Ditto. I watched Leonard/Hearns 1 in the closed circuit days at a hockey stadium and that was ok but during Tysons run I gave the bars a go largely because I was sick of paying 60 bucks for a minute or two of brutality. I grew out of that right quick. I will never go to a sports bar to watch a fight again.
I havn't been to a Sports Bar in over 20 + years, and when I went, i'd usually end up getting shitfaced and spending more on drinks/beer/food then I would have if i'd stayed home and bought the PPV.
Even with the crowds I hate at live events, if I could get good seats, I'd still like to see a great boxing card, in Vegas et al, a time or 2 before I check out. Part of the fun is seeing the celebs and famous fighters who show up.
BTW, I went to see Leonard vs. Duran I, on closed circuit at a theater in Houston, Texas (1980) - the quality was fucking horrible, I couldn't even see most of the punches landing, or tell who was winning until the decision was announced.
I don't know how much of this card Showtime will air Saturday night, maybe only Matthysse vs Michael Dallas Jr & Selcuk Aydin vs. Jesus Soto Karass. This card starts @10:00 PM ET here in the States/Canada and @3:00 AM Sunday in the UK/Europe.
At Las Vegas (Showtime): Lucas Matthysse vs. Michael Dallas Jr., 12 rounds, for Matthysse's WBC interim junior welterweight title; Selcuk Aydin vs. Jesus Soto Karass, 10 rounds, welterweights; Jermell Charlo vs. Harry Joe Yorgey, 10 rounds, junior middleweights; Chad Bennett vs. Ben Ankrah, 12 rounds, junior welterweights.

This fight is on Box Nation, think it is the first time I will see Matthysse. Hope he is as good as you all make out to be.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
You'll like him @Master, he's a tough SOB who walks his opponents down and usually stops them. Another thing I like is he fights often, unlike so many pugs these days.
Here's Highlights of Matthysse's last fight vs. Ajose Olusegun:

I'm done for the week, have eaten a huge quantity of special cake and am about to go and start drinking heavily. Food and more cake at some point till the early hours, sleep all day Saturday and then back out again. Box Nation starts at three am Sunday and I confidently expect to be watchin it. The earlier bouts are on something called Sho Extreme and hopefully somebody strems them. The Box Nation show looks like it's two fights only. I'm picking Aydin/Argie.
up next: Selcuk Aydin vs. Jesus Soto Karass, let's hope we see a good scrap.
Aydin looks all business, Karass might be in trouble.
Nice little fight here, Aydin seems to have the edge in speed and power, Karass, bigger but much slower.
Aydin needs to turn it up a notch, he's letting Karass take the play away and/or outwork him.
