After this idiot left Warren he turned down Matchroom to sign with Hennessy. Turns Pro as an Olympic gold medalist, five years later is a virtual nobody

Check Frochs first five years. Fought absolutely no one of note!
There is time for De Gale. Isnt he the Euro champ? Thtas further forward than Froch was 5 uears in to his career.

he is the wbc silver champ isnt he
to be fair to him hes had less than 20 fights, how many fighters with less than 20 fights would be fighting top world class fighters
i dont think his record is any worse than groves and everyone is happy with groves progress
he's just not had the same exposure
he's gone on to channel 5 and is almost like their third fighter

Froch didn't turn pro with a Gold medal and headline PPV cards in his 11th/12th fight. The point is - DeGale is less relevant now than back then. Sad

Re: James Degale gets yet another World Class opponent!
I quite like DeGale, I think he's a top talent. He's thick as shit. But I don't hold that against people

I wanna see sweetness allan get a piece of this chump

Re: James Degale gets yet another World Class opponent!
James must have thought he had the world at his feet when he won the Olympics but after 5 years and 1 loss he is experiencing how unforgiving boxing can be.
Audley was a letdown but he stayed in the public eye. James has gone into obscurity so must be disappointed how his career is progressing especially as the new crop of Olympians have come through. The focus is on them and people have forgotten about him
He'll have an eye on froch vs groves and as long as he keeps winning he will get to world class. The guy has talent just hasn't really proven it in the pros
-
Re: James Degale gets yet another World Class opponent!
There is something in his style I find more interesting than Groves (as a comparison). He puts combinations together, gets in close and uppercuts.
Dont know how good his chin is but if its ok and he can sort his fitness out (although hes with Jim McDonell who sposed to be a fitness freak so youd think of anything he wouldnt get or look as tired as he has done) then he could well outwork alot of fighters. For me though he has a lot more to work on.
Groves might surprise us all and make Froch look stupid, which is something I can see and Froch knows has a chance of happening as hes already asked Groves basically to stand still before the press conference to announce the fight was even held!
Froch has a good chance of losing and then could lose to DeGale in a comeback and his career is ruined.

Re: James Degale gets yet another World Class opponent!
Since De Gale has been on channel 5 I have liked him, he seems more down to earth and humble. He will need to take his time and win a trinket.

But, compare it to Groves. Groves is running laps around the poor guy.

Groves could take a battering by Froch and that will be not good for his career.

Groves wont last long. He doesnt have a bad chin but its not world class, its not even great for british standard. He has the piss taken out of him being KO'd in sparring.
So far De Gale doesnt have any issues or rumours about his chin.

Re: James Degale gets yet another World Class opponent!
I am more excited about Eubanks Jnr.
-
Re: James Degale gets yet another World Class opponent!
You heard it here first! I think Groves narrowly beats Froch by decision, Froch then hammers Degale and the saga continues.

I wouldn't mind either. Just to hear what kind of excuse he'll come up with if he loses

I have never rated DeGay personally , he is not world class.

I think Groves could KO Froch let alone outbox him and have said so. That was before he threw a wobbly and left Booth though. Now I am in two minds.

Yeah that has me a little worried. Any idea why they split?

DeGale is awful because he lost against Groves? You don't watch DeGale? You surely can't watch Groves either? ;)

Not first mate. I made a sig bet with @
Tam Seddon the day the fight was announced.
And mark my words the cobra is going to beat Groves inside the distance, Froch is still hungry and an inexperienced Groves is not ready for the challenge. Inexperience at then world level is what I am talking about here and Groves I'm afraid hasn't got that yet. He should have gone down the Stieglitz route because going down the cobra route is the wrong way for Groves to win a belt.

And what's your evidence of that? Froch is still peaking trust me, he's looking better in the ring each time out recently and he keeps a log of his performances in training and each training camp he's improving on all of his times. He's a sharp as ever and proved that against Bute and Kessler. Ward is the one who's on the radar for Froch, not a mandatory challenger of his IBF belt. Even Hearn didn't want this fight because he knows it's danger for Groves deep down.
As I said before Groves should of gone for Stieglitz first and gained more experience against a higher ranked contender and got the WBO belt and he would have earned even more for a WBA/IBF\WBO unification fight and then Froch could have fought Ward for the ring mag belt too. Wish Ward still had that WBC belt and it would have been for every belt at 168.

Let's not get carried away now. I think he stops Groves. Cuz he's just a better fighter. But he's been peaked. Some time ago. I wouldn't call him a declined fighter yet but the slide is coming
