The Freddie that trained James Toney would have been at their house at 6 am and kick them out of bed to go train. But this one sort of let's them come and go as they please and picks up the paycheck for training them. Freddie needs to get out of the game if he is no longer gonna fight for a fighter's respect, or at least kick them out of his gym if they go about it like Chavez did or he'll have more young fighters disgracing his gym.

Roach is old and clearly getting very sick. He has likely now made good money and needs to take his rest. Associating with the like of Chavez Jnr is just sad. His impact in the Pac camp is now just marginal too.
I don't see any other reason other than the money now.

You can't blame the guy, he's got Parkinson's. He's going to spend the rest of his life paying increasing amounts of dough for medical care so he needs to make as much as he can while he can. Chavez may be a tit but made three million basic for the Martinez fight plus a chunk of the PPV which grossed around thirty million. So that's maybe a six million dollar purse and Freddie gets 10% of it. Who else that he could train is going to make him that kind of money?
Also, too. There are all the test results for steroids/masking agents/diuretics still to come. Anybody think he tests positive for anything else? We should have a sweepstake.

Good. You all exist within societies, you pay when caught. He was caught.
'Oooh only weed', weed is foul.

Re: So Jr Chavez has tested positive for...
Ok, so I saw it myself on SportsCenter this morning. The Nevada Athletic Commission could fine Junior up to his $3M purse, suspend him for a year, and even revoke his license. I only have one question:
Have they not met Jose Sulaiman and his cartel?
To think Sulaiman is going to sit idly by and watch the NAC fine and suspend his godson, is to not have a grasp on reality.

The purse is lodged with the NSAC before the fight. I'm guessing they'll fine the fuck out of Junior but release enough of it so that at least his team all get paid. Junior will probably get a big chunk too and probably all the PPV money he's due. The WBC get their sanctioning fee paid separately, can't see how they're going to tell Nevada what to do.

I know you're right.... I just couldn't resist taking another shot at Sulaiman, who I despise more than any person in sports. The thought of the NAC meting out punishment to Junior, and having Sulaiman sitting helplessly on the sidelines should be enough give the old man an ulcer. I'm getting misty-eyed just thinking about it.

Sorry but NO...
It's not Freddy. I've been around the Wild Card Gym for close to 10 yrs and it's not him.
What you see on TV vs. What really happens can be 2 different worlds apart.

Freddie Roach is a boxing trainer, not a babysitter.
Enough said.

Re: Julio Cesar Chavez Jr tests positive; could be suspended for a year
While I don't like Chavez, weed is a waste of a suspension. It doesn't enhance any performance.

I was being sarcastic about the dedication hence the smiley face. On a serious note, Chavez has issues with alcohol and drugs which have already impacted on his career. He needs to address these issues before he gets back into the ring because he is wasting away the boxing career he has established but more importantly his life.

Brother I was waiting for you to start blaming Roach for rolling his joints too tight next. Chavez is a grown man. The quicker he relizes it for himself and handlers, people stop making excuses for him the quicker he'll improve. Maybe.
Saying goes you can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink...in this case Chavez wouldn't even lead himself to the gym in the first place. In the bigger picture though, yeh...Roach should fire Jr.
-
Re: So Jr Chavez has tested positive for...
This is what i don't get. Didn't jr. say on 24/7 how it was so hard watching his dad use drugs and alcohol during his training later in his career. Now i know that smoking some weed and doing coke are two different things, but come on. Obviously not taking training seriously or having respect for the sport.
-
Re: Julio Cesar Chavez Jr tests positive; could be suspended for a year
He will just go to Mexico and fight for a year and make a shit load of money.
-
Weed probably made him able to withstand all them punches!
Its a drug. And he is a proffessional fighter...but as someone said you cant give him the same sentance as a guy that has been using plaster in his hands his entire career.

I agree, but he should get a stiffer reprimand than last time. Maybe they'll try to get his attention this time. To hell with a suspension, take the 3 million back and revoke his boxing license for a year, that should get his attention.
-
Re: Julio Cesar Chavez Jr tests positive; could be suspended for a year
I think a year is fine. Personally i think Margarito got off light for the plaster. Also lets not forget, this isnt the first time they have found something. The diuretic masker, 2 missed tests, a DUI, and now pot. Giving this kid a year... is just what he needs. Not as punishment, but to get his life straight.
In the grand scheme of it, the scale is a bit inconsistent. How far are the following spaced out... Resto/Lewis......TYson and the biters..... Margarito...... Jr. ?

Junior is officially a dumb-ass, like father like son.

Re: Julio Cesar Chavez Jr tests positive; could be suspended for a year
I have a question if someone is smoking weed and is not all there to begin with is he really gonna notice the punishment he takes. Cause I've seen people high as a kite burn their hands on friers and then start laughing their heads off. :-\
