Prime Vitali went toe-to-toe with OLD Lennox and got his a@$# kicked
he woulda been KTFO after another 2 rounds, he was fading fast, Lennox was starting to find the mark with big shots and Vitali woulda been KTF OUT by the 8th/9th round tops.
There's proof of my point that the only reason the 2 klits are any "good" is that they are 6 ft 7 inches, have long ass orangutan arms in addition to their height, or shall we say in combination with their height. and backpeddle across the ring and run like sissies the minute anyone gets close.
They cannot go toe to toe with anybody their own size. Wussy trash. You give some guys a few more inches and same length arms and the klitschkos wouldnt even be in the Top 100.
-
Maybe Vitali would of got knocked out. Nobody can really say. But from what I remembered Lewis looked really gassed. The chance of Lewis getting stopped was possible

Lennox Lewis had "old power" that night, meaning he came in cold, took a good many licks and lumps, but he knew to roll with the punches, never really got fucked. Then Vitali was gassed, and Lewis started getting his rhythm, although slow and plodding, he was able to start out-slicking Vitali in the last 2 rounds or so, and was really starting to find the range with the uppercut. Lewis' uppercut was enormous. I think Vit would have puttered out in another 6 or 7 minutes, he was totally knackered, moreso than Lennox. Then the old memory and power of all those long-ass fights would come naturally to Lennox and he woulda went to the well, dug deep and annihilated Vit like all great champions always find a way.
Finalyy Vit Klit fights someone almost his own size and gets shellacked. He's lucky they stopped the fight---his face woulda got torn the fuck off like a page out of a 1932 phone book.

Re: Prime Vitali went toe-to-toe with OLD Lennox and got his a@$# kicked
Lets be fair here Brock. Vitali had 2 points on Lewis according to the cards although Lewis did seem to be getting a second wind. If not for that cut big enough to park a car in anything could have happened.
But that's boxing.

Lennox was so glad to get out of that fight with a win that he didn't play chess for a month.

Re: Prime Vitali went toe-to-toe with OLD Lennox and got his a@$# kicked
"toe to toe isnt their style"???? what the fuck does that mean? every boxer even the running dancing Cassius Clay had to sit down on his punches and throw some haymakers, even in the 1964 Liston fight after ballerina for a few rounds Cassius stood flat-footed and threw some serious leather nearly sparking Liston. Every fighter has to fight toe to toe at some point. He cant just backpeddle like a clown all his career like the Klitsch-woes. Toe to toe means exchanging punches. They are chicken-shits and cannot do it for fear of taking shots. They arent willing to be complete boxers. Just backpeddling, gangling octopuses, using their height and reach and keeping their fucking noses above the clouds where nobody can possibly reach. Pieces of shit, both of them, and boxing will be much better without charlatains like them.
I guess you thinkk if we went to the NBA and recruited some 7 foot 5 basketball stars and put gloves on them, taught them to hold like an octopus and lean on their opponents backs and grab and run like Ussein Bolt, I guess they would then be in your alltime great boxers list Lyle. Tosser.

really, idiot boy? So why did Vitali go toe to toe with Lennox and get his face ripped off, wanker? Wasnt that fight toe to toe, tosser? What you really mean is that Vitali TRIED to go toe to toe and got his face ripped off and his ass handed to him by a 38 year old fat pudgy Lewis. Stop writing nonsensical contrary idiocies thinly-masked.

Winning on the cards (all of them), never hit the canvas, tired out poor old Lennox and was ready to continue. Doesn't seem like an ass kicking to me.
Also people give Lennox sooo much credit for taking the fight short notice yet Vitali was scheduled to fight Cedric fucking Boswell and he pushed Lennox to the brink, but hey if you want to act like it was an easy night for Lennox you go right on ahead.

iT WAS ABOUT AS EASY AS A 38 YEAR OLD OUT OF SHAPE could have it. Wouldnt you say. Thats the age poor ol Joe Walcott got sparked by the younger fighter. It aint an age to be on your game anymore usually. I give Lewis major credit for doing what he did and reversing the course of that fight that night. Even a 36 year old Lewis would have sparked that faggot anus-fucker vitali klit-cock in 3 rounds or less. But its OK Lyle you can act like a prime Lewis or a prime Foreman or a prime Holmes would lose to either one of the Clown Brothers if you need to.

OK, attempt to read this and absorb some logic here
#1 Lennox Lewis - 6'5 250-ish, and you have said NOTHING about his size and how he used it in the ring. The Klitschko's might be 1" or 2" taller but they are roughly the same height. So you're shitting on 2 guys because "They're tall and fight tall" and Lennox gets a pass. WHY?
#2 Vitali's current age is 42, Wladimir is 37, age isn't as much of an issue as you'd like to make it
Noboy is talking "prime vs prime" anything why even bring it up? Unless you feel your original argument is so fucking weak you need that crutch

Old sod? Lout? You're off your meds again aren't you?
Pianetta was undefeated
McCline had wins over Briggs, Grant, and Lance Whittaker in the early 2000's which you can look through your revisionist glasses at as "weak competition" but Jameel McCline was an unknown as was Wlad at the time and Wlad dominated him.
Again, your position was and I quote (again) "They cannot go toe to toe with anybody their own size"
...and I just gave a small sample of guys who were the same size or bigger than the brothers and guess what the record shows.......the record shows WINS.
But you can turn and twist and create all the new arguments you want and call names and what have you, but all that is doing is telling anyone paying attention that your original argument is too weak and that like a spoiled brat you have to make up the rules to this debate as you go because you're being inconsistent in your views and well that just makes you a hate filled troll now doesn't it?
-
Re: Prime Vitali went toe-to-toe with OLD Lennox and got his a@$# kicked
This is one vicious argument.
One thing I'd like to throw in though, if you put in the Wlad he fought this year in a pathetic cheating performance, against the Lennox Lewis who fought Vitali (more or less the same age) I think I know the winner and it aint Wladamir !

Re: Prime Vitali went toe-to-toe with OLD Lennox and got his a@$# kicked
klitoris was at the end of his stamina and Lewis the Lummox was just getting into it. 2nd Wind City, whereas the klits have no 2nd wind. Ever. Lennox would have knocked klitoris into Press Row by the 9th round at most with one of those monster uppercuts. Too bad they stopped it. Really too bad.
Even a 38 year old whipped a prime klitoris. What does that tell ya @El Kabong you whack job.

Re: Prime Vitali went toe-to-toe with OLD Lennox and got his a@$# kicked
*Lennox never fought again... that should tell u who won.
*the cut on Vitali's eye came from a thumb... the fight should've been a no contest,at best.
*Lennox held and hit Vitali like 8 times in a row in round 5... ridiculous what they let Lennox get away with.
*Vitali is this active, beating everyone and anyone in sight.. Lennox, who knows where he is.

Re: Prime Vitali went toe-to-toe with OLD Lennox and got his a@$# kicked
The real issue in this fight was that they sucked; there was zero in the way of boxing skill. Yeah, I know short notice...That doesn't matter if you know how to fight and are a professional. What does it take to prepare for an opponent? THE FIRST ROUND, for a true pro; these guys were and are glorified amateurs.
To be so tired after a couple rounds, like Lewis? A PRO can get in and do 10 because he is a boxing professional. Vitali was eating those flush uppercuts again and again- a 'pro' would turn his shoulder and quit leaning in- and a few more would have finished him.
The night of the fight, I turned to my friend (he had sparred with Emile Griffith and spent considerable time around Liston) and said "Joe Louis is turning in his grave." It was a shameful night; like Arcel said, get two guys that cannot box and it'll be one hell of a fight.

Re: Prime Vitali went toe-to-toe with OLD Lennox and got his a@$# kicked
That was a helluva good fight, you can pile If's and maybes on anything but those two let it hang out in a way at THE top level we have grown to miss greatly.

Yeah, people just aren't content to appreciate a great scrap I guess. It's a shame. GREAT fight, gutsy performance on both parts.

Re: Prime Vitali went toe-to-toe with OLD Lennox and got his a@$# kicked
I think that age has to do a huge invisible part, do you think that more than 5% of the baseball players hit 50 homeruns at age 38 years old and bat 324? no!, they probably avg 252 and hit like 15 if they are extremely good (and they don't even get punched in the face for decades)
in the current age of advanced nutrition and training that has produced so many old good boxers, but anyways, not everybody possess all the longevity that others do
now for practically all but not all boxers, it affects a lot more that what people see, in not
just 1 aspect like timing but a lot more ones, as many boxers are similar to many others in level, the difference is so little that if there is a little bad training or slipup or whatever and you lose the match
And about the match between lewis and klitschko, it was very even but I think that Klitschko would have won, although maybe not in their primes, both are very good boxers for my tastes of not being addicted to 50 raw hard punches with no defence per round with shoes cemented to the floor
-
Re: Prime Vitali went toe-to-toe with OLD Lennox and got his a@$# kicked
Old?
Lennox Lewis was age 37 when he fought Vitali. That the same age Wladimir Klitschko is now.
-
This was a great fight yet it still seemingly pissed off half the people by being non technical and what not, we are a fickle bunch.
-

If Wlad fought with half the intensity in which Kabong posts about him, nobody would ever believe he wasn't bursting with A side meth and he would've had Povetkin out of there in a round. Fact.

Re: Prime Vitali went toe-to-toe with OLD Lennox and got his a@$# kicked
Look Lewis was 38 but was far from shot also he is like in the top ten greats heavy's on the top half of the list i would say. Why is it a shame to lose by a cut to that man of all people he is a atg and as far as the Brown Bomber goes turning in his grave i just laugh. Bomber during his prime years i remember him not being able to avoid a right hand by a old vet him self only he got a rematch. If he got in the ring with Lewis he would get squashed and i wonder if people would still call him great after. I don't get all hate from you Brock your idol beat bums and shot fighters his whole career and you idolize the man and Rock was great guy on all but lets be real here. Vatli getting knocked out the man has never even seen the canvas in how many fights now and you think he going to get kncoked out i mean come dude.

It was possibly the last of the great heavyweight fights and the passing of the crown.
Any fighter could have won further along in the fight but the fight had to be stopped because lennox fists were causing too much damage to vitali face.
Lennox should have retired after that and he did.
The brothers are great champions but will never ever be ahead of lewis in any way shape or form.

Agreed, peak for peak I cannot see Vitali topping Lewis. Lewis had the gears.

Vitali didn't fight a PRIME Lewis, Lewis didn't fight a Vitali prepared for Lewis and vice versa.
Questions would have been answered IF there was a rematch...but there wasn't so just enjoy what happened and leave it at that

What happened was an out of prime lewis beat a prime vitali and stopped him.
That is what the history books will say and to this day that is still the best fight that vitali had and he lost it.
Just shows how good lennox was and vitali still is.

Re: Prime Vitali went toe-to-toe with OLD Lennox and got his a@$# kicked
Sorry I cant buy the Lennox was not in his prime. I used to argue that also but it is simply not the case. I'm a fan of Lennox and I've noticed that other fans seem to pick and choose which fights signify his prime. Almost seems to rest on whether he struggled or not. The fight was on short notice but that was still a pretty close to prime Lewis. Just because he was a little lazy and was thinking about retirement does not mean he was not still in his prime. I just don't see "prime" as being that finite with respect to this fight. Was he the best he has ever been? Was Vitali? His issues were always based on motivation. He probably picked up that trait in Canada, the procrastination capital of the planet. Personally, I don't have the time to procrastinate.

Im not going to go back and forth with you as you will always see it your way.
At least i can call mayweather a hypocrite for the catchweight issue and not be completely one sided.
Lets say this. How did the cut happen? Did a spectator throw a bottle in the ring and it caught vitali in various places.? (Look at the pic of his eye, cheekbone and lips!!! No one has done that to vitali before or since!!)
Vitalis greatest and best fight was against lennox. He lost because his punch resistance wasnt as strong as lewis thats why his face was opened up.
You cant change history and you cant change the fact that lewis power punchers were more devasting to vitalis face!
Hey, lewis looked tired. He looked in trouble at some stages. But so did vitali.
You mentioned in a previous post that it was a great fight and i agree but one fighter hit alot harder than the other even though he had grey hairs in his cornrolls!
Lewis stopped vitali and retired.
There are no ifs or buts.

Im not looking to clash with you but surely you would agree lewis at this stage of the vitali fight was not the same stage as vitali in his career.
That was lewis last fight and no one knows when a fighters pure prime is but im sure it he was a better fighter 4-5 years ago.

Just two nasty cuts!
The truth is Vitali was in his physical but not experience prime and lewis was in his experience but not physical prime - very close fight and could of gone either way - I would have thought vitali may of taken it if I had to pick - big 1sr 2nd & 5th rounds for him and 6th about even
