That must have been what? 1996? Wasn't that the same year Vitali failed a drugs test and was kicked off the Olympic squad? Or was it after?

Evander Holyfield is the one that took steroids, it was blatantly obvious from his heavily muscled physique, vascularity and incredibly low body fat.

I love how quick people are to write off the notion that Tyson might have used steroids.
Of course he could have, both he and Holy probably took them for much of their careers. After Tysons admission about cheating drug tests with a fake dick a while back, it's pretty hard to believe he wasn't taking something performance enhancing as well, especially given how his actual boxing skills had declined so much by the 90's. Think about what kind of person he was, why the hell wouldn't he have taken roids lol.
Agreed, by Tysons own account he was a hardcore drug addict. If he was willing to load his body with cocaine I'm sure some steroids wouldn't be out of the question

There's a chance that Tyson took PEDs... Same as with ANY elite athlete, but Tyson wasn't implicated in the BALCO scandal like Holyfield was and he didn't suffer from any of the anecdotal side effects of steroid use like Holyfield or James Toney etc have.

You both have a point, he's been open about a lot of things, but other than his children, his boxing career is one of the few things I can think of that he will look back at with absolute pride.
Doesn't mean he would or wouldn't shit on it, but it's a separate thing to all of the stuff he has copped to. Like has been said, he was HUGE at 13 years old. It's nothing more than a possibility either way and will probably always be.
Mike had great genetics, that's for sure. One doesn't simply take steroids and hit like Mike Tyson: there are tons of guys who take steroids and none of them hit like Tyson.
