Lucas Matthysse vs. Michael Dallas Jr.,- Saturday night fight/chat thread
:pimp2: An entertaining card Saturday, it will be interesting to see how well Dallas Jr does against the hard hitting Lucas Matthysse, it's a big step up in competition for him.
Jan. 26
At Las Vegas (Showtime): Lucas Matthysse vs. Michael Dallas Jr., 12 rounds, for Matthysse's WBC interim junior welterweight title; Selcuk Aydin vs. Jesus Soto Karass, 10 rounds, welterweights; Jermell Charlo vs. Harry Joe Yorgey, 10 rounds, junior middleweights; Francisco Vargas vs. Ira Terry, 10 rounds, junior lightweights.
I believe Lucas will walk/break Mike down and stop him in one of the later rounds, but I wouldn't be surprised to see the fight go the distance, and Matthysse winning a decision.

Re: Lucas Matthysse vs. Michael Dallas Jr., on Showtime Saturday
I will most certainly be in the minority when I say Dallas by a points win.
-
Re: Lucas Matthysse vs. Michael Dallas Jr., on Showtime Saturday
Matthysse will make Dallas a bug on the windshield. Via splat.
-
Re: Lucas Matthysse vs. Michael Dallas Jr., on Showtime Saturday
I'll be shocked if Dallas sees the 3rd round
-
Re: Lucas Matthysse vs. Michael Dallas Jr., on Showtime Saturday
I have ringside seats for this event. :)
I'm flying to Las Vegas on Friday for a mini-vacation.

Re: Lucas Matthysse vs. Michael Dallas Jr., on Showtime Saturday
Matthysse is the favorite, and this match was chosen while they wait Garcia out. That said, Dallas could easily play the role of spoiler.

I don't know about easily, but yeah, it's not out of the realm of possibility that Dallas could steal a decision. Matthysse however, is at the top of his game right now, and I believe he's on a different level, Lucas by 10th round TKO after giving MDJ a beating.

I can understand the draw of setting ringside, but I like relaxing in front of the TV. Have fun!
Matthysse by KO after 5th.

Lucas Matthysse by complete annihilation.
-
Re: Lucas Matthysse vs. Michael Dallas Jr., on Showtime Saturday
I'm looking forward to seeing Matthysse again. Dallas has speed, boxing skills and heart, but Matthysse has already broken down superior boxers.
He will do so again. Its his time now.

I'm almost with VD on this one. I say Matthysse stops him inside the 3rd.

I reckon nothing compares to seeing fights live @ ringside, but I just don't care much for crowds at sporting events. Give me my leather recliner, big screen HD TV, my computer & a fight thread at Saddos, a couple of cold brews, and i'm good to go.

Ditto. I watched Leonard/Hearns 1 in the closed circuit days at a hockey stadium and that was ok but during Tysons run I gave the bars a go largely because I was sick of paying 60 bucks for a minute or two of brutality. I grew out of that right quick. I will never go to a sports bar to watch a fight again.

I havn't been to a Sports Bar in over 20 + years, and when I went, i'd usually end up getting shitfaced and spending more on drinks/beer/food then I would have if i'd stayed home and bought the PPV.
Even with the crowds I hate at live events, if I could get good seats, I'd still like to see a great boxing card, in Vegas et al, a time or 2 before I check out. Part of the fun is seeing the celebs and famous fighters who show up.
BTW, I went to see Leonard vs. Duran I, on closed circuit at a theater in Houston, Texas (1980) - the quality was fucking horrible, I couldn't even see most of the punches landing, or tell who was winning until the decision was announced.

Is it me or does Matthysse likes fighting boxers, e.g. Judah, Alexander, now Dallas, as opposed to sluggers or swarmers?

I don't think he cares Rantcat, just line 'um up and he'll knock him down, haha. One of the things I like about Lucas is he seems to genuinely enjoy beating the piss out of his opponents, gotta love the guy if you're a boxing fan.
cheers

I don't watch TV, but on my computer, I watch nearly every major fight.
There are never any good boxing events in the city where I live (Vancouver), but I like to attend a decent fightcard in Las Vegas every couple of years.
I'd love to attend a Wladimir Klitschko fight. I've been planning to go to the next one in the USA since 2009, but they've all been in Europe.

Re: Lucas Matthysse vs. Michael Dallas Jr.,- Saturday night fight/chat thread
:pimp2: I don't know how much of this card Showtime will air Saturday night, maybe only Matthysse vs Michael Dallas Jr & Selcuk Aydin vs. Jesus Soto Karass. This card starts @10:00 PM ET here in the States/Canada and @3:00 AM Sunday in the UK/Europe.
At Las Vegas (Showtime): Lucas Matthysse vs. Michael Dallas Jr., 12 rounds, for Matthysse's WBC interim junior welterweight title; Selcuk Aydin vs. Jesus Soto Karass, 10 rounds, welterweights; Jermell Charlo vs. Harry Joe Yorgey, 10 rounds, junior middleweights; Chad Bennett vs. Ben Ankrah, 12 rounds, junior welterweights.

This fight is on Box Nation, think it is the first time I will see Matthysse. Hope he is as good as you all make out to be.

You'll like him @Master, he's a tough SOB who walks his opponents down and usually stops them. Another thing I like is he fights often, unlike so many pugs these days.
Here's Highlights of Matthysse's last fight vs. Ajose Olusegun:

Re: Lucas Matthysse vs. Michael Dallas Jr.,- Saturday night fight/chat thread
I'm done for the week, have eaten a huge quantity of special cake and am about to go and start drinking heavily. Food and more cake at some point till the early hours, sleep all day Saturday and then back out again. Box Nation starts at three am Sunday and I confidently expect to be watchin it. The earlier bouts are on something called Sho Extreme and hopefully somebody strems them. The Box Nation show looks like it's two fights only. I'm picking Aydin/Argie.

What's with all the cake dude, stick to the brew, it never fails you, there's more old drunks then there are old doctors, so have another round. ;)
Box Nation might show the earlier fights on SHO-Extreme, if not there might be a stream somewhere, although I didn't see one when I looked.
As for the 2 main fights, Lucas by beatdown and TKO in the later rounds, Aydin's fight probably won't go 6 rounds before Soto Karass, gets to meet Jesus.

You're from Vancity? Shit I lived in Burnaby for 11 years then moved to San Diego to finish up my masters, coming back home and god damn there's this awesome Jelato place on Robson street downtown you gotta try. But yeah no fights in Vancouver, ever...ever :(

I don't think the judges are going to be a factor, I imagine Dallas Jr. is going to be bug-eyed before and after the fight starts, Lucas is fucking merciless.

Re: Lucas Matthysse vs. Michael Dallas Jr.,- Saturday night fight/chat thread
For any of you interested SHO-Extreme is showing the undercard fights right now:
Jermell Charlo vs. Harry Joe Yorgey, 10 rounds, junior middleweights; Francisco Vargas vs. Ira Terry, 10 rounds, junior lightweights; Errol Spence Jr. vs. Nathan Butcher, 4 rounds, junior middleweights; Julian Williams vs. Jeremiah Wiggins, 8 rounds, junior middleweights.
Julian Williams vs. Jeremiah Wiggins is on right now, already in the 6th round, Wiggins looks to be getting his ass kicked so far.
-
Re: Lucas Matthysse vs. Michael Dallas Jr.,- Saturday night fight/chat thread
Wiggins has an amazing fucking chin.
-
Re: Lucas Matthysse vs. Michael Dallas Jr.,- Saturday night fight/chat thread
Wiggins corner throws the towel in, Wiggins is pissed, I guess he wanted to continue taking a beating..
Officially a 7th round TKO for Williams.
-
Re: Lucas Matthysse vs. Michael Dallas Jr.,- Saturday night fight/chat thread
Brian Kenny in the studio, Tompkins and Gerbil Farhood calling the action for Sho-Ex.
Up next Francisco Vargas vs. Ira Terry, 10 rounds, junior lightweights.
