New Years resolutions for 2013?

2012 was a good year for me here in East Texas, my family, friends, and business are all doing great, and my health is close to excellent, (for a 64 year old, old fart) so i've got no complaints.

Some of my resolutions for 2013 are:
1.) I'm 6'-1" and currently weigh 230, losing 30 lbs by the end May 2013. (high protein, low cal diet, along w/exercise, works like a charm. ;) )
2.) Re-starting my exercise program the 1st week in January 2013 which includes:
a. working out with weights 3 days a week.
b. 3-5 mile walks/runs - 3 to 4 days a week.
c. push-ups, sit-ups (crunches), daily.
3.) expanding my business, creating more profit and paying down credit card debt.

Anyone have any New Years resolutions?

I did that about 5 years ago, its the only one ive never broken. :cool:

I Need to loose 2 stone before end of feb.

Im 16 stone at the moment, 6 foot.

I lost 2 stone in two months earlier the year by going on the dokun diet but put it back on 4 months later!

I will try it again start of next year and make sure i change my diet completely and maintain it.

I just had a Gym built in my cabin in the garden with treadmill, punchbag etc. once im used to the routine the weight should fly off.

You should try the dokun diet.

I never done any exercises doing that but just changed what i ate.

The second child came along and the weight went back on but thats only because i ate and drank like a pig again.

I'm a middle aged man and I've got so many resolutions queued up in front of me that I can hardly catch up with them. But heck with them resolutions, I'm gonna just relax and enjoy the coming year without worrying about 'em. I'll just stretch my arms, take some deep breaths and yawn a bit and say, 'this is gonna be a good year for me' and really feel that and try to keep that feeling the rest of the year, as I usually do around new year, and that'll be perfectly fine for me...

Seriously, resolutions are okay but you've gotta to keep 'em realistic and most importantly, doable.

I've heard this simple principle in life somewhere, I don't who's the author since I heard it from a 2nd or 3rd hand source, but immediately when I heard it, I thought this must be the principle of principles of life that you must be living with. It goes something like this:

Ask yourself what is the most important thing that you can and should be doing, and why you aren't doing it (the implication here is that you're most likely not doing it)?

So why aren't you? That's a million dollar question.:cool:

Basically my New Year's resolutions are the same, lose some weight, re-start my exercise program that I stop doing for a while in November and December and setting personal priorities & realistic business goals. The key to carrying out my resolutions is self discipline and/or will power, qualities I have no shortage of.

My high protein, low cal diet coupled along with exercise works great for me, like you said, if I wouldn't eat and drink like a pig the last couple months of almost every year (and stop exercising), I wouldn't gain the weight back.
My goal this year is to keep the extra weight off permanently, and exercise, even if it's on a more limited basis, year round.

Maintain humor and turn the other cheek..more focus on family and roots..truth to others and knowledge of self and strive to simply make tomorrow better than yesterday. Simple as.

And lose some weight...and not knock someone the fuck out...just sayin ;D. Peace.

Nice plan, that's a realistic and a doable one. Problem with most of us folks are we make too much fancy resolutions and end up being fed up with them, like some here who said not to make one, which I myself used to say on the 'n.y. resolution' threads here every yearend.

I work out about an hour everyday myself to keep fit, and when I eat too much or fattening stuffs, I do some extras. Working out has been somewhat addictive for me so it hasn't been much of a problem. I sort of even feel guilty if I skip even once.

2012 was good for me too.

I quit football at the start of the year because my knees are damaged and started riding a bike which strengthened my knees and now I am playing again.

Exercise is part of my lifestyle and I do 35 minutes session when I come back from work. I have to do it because the knees are so messed up. However the more I have done it the fitter I have gotten and I swear I am in better condition than I was 8 years ago!
My new years resolutions are to keep being healthy and happy by regular exercise, football and sex. I also do not want to lose any more hair and teeth this year and watch far less porn.

1) Try to be more positive and stay calm. Hopeless nihilistic cynicism is an endemic British disease, but I seem to take to it too far. I need to moderate that a lot more and will.

2) Stay healthy. I shall row everyday. Not row as in argue which I do frequently, but the pulling of oars type of rowing though no oars shall be involved.

3) Get a small pet. I need something to talk to in my free time. Not a fish as they die too quickly and I find it painful.

4) Finish watching the IMDB top 250 films

5) Invent a new exotic virus with a chemistry set and sell it to the military of a terrorist state. Perhaps.

6) Destroy Facebook, Starbucks, the enivironment, and perhaps a rice cooker.

7) Learn to sew.

8) Smile at least once a day. Occasional grimace is an acceptable compromise.

9) That's quite enough.
