How can Floyd's punch-resistance be lower now if he never got hit?
This guy has almost never got hit. Mosely nailed him 3 times with hard rights, Judah caught him once, and Castillo landed some nice shots.
Can we say his resistance could be getting lower if he has not really ever got hit or let's say seriously hurt? Yes he was hanging on for dear life when Mosely nailed him, dear life, he was holding on like a lichen to a rock.
But will we find out he never had such a great chin in this upcoming fight? I always called him Glass-Jaw Floyd and I took lots of shit for it. I agree how can we even really know if this dude is slipperier than a vaselined fish? Nobody can touch him to even find out ....
But is there a CHANCE that his current age of 36 will be bringing down his punch resistance? I cant see him getting hit in the head, but I can envision a Canelo body shot catching him whilst backpeddling, really hurting him good --- he may need to take a knee or even 2 knees at different times in the fight, from ripping lefts to the liver.

Whose saying it is? He's been hit plenty of times, just not consistently throughout fights, which really puts wear on you. Just recently Cotto, Ortiz and Marquez all hit him with good punches at some point or other. He wasn't shaken up by them and there was no follow up so it's easily forgotten, but if you think he actually has a glass jaw you're... brocktonblockbuster. Right, nevermind;D

Age must be a factor in the sense it slows down a fighter and he gets hit more.
Floyd took some heavy shots against Cotto but overall he has very good punch resistance for his age.
Canelo just needs to time his punch right and then jump on him and take him out. If Saul does not do it then no one will.

This is spot on. The only thing I would add is that for those first 2 to 4 rounds..Canelo just needs to make sure he's touching him. If he lands a good shot then that's a bonus. But make sure you touch him. Hit him on the arms, the shoulders, who cares. Just find him. Should be an interesting match up.

i remember talking to arturo gatti on a conference call in june 2005 1 week b4 his mayweather maych---i had the rights to a conference call as i was working for rabbitpunchboxing.com and had a press pass---i also talked to buddy mcgirt on the same phone call---all this was broadcast live on some southwestern radio station-----and mcgirt was saying that arturo was gonna be smashing floyd on the elbows, forearms, shoulders, to slow him down, keep touchin him...............
arturo touched nothing that night in new jersey----he touched oxygen, argon, xenon, he touched nothing but air. couldnt even find floyd;s fucking hacuna-matata as buddy called it---the spot right behind the ear. plan was to catch him there when he did his shoulder-rolling shit.

I just don't see him getting caught with that kind of punch. When he does it will be because he stayed to long. Like Roy in the Tarver fight. He will never walk into a punch like Walcott did either.;)

Floyd was letting him batter his body and wasn't bothered at all by the power. There was a more extensive version on youtube if somebody can remember who it was. I want to say it was Omar Henry? Believe I saw that as well, it would've been in the build up to fighting Cotto since Henry emulated his style so closely. He was just a 154 lber I believe but certainly much bigger than Floyd naturally. The guy died not long ago of a rare cancer at just 25, pretty sad.

Key word is letting him. Punches are easier to handle when you know there coming.

Floyd has been hurt more in recent fights, but to his credit he holds on, survives the storm, and then just never makes the same mistake again. Judah smacked him good, Mosley cracked him, Cotto touched him up pretty hard....but Floyd is tough and he has very good defense and much more than that the few times Floyd has been hurt he IMMEDIATELY puts himself in a position where his opponent can't follow up. Against Shane Mosley, round 2, Shane lands a great right cross and Floyd gets hurt and he clings to Mosley like an octopus and by the time the ref breaks the fighters Floyd's head is clear enough for him to play defense for a while and ALSO at that time Shane is swinging for the fences to the punches were telegraphed for Floyd to pick off.
To KO Floyd you'll either have to surprise him or be a hell of a lot stronger than him and I don't really see anyone doing that soon......I would LIKE to but I just don't see it happening.

agreed. it IS possible that youth ----that a 23 yr old baby----could catch him with a lucky shot, speed and youth 'n all..............but yeah, it aint happenin. Floyd will just shoulder-roll and grab and forearm to the throat, buy time, recover, and punish him.

I don't think Roy was ever caught with as good a punch as Mosley caught Floyd with... well until Tarver in 2004.
I think Floyd's toughness is hugely underrated. If you go back and look earlier in his career (when he was actually considered a "boxer-puncher" and something of a KO artist), he had some pretty gutsy wars. He straight up brawled with Emmanuel Augustus if I remember right.
Floyd is the full package (like guys like Leonard and Ray Robinson were): amazing skill and athletic ability, partnered with toughness and heart.
Floyd's a savvy veteran who knows what to do in any situation... if someone's going to beat him, they're going to have to totally beat him down or knock him out cold.

I am not sure if you meant to say my name because i never been a huge Mayweather fan i give him his due. I on most occasion argue with bean on his status because he thinks he is the greatest of all time. I say he is at best 11 because i cant rate him over Leonard to save my life i hope the fight goes well though and i kinda hope Canleo does win because we need someone to carry on. I mean he is pretty much the future when it comes to being a star we dont really have to many other people that are going to do it.
