Roy Jones Jr accepts Anderson Silva's challenge
Roy Jones Jr. Ready To Accept Anderson Silva Challenge - Boxing News
SOrry to dissapoint you Matty but this will be a boxing match, no fag rules like holding and shit like that.. Strictly a man's boxing match..
How many of ya are stoked for this fight?

Re: Roy Jones Jr accepts Anderson Silva's challenge
Won't happen. Silva's signed to a 10 fight contract with the UFC and Dana White would never let this happen. Doesn't do him any good to have his champ and p4p best get destroyed in a boxing match by a washed up Roy Jones.
-
Re: Roy Jones Jr accepts Anderson Silva's challenge
I thought Jones was fighting Steve Collins?
-
Jones is a joke.
Never thought i would say that but surely this guy must realise he is at that evander holyfield level.
Roy looked so old on that gloves off programme and he needs someone close to him to tell him to give it up.
-
Re: Roy Jones Jr accepts Anderson Silva's challenge
Jones needs to fuck right off. Sorry dude but you are embarrassing yourself.
-
Re: Roy Jones Jr accepts Anderson Silva's challenge
I wouldn't mind seeing Jones destroy Silva. Silva has boxed pro before. So it shouldn't be something that's completely foreign to him.

My first thoughts exactly! Dana White is a c**t and would never let this happen. In saying that I would love to this fight!!!
-
Re: Roy Jones Jr accepts Anderson Silva's challenge
Dana wouldn't let Diaz fight a washed up Jeff Lacy. He wouldn't let his prized asset take this. I don't think Silva has signed his 10 fight deal yet.

Re: Roy Jones Jr accepts Anderson Silva's challenge
I dont agree. Silva is too fast and too strong for a 2013 Jones. Ideal situation for Dana to show how better UFC fighters are then boxers

Huh:confused: Even in an MMA match, about the only advantages Anderson WOULDN'T have over Jones are raw speed and strength. In a boxing match, he would have sweet fuck all to offer anyone remotely decent and even the corpse of Roy Jones would knock him flat out.

Jones would win in the ring. Probably not in the cage.

Do you think he could beat Michael Phelps in the pool, if he was allowed to throw punches?

What if it was a race except no lanes and you could still win by KO from a punch. If Jones just stayed in the shallow end he'd have a chance right:confused:

Roy is still one of the best swimmers in boxing though! I think he could hold his own with Phelps for a while, especially if he hurt him with a punch first.

Jones' chin is so cracked at this point that he would probably get knocked out by Phelps splashing him.

;D I don't know though, Jones would probably still have a better chin than most people Phelps is used to competing against. I have heard that Phelps has a really good left hook for a swimmer though, hard to say who has the edge where really.

Roy could conserve energy and just wait to try to catch Phelps on the way back.

Your utter ignorance is showing. It's a well-known fact that Ryan Lochte sparred 12 hard rounds with a prime Jesse Feleciano as part of his preparation for the 2009 North American Summer Games.

Yes, his best chance would be to strafe back and forth along the shallow end trying to intercept Phelps turning around and get his flurries off there. I don't know how many lengths Phelps could finish if Roy landed something big on him. I guess maybe the ref wouldn't be able to tell his legs are gone since it's underwater though:confused: He might get the benefit of the doubt there.

Roy's strafing ability in water would be key.
I don't know why contracts aren't signed and a date set yet.

Phelps sparred with our ICB leading up to Beijing and London, that's why he has more gold medals ok. I bet ICB is a way better swimmer than Feliciano is to.

I've heard it's likely for Dubai summer of 2017.

Hardly pal. Silva is what, 39 himself? He does not have faster hands than Roy Jones by any stretch of the imagination even today. I'm actually a fan of Silvas, he's my favourite MMA fighter by far and I think he has incredible skills. Of course he's comfortable with everything he does IN AN MMA FIGHT, but that's not what is being discussed here is it. To actually think because he can outbox the guys he fights he'd have a chance in a serious boxing match, is being clueless.
Silva's reflexes are unbelievable, he would have no problem countering Jones and would hit him at will. Fights never going to happen anyway
-
Anderson Silva got knocked out in the first of his 2 pro boxing fights. I've seen him attempt an Ali shuffle in a boxing match and walk straight onto a punch because of it. He's not and never will be a boxer. To think he could even beat a washed up Jones is ridiculous.
He looks good standing up against MMA level boxers but it'd be a whole different matter against a professional boxer who's operated at such a high level, even one as shot as Jones. They're completely different sports. It would be the boxing version of Couture v Toney.

Oh good lord man. Lots of people have unbelievable reflexes, what on earth does that have to do with being able to counter punch a trained boxer. Silva does not box, he doesn't fight boxers, he has learned to operate under an entirely different skillset. A lot of his stand up is based on looking for and defending takedowns, the balance, stance etc is completely different and would put you in deep shit in a boxing match. Of course the fight won't happen, because it would be a complete sideshow which would look terrible for MMA.
-
Re: Roy Jones Jr accepts Anderson Silva's challenge
Out of all the people Silva has ever fought he has never fought someone with boxing skills like Roy. Not even close.
Fighting with boxing rules would put Silva at a huge disadvantage. Roy wouldn't have to worry about the clinch, kicks, elbows or knees and Silva wouldn't be able to use his brad and butter tools.
In a boxing match Silva doesn't stand a chance. In a muay thai match Roy doesn't stand a chance.
