"It wasn't a nothing punch, it burst his ear"......well big whoopty fuck. Gloves can trap air and screw up a fighter's ear it's happened before. Furthermore Tony Thompson doesn't have huge power, this isn't a Lamon Brewster or a Corrie Sanders or a Sam Peter or a David Haye kind of guy, this is a guy who has just over a 62% KO ratio it's not like Price is in there with Earnie Shavers or anything.
I think Price will eventually right himself but I think even if he was to win vs Thompson he will have points of uncertainty and panic. Price will most definitely get hurt in the fight...whether or not he recovers is up to his will, determination, and how confident he is in his corner.
Price is a good heavyweight, but Tony Thompson is CRIMINALLY underrated mainly because people don't want to give any credence to just how Great Wladimir Klitschko is. This is a very tough fight for Price psychologically. I hope for his sake that he remembers to protect himself, he is deliberate with his punches and stays out of danger. Pump the jab for the first few rounds, settle down, don't look to throw those long loopy hooks to the body, be quick with your punches and get back in a defensive position. If Price redeems himself that's a huge step forward in his career, but if he loses again all is not lost, it'll set him back a ways but he can still make noise in the division.
....as for how Fury would do vs Thompson....he wouldn't fare much better. Thompson is a much more polished boxer than Fury and Tyson would get a boxing lesson. Thompson is a very good fighter, very difficult for most to beat. he's big he has a great jab, he's a southpaw, and he's got very solid defense and a pretty solid chin too.
