    From Chris Mannix' twitter

Spoke to @GoldenBoyBoxing's Richard Schaefer, who says a Kovalev fight is "up to @THEREALBHOP" but doesn't sound enthused about making it.

Schaefer: "I don't know how attractive that fight is. I've never heard of [Kovalev], many people have never heard of him."

Schaefer: "That doesn't mean he is not good. Bernard wants historically significant fights, and that means unifications."
I guess everybody knows who Karo Murat is

How is it that Murat was even a mandatory to begin with? Hopkins must of signed on to fight Clouds mandatory in order to get him to step aside which I find hard to believe or he'd have an option. You would think after more then 25 years of over achievement, he would be allowed to go out on a super fight after surprising much of the world with yet another old master like performance. Hop should just throw the tin in the garbage and get the fight he wants. Then Murat and Kovalev can fight for the paper.

Hopkins needs the straps as he is not a big enough draw to fight without them. It carries some significance for his legacy as well so he will defend them against whoever he has too in order to retain them. Oddly enough there is no huge fights there for him or even challenges on the horizon even if he goes up to cruiserweight.

You know, IF Dennis Lebedev still had a belt or were to get one again then that could be marketable as that down syndrome looking fuck feasted on the corpses of Toney and Jones Jr.
"You knocked him down...now how bout you try knockin me down ?"

Cant agree. Guys like Froch, Cleverly and Stevenson all want him as a notch on their belt. He could unify with either tin toddler or fight Froch at a catch weight. He should not at this time in his career be forced to ffight a no name like Kovalev who was implanted in. If he signed on to inherit Clouds mandatory then so be it but that mandatory bailed at the last minute quoting visa issues. That is not Hops problem. He should now be able to pursue a more lucrative fight. Hop has never been stripped over his career which is starting to creep into Moores 28 year territory.

Bernard Hopkins responds to IBF ruling on Kovalev fight

There was talk of HBO wanting Kovalev-Cleverly in August. Now that Hopkins seems open to fighting Kovalev that could change. Let's see what happens...
