Ray leonards book - abuse.
Obviously any type of abuse is not right but what is everyones thoughts on ray leanard talking about the sexual abuse he suffered at 22 years old by a former coach?
When i first heard about it the first thing i thought was that he would have been a child but he was a grown man.
Was he right to not name the coach or should he name and shame him?!

Should have named him, because the guy may be doing it today. But 22 years of age doesn't sound like abuse, it sounds like rape.
What did the book explain about the abuse? Was it full on penetration, fondling or just inappropriate touches and flashes, etc, etc...?
-
The sexual abuse allegations began when he went to a boxing event in Utica, New York, in 1971 aged 15 with another teenager and an unidentified ‘prominent Olympic boxing coach’.
The coach got them to take a bath while he sat on the other side of the bathroom - and they thought it was ‘inappropriate’ but not want to question him, he wrote.
Then several years later Leonard said he was sitting in a car in an empty car park and listened as the same coach explained the importance of an Olympic gold medal.
But then Leonard writes what followed: ‘Before I knew it, he had unzipped my pants and put his hand, then mouth, on an area that has haunted me for life.
‘I didn’t scream. I didn’t look at him. I just opened the door and ran.’

Re: Ray leonards book - abuse.
I think the guy who offended is dead, so what's the point? All he'd be doing at this point would be to shame the guy's family. What does that achieve?
It's sickening and it's typical of most sexual abuse. Someone in a position of power takign advantage: I think in this case, Ray was worried this guy would hold him down and keep him out of the Olympics.
It really is sickening. These sexual predators fuck up people's lives for a few moments of personal gratification.

Re: Ray leonards book - abuse.
Coach has hand on Leonard's lap. Leonard does nothing
Coach starts unzipping Leonard's pants. Leonard just watches him do it
Coach goes inside Leonard's pants and takes Leonard dick out. Leonard not complaining
Coach starts sucking Leonard's dick. Leonard supposedly jumps out the car and starts running
The fact that Leonard didn't beat the fuck out of the coach as soon as his hand touched his thigh says it all. Leonard is a fucking fag

Re: Ray leonards book - abuse.
We had a local f*<k-up named Murray here, skinny frenchman in his late 50s, was suckin' off guys when they'd pass out after drinking too much.
One dude, Kevin, a guy in his 30s, was telling the story.
"I was drinkin', I passed out, when I woke up, Murray was blowing me."
"Holay! What'd ya do?"
(pauses)
"Weelll, I let him finish me off. Then I kicked him !!"
-
Re: Ray leonards book - abuse.
He couldn't have been 22? (I haven't read the book) In the second incident he says they were in the car discussing the 76 Olympics, so the oldest he could have been is 19.
I'm not sure a 19-year-old getting groped is "child abuse," but it could obviously have a terrible impact on someones life especially coming from someone you respect as an authority figure. To call him gay is just ridiculously childish.

Re: Ray leonards book - abuse.
Leonard should have come out years ago and possibly stopped this Jimmy Saville abusing other young men.

True. Leonard could have said "no" and quickly left when the touching and unzipping began.

I have to agree with VD on this occasion.
Put yourself in that situation at 19-22 years old.
If your straight (let alone a boxer) would you let another man take those foreplay steps in the first place?
Perhaps he was scared and confused but just think how many other teenagers he would have abused because he was not exposed at that stage.
Perhaps leonard was a bit curious and disgusted at the same time and ran away from it at the time.
Now he has his millions and is safe its a good time to clear his chest with it.

Re: Ray leonards book - abuse.
not read it but from what you're saying this is someone he knew for some years growing up as a teenager. The person in question would have been an authority figure, someone he would have trusted. I don't think you people realise how abuse and grooming works

Don't justify Leonard's fag behavior

Re: Ray leonards book - abuse.
I feel terrible for anyone that was sexually abused but in this case I think Ray was curious and now regrets his bi-curious ways.

That was no abuse. If anything it sounds like non payment of services provided

Re: Ray leonards book - abuse.
An adult man allowed himself to be abused like that? An adult man who could clearly protect himself and did nothing to resist? I find that a little bit questionable. Would you punch him or just let him have his wicked way? Most would argue the former.

Show me sometime if you like;) Yours is the figure I'd respect most out of all our mods, and I'm well groomed.

I don't know, I hear Andre is pretty hot as well.

Re: Ray leonards book - abuse.
Leonard is the victim in this and should not be blamed for the indecent assault. The abuser used his position of trust and he should be the one targeted. It is easy to say what you would do now but in that situation you may not know what to do or react.
-
Re: Ray leonards book - abuse.
I get the jokes and crass humor but people always claim what they would do in a situation and truth be told no one can honestly say how they would react if their coach, somewho who they trust and someone who's been with them for such a long time, would suddenly do this.
Who would have believed him if he suddenly went out and said it? He would have been ostracized, people would have called him a queer who's jealous that the coach didn't reciprocate his feelings. After all the coach was a well respected trainer and he was just a young 20 something year old kid.
-
We will never know the truth.
Unfortunately the abuser has escaped with this act.

Normally I'd agree with you, but a 22 year old should have things figured out.
The thing is, I really don't care one way or the other, everyone is welcome to be as gay as they want, it's just curious the way he tells it.

I can't say I would have kicked his ass but I wouldn't let my cock remain in his mouth. I probably would have said no thank you and not call or send flowers

Re: Ray leonards book - abuse.
I don't think anybody would deny that it is abuse, but most would resist in some way and certainly as a 22 year old man. 22 isn't 12, you are a man of the world at that age and a boxer too. If someone went near my flies, then they would have an immediate knee in the face. Now wouldn't that be the reaction of most? Would you just sit there, get a hard on, and allow someone to suck you off? It sounds weird because it is weird.

Exactly.
Leonard wasnt under 16.
He was a man. He might still be fighting his true feelings to this day.

Re: Ray leonards book - abuse.
Personally, I find it childish
SRL was a notorious bad father to his own children, he abused them in a certain sense because of his selfishness and ego. Personally, I believe, this is where he should have acted like a man, not by sharing his child abuse experience

Re: Ray leonards book - abuse.
If he felt it was inappropriate, let him speak on it. No man would just jump up and say that- especially when no one asked him about it before. He volunteered the information to the public. Let's let this speak for itself, without judging him and without casting the blame on him,

Re: Ray leonards book - abuse.
I think it's bullshit. He either made up this story or exaggerated some event to sell the book...

Perhaps its easier for him this way.
Rather than saying he had a gay moment, its easier to call it abuse or that he ran away from a bullying situation.
Cant knock what leonard achieved in the ring, but i doubt thats the only ring he played with.
