Peterson vs. Matthysse at 141-Pound Catch-Weight - Boxing News
Apparently no belts on the line for this. I think it has been done so Matthysse keeps his #1 WBC rating at 140lbs regardless of the outcome. This is now technically a 12 Round Welterweight contest. This doesn't really make sense since they are both 140lb fighters and the winner is going to get Garcia/Judah regardless.
Anyone else understand this?
What the heck? Both of them fight at 140 and they're not moving up either so why a catch weight of a single pound? If you don't want to fight for the title then just make it a non-title fight.

Since he will not allow his title holder to hold another title should Lucas win the Ibf he would automatically be kicked out of even fighting for the Wbc dunce cap. Winner of Peterson vs Matthysee to face the winner of Judah vs Garcia
GBP is losing faith in Peterson with all the PED talks.
GBP is hoping Matthysee win to raise his stock and keep the tourney alive.
Meanwhile. Peterson will still have the title to face Broner in which is in the plans to drop down after his June 22nd fight against The Magic Man(win or lose). Believe me when I tell you, the plan is to have Broner face Peterson as a voluntary defense since Matthysee will still be #1 mandatory and busy facing the Garcia or Judah. That way . . .
1. The money stay in house with there lightweights.
2. They cash out on Peterson(Win or lose against Mathysee or Broner)
3. They keep Broner revalent if he don't get pass Paulie.
4. And they set up another major fight with Peterson vs Broner winner to face Khan vs Tourney winner.
5. They keep all the MONEY.

Thsi fight ins't exciting at the sound of it... and if it isn't for a title at a division, then it is less than exciting.
I have another theory...and that is that GBP know that Garcia is going to give up his WBC title and they know if Matthysse keeps his position he'll automatically become WBC full Champion, thus keeping the belt away from any of Arum's boys such as Rios/Alvarado. Problem with that theory is Matthysse wants Garcia more than the WBC title. He's gonna continue to chase the fight. Not the titleQuote:
