As expected. What do you guys think of this one? I hear Canelo will be the co-feature, so I think if Mayweather beats Guerrero and Alvarez wins his fight, they'll fight in September.

This is an easy fight. The only way Guerrero could make it otherwise is if he's allowed to pull the same kind of crap he was against Berto, and given Floyds clout there is about no chance at all of this. I like Guerrero but he has absolutely nothing for Floyd, will be a matter of whether he is stopped or not. Canelo is as good an opponent as anyone outside of Martinez though, that I would look forward to.

I see Mayweather on the cards yeh. The Ghost isn't outboxing Mayweather and if he lays inside his heart and will should be wearing gloves as well. But he'll grind, he'll guile and he'll continue to feed off of what got him here recently...doubt and drive. I won't be shocked to see him rough Mayweather up more than he was vs Cotto...his last fight...where he actually looked human. Hell...let Canelo sit ringside. Given his last couple of ring appearences and how the "sure thing opponent" got turned on his head I'm sure Guerrero won't mind a bit ;D I'll be rooting ten times as hard if Canelo is actually fighting Cotto :-X
Got no problem with the fight. Guerrero earned it. He might not win it but he'll be competitve
I'm not saying he will win but he sure surprised many people so far and he had me siting on the edge of my chair too. This year there were a great deal of changes. Like Floyd Patterson said before Sonny Liston got him in the first round, he said,"We'll see!"
Hope this fight takes place at 147 which should atleast make it a little more competetive. Guerrero gets hit too much though.
have no prob with the fight at all, Guerrero has actually earned his shot and has proven that he's only after the best, calling out top fighters to their face and picking good opposition to put him in position to do so, he called out the Mayweather wannabe and all he did was turn away and talk shit once Guerrero wasn't around, and yes IMO Guerrero beats Broner
Mayweather will probably outbox him and do it relatively easy, but after all the shit Robert Guerrero has been through in and out of the ring the guy pretty much deserves the big fight
I agree he should be high on the fighter of the year list, that he deserves a shot at Floyd but it's hard for me to give him a real chance against Floyd.Quote:

Have to agree, as much as I like Guerrero he has no chance against Money. A lot of fighters I would have preferred to see Guerrero fight instead of Mayweather, but I'd say they could still happen if he loses.

I wouldn't say no chance. I think there's better chance of winning a fight by boxing Floyd and not rough houseing him. He is so use to that tactic and so perfect at defending against it. Like cotto for example the rounds he won in the middle of the fight were boxing and if floyd went to the ropes trap him and throw combos. Can't imagine inactivity should matter. He's constantly training. Sure look what he did to Marquez after 2 years out.
An ok fight but like everyone else, I expect Floyd in a blockbuster everytime he fights..especially due to his inactivity. The only two fighters he needs on his CV for my money is Martinez and Canelo. Then he can ride off as one of the sure fire ATG's.
Canelo is young, strong and powerful. But he needs to step up the competition and fight trout.
We dont want to see another gomez, lopez, moseley or ryan rhodes.
Winner fights mayweather.
This is a safe fight for Floyd who is the best at welterweight. Guerroro can rough up Floyd but not for 12 rounds and when he tires he will be picked off by Floyd in the latter stages of the fight.
I'd rather see a Robert Guerrero against Tim bradley. I'm not impressed by the Berto fight he had a life and death was with Victor Ortiz lets be honest. Mayweather is top notch and getting older. Guerrero is a beast but I wanna see him against a legit name before he gets a shot before Canelo, Martinez, Bradley.
Victor Ortiz is 5'9 and weighed in at 165 fight night and got slaughtered. what makes Sergio not worth it @150 which he is willing to do? Robert should fight Devon Alexander he's not proven yet Berto is nothing more and a fast hard puncher. Anyone disagree?

Yup. It's not an exciting fight. Guerrero won't win. The odds will be way in PBF's favor. It actually doesn't make any sense. Why not fight Trout, after he just beat Cotto? Even though I think Cotto was better suited to welterweight than junior middleweight, beating Cotto at MSG is more impressive than beating Berto. Not to mention, Trout looks like a tougher fight. From what I've read, he's taking on Guerrero on Cinco De Mayo as he will bring a decent Mexican fan base. Canelo will be on the undercard, likely against Cotto, and the plan is to set up Mayweather-Canelo in Septmeber on a Mexican holiday weekend. So from a selling point of view, it makes perfect sense.
