Murat has visa issues and the fight is off. B hop is looking for a September date now. And this won't be against Murat.

i never expected this fight to happen, i dunno why
Stevenson wants B hop next and with B hop wanting a September fight and Stevenson wanting it too this could be a likely showdown. B hop would have beaten Murat anyway and with him being so old he should be looking for a big fight like this.
Stevenson has said if he can't fight B hop he wants two fights with Ward, one at 168 in America and the rematch at 175 in Canada.
But there is the Bellew mandatory there for Stevenson as well.
Probably couldn't give tickets away.
Damn, I was looking forward to that one... lol :p
My guess is that after Murat didn't get his visa B hop will be annoyed that he's been messed around after Murat was given the opportunity. B hop shouldn't be wasting time with fights like this, it won't prove much. If I was as old as B hop I would just be going for Stevenson and then keep trying to lure Froch in for a fight. If B hop becomes the legit 175 champ again, this could attract Froch to move up in the not too distant future.
This was a real mundane tune up fight on paper like B-hop vs. Enrique Orneales was a few years ago.
Surely, Yusaf Mack or Edison Miranda coulda stepped in for this one.
Oh well, onwards and upwards for B-Hop.
I'd like to see him fight Adonis Stevenson next.
Frank warren has said cleverly would unify with Stevenson

I guess everybody knows who Karo Murat is :rolleyes:Quote:
Spoke to @GoldenBoyBoxing's Richard Schaefer, who says a Kovalev fight is "up to @THEREALBHOP" but doesn't sound enthused about making it.
Schaefer: "I don't know how attractive that fight is. I've never heard of [Kovalev], many people have never heard of him."
Schaefer: "That doesn't mean he is not good. Bernard wants historically significant fights, and that means unifications."
How is it that Murat was even a mandatory to begin with? Hopkins must of signed on to fight Clouds mandatory in order to get him to step aside which I find hard to believe or he'd have an option. You would think after more then 25 years of over achievement, he would be allowed to go out on a super fight after surprising much of the world with yet another old master like performance. Hop should just throw the tin in the garbage and get the fight he wants. Then Murat and Kovalev can fight for the paper.
Hopkins needs the straps as he is not a big enough draw to fight without them. It carries some significance for his legacy as well so he will defend them against whoever he has too in order to retain them. Oddly enough there is no huge fights there for him or even challenges on the horizon even if he goes up to cruiserweight.
Cant agree. Guys like Froch, Cleverly and Stevenson all want him as a notch on their belt. He could unify with either tin toddler or fight Froch at a catch weight. He should not at this time in his career be forced to ffight a no name like Kovalev who was implanted in. If he signed on to inherit Clouds mandatory then so be it but that mandatory bailed at the last minute quoting visa issues. That is not Hops problem. He should now be able to pursue a more lucrative fight. Hop has never been stripped over his career which is starting to creep into Moores 28 year territory.
Bernard Hopkins responds to IBF ruling on Kovalev fight
There was talk of HBO wanting Kovalev-Cleverly in August. Now that Hopkins seems open to fighting Kovalev that could change. Let's see what happens...
