Silva (mma's equivalent to Roy Jones) was recently KO'd in a shocker of an upset.
Incidentally, before he was KO'd Silva was discussing a boxing match against one Roy Jones.
I feared Silva could beat Roy even in a boxing match or make it humiliatingly close due to Roy being totally shot and so merciful in recent years as to let anyone go the distance with him.
IF they do indeed box maybe Roy will be inspired by the recent KO loss of Silva and put some mustard on his shots.

There's a pretty fundamental difference in the two defeats though, among other things. Roy Jones respected Antonio Tarvers ability, and was actually throwing punches himself until he was KO'd. All the Silva fight really showed was that any capable fighter your size can knock you out if you offer your chin like that repeatedly. It was a lot different than Jones showboating while still in balance and position to counter, Anderson was just being a flat out clown. Now of course he's gotten away with it before in spots, but that same thing could have happened then.

The way your speaking im going to assume that you never seen mma guys in the boxing ring. Guys that are monsters with their hands in the ufc like silva and vitor, look like little kids with no power or skill in the ring. Its embarrassing, they can barely get through guys that are fighting for sandwiches. Roy would destroy him, and any guy that beat roy out of his prime would destroy him. Andersons punches would offer no power, or speed, or skill, boxing is a whole nother level of mastery, for christ, even jeff lacy would kick his ass.

THis is the thing that really annoys the shit outa me about the whole Boxing VS MMA thing. It was around two years ago when there were talks of Nick Diaz going up against Jeff Lacy in a boxing match.. The fight almost got made until Nick Diaz pulled out like a pansy.
It's unbelievable how so many so called boxing fans predicted that Diaz would win.. That's just stupid..

Sure I would tough guy. Hell, I was picking Roy to beat Prince Badi Ajamu when over half the forum was predicting Roy would get stopped early.
Roy has declined dramatically since even then tho, and it would concern me him boxing Anderson Silva as I think he would try to carry Silva and not throw many punches while Silva would most likely try to KO him.

I do agree that a boxer has a better chance of success in MMA than the other way around because at least the boxer has mastered one of the arts coming in. But Brock Lesnar was not merely an entertainment wrestler. He was an actual superb REAL wrestler. He was an All American every year in juco then D1. He also was a D1 national champ. The sports are really not comparable in this aspect. Boxing is a specialist sport and MMA is a versatility sport. Thats a good point, he was a tremendous wrestler, buut i wasn't talking about just him, there were others who've found success in mma and not have a strong fighting background. Being super strong helps alot inthe cage, in boxing not so much, even kimbo who has great hands for the mma, looks like a joke in the ring, almost got knocked out his last fight. Btw did you know both Klitchkos have a wrestling background, and Vitali has a kick boxing background, i would actually love to see them in the cage, although id be worried about the safety of any strikers they face.

I guess it depends on what you consider success. In boxing this Mr. Slice fellow, lesser known as Kevin Ferguson, almost got knocked out but in MMA he did get knocked out...twice in like his 6 fights. Once standing and once on the ground. Kimbo was a freak/sideshow in MMA as he is in boxing KOing bums on bum television. Kimbo's success was his drawing power gained from his following on his youtube backyard fights. He was put on TUF for his draw power and then lost his first match. Kimbo drew the most views TUF ever had at the time. Dana knew Kimbo didn't belong just as James Toney didn't but he used them as a drawing sideshow. Boxing doesn't afford fighters such routes. I know some boxing fans still don't want to give MMA their props but it has turned the evolutionary corner and you can't just come into that sport like you could in the 90s.
Anyway, I did not know the Klitschkos had a wrestling background. Are you sure? What kind of background? I knew of Vitali's kickboxing that is very well known. He was world class. But I'd be interested to know of what kind of wrestling experience either one of them had. Are you pulling my leg? And don't tell me Wladimir's background is he wrestled like 2 matches as JV in 10th grade. :cool: Or this one time...in band camp.:p

I worry about this shot Roy Jones is my point. I've lost a lot of faith in him. You may not be concerned Anderson could KO him, but I am.
No, I'm not crazy about the guy and don't know him that well. Sparred him a few years ago and got my ass whipped not dropped or hurt but bested, but I by no means think he could beat Donaire, even if he would have a size advantage seein as he fights at 135 (that's mma bantamweight).
