No Price will probably win a boring decision.
Price will box more carefully and win this time.
Price will stop this turkey in or around the 9th round. And you can tell that, home boy
I don't know. Seeing how easily he went down on a nothing punch Thompson may let his hands go more. He would be wise to attack Price and put some fear in his mind early.
I really think Price will get a standing tko round about the 7th or 8th.
Price is by far the better and fresher fighter , however Price is so dodgy round the chin its a pickem fight.
Thompson TKO 5
Price needs to believe and be a bit more aggressive.
If he gets beaten again then he should think about becoming a commentator for ch5.
Is my math off or is this Price's 4th straight fight against a 40+ year old?
Firstly it wasn't a nothing punch, it burst his ear. I was once hit on the ear with a football and I burst my ear, I couldn't stand straight for an hour and I puked for2 days.
Wlad had a suspect chin and tightened his defences.
Granted that having a rock chin in the HW division is a good thing, but its not impossible to win when your chin is just average.
I said when Thompson was announced as his opponent in the first fight its too much of a jump in class.
He hasn't had to deal with adversity yet, not learnt anything unlike Fury who has. He hasn't had to come back from being hurt or dropped and to be honest it doesn't look like he's capable of it either because he had the chance against Thompson but he was in such bad shape, the ref didn't give him the chance to hold the round out.
I think Thompson stops him again and I think Price will shit himself when Thompson pressures him. He's looked shaky in fights against Skelton and Sexton when pressured.
Like someone has already said, Price was on top in the last fight and still got stopped.
It was a punch that would knock most heavyweights down, similar to Garcia's first knockdown of Khan. Granted it was a good shot, but being that tall and hitting you in that spot which offsets balance is only gonna cause you trouble. I think a few cautious rounds then Price comes out explosive. IMO that's what he needs to do to move up the rankings and get his name moving up.
Is Lewis actually in Prices corner then?
Price takes cautious to new levels for a few rounds, Thompson becomes an inactive punch bag by about round 5 and Price wins a UD.
Unlike Fury, Price will not need to get Thompson in a headlock to knock him out. If Thompson thinks he can intimidate Price by rushing him then Price knocks him out within 3 rounds. Whatever style Thompson employs Price will at some point land with a big shot. Bearing in mind how hard he hits Thompson will not just be dazed but fully unconscious before the 12th. Price by explosive KO round 5.
Hahaha! What is wrong with you, you pissy little bitch!;D
Both Johnson and Cunningham are "close to as good as Thompson";)
Get over yourself. Price has got as far as he's going. Fell at the first ex title challenger he faced.
As for Price not being expected to win against Thompson! Are you for fucking real?;D
Take alook at this and remember hard, every fucker in here expected Price to smash Thompson to bits, you yourself even expected Price to win in the second!;D
Hahahahahahaha;D

i would like to see price win by knockout
i have a feeling its going to go the same way tho
i have taken punches off heavyweights absolutely nowhere near this kind of level and they hit very hard when it doesnt look like they are putting anything into it
and people can tell me it burst his ear and all that but the fact remains this is top class hw boxing and a top class hw boxer with any kind of prospect needs to be able to take punches like that
Thompson was levels above anything Price had fought previously, nothing has changed on that front. He should be confident of repeating and looked in good shape last week at the Gavin fight. I'm not sure how much of an effect 8 weeks with Lewis will have on Price right now, it's a totally different prospect trying to implement new things you've been working on in the gym come fight night. I could easily see a more patient, disciplined Price winning this one but I'm leaning towards Thompson stopping him again. Credit to Price for jumping straight back in there though, I hope it works and he gets the win. I'm just not sure of it.
Price has never had the best chin,! but the punch that done him landed behind the ear,
that's the thing with HW boxing big men big punches.!
Put it this way I'm not putting a bet on the fight.;D
"It wasn't a nothing punch, it burst his ear"......well big whoopty fuck. Gloves can trap air and screw up a fighter's ear it's happened before. Furthermore Tony Thompson doesn't have huge power, this isn't a Lamon Brewster or a Corrie Sanders or a Sam Peter or a David Haye kind of guy, this is a guy who has just over a 62% KO ratio it's not like Price is in there with Earnie Shavers or anything.
I think Price will eventually right himself but I think even if he was to win vs Thompson he will have points of uncertainty and panic. Price will most definitely get hurt in the fight...whether or not he recovers is up to his will, determination, and how confident he is in his corner.
Price is a good heavyweight, but Tony Thompson is CRIMINALLY underrated mainly because people don't want to give any credence to just how Great Wladimir Klitschko is. This is a very tough fight for Price psychologically. I hope for his sake that he remembers to protect himself, he is deliberate with his punches and stays out of danger. Pump the jab for the first few rounds, settle down, don't look to throw those long loopy hooks to the body, be quick with your punches and get back in a defensive position. If Price redeems himself that's a huge step forward in his career, but if he loses again all is not lost, it'll set him back a ways but he can still make noise in the division.
....as for how Fury would do vs Thompson.... he wouldn't fare much better. Thompson is a much more polished boxer than Fury and Tyson would get a boxing lesson. Thompson is a very good fighter, very difficult for most to beat. he's big he has a great jab, he's a southpaw, and he's got very solid defense and a pretty solid chin too.
I don't agree that the punch landed in a perfect spot, I just think Price has a shit chin.
If Price gets caught he's in trouble, don't think him being ko'd is anything to do with class or levels, he is a massive puncher so has a great chance of reversing the result this time. In fact I'm certain Price is one of the biggest punchers in boxing, only GGG, who can obviously knockdown walls, probably hits harder.
Price KO 1-4. (although the 9/2 about Thompson ironing him again is bloddy tempting)
I compliment Haye's ability more often than not it's his attitude that I hate. Haye has all the skill in the world and he COULD be a solid #3 heavyweight in the world and earn another shot vs Wlad IF he did more fighting and less talking. I'm shocked that Haye has not taken advantage of his skill set more in the division...its a shame for his fans that he has the attitude of a spoiled loser
The bet for this fight is either fighter to win in rounds 1-6 at 5/6 with Skybet.
Thompson will come out swinging and we'll find out a lot more about what Price is made of.
Was Thompson in trouble in the first fight? I must have missed that. If anyone is getting sparked before half way I can only see that being Price I'm afraid.
He didnt shake him up or hurt Thompson at all. He landed a couple of tomes but he showed no signs of being hurt at all. If you think he did, get a youtube link and show us where?
I have a feeling Thompson will play possum and lure Price in , however it would be nice if Thompson really comes out looking for the KO.
It will be fun while it lasts.

Around the 7:30 mark about halfway in the 2nd round, Price landed some very solid blows. Thompson used very good defense and there is either a slip or Thompson's knee gives a bit indicating he got a little buzzed. Either way Thompson ended up falling backwards into the corner...I think he was the slightest bit hurt but when Price started hammering the body it allowed Thompson to recover and Price also closed the distance taking steam off his punches and allowed Thompson to tie him up.
I think its a bit rich Ross asking for evidence of a fighter being hurt, particularly where David Price is concerned. He routinely spots things that no one else spots which on replay didnt actually happen ;D
I did catch the last 20 seconds of the Thompson-Price fight on youtube while doing some prep-work for my Prediction Competition championship, so I feel like a bit of an expert on this rematch. To be fair I don't know if you can make a definitive decision about Price's chin, it was an eardrum shot, and those can screw up your equilibrium (it seems like that's especially so early in a fight). He had all the tell-tale signs of it. In those 20 seconds I was not impressed with Price's defense though.
My gut feeling is Price wins the rematch, but the fact that Rhun picked him to win by KO has me a bit worried.
I've called for a Price KO but I wouldn't be surprised if its the other way. Both men are capable of knockouts and Thompson has proved he can do it on Price before. But I do think Price is a decent fighter and with Lennox I really do hope he has learnt and can adjust to beat Thompson. I think he will be a lot more cautious though no doubt and I think that's what he will need to be, he needs to take the fight into the later rounds. Price needs to use his height and box more.
Also is the Lennox help a one off thing? Or is he going to help Price more?
Jesus, watching the fight again, thanks to that link posted, why is Thompson the underdog?
I also think a mod should change the thread title to the fight chat thread as its on topic and the fights tomorrow.
Thompson weighed in 259
Price 250
