Lennox Lewis had "old power" that night, meaning he came in cold, took a good many licks and lumps, but he knew to roll with the punches, never really got fucked. Then Vitali was gassed, and Lewis started getting his rhythm, although slow and plodding, he was able to start out-slicking Vitali in the last 2 rounds or so, and was really starting to find the range with the uppercut. Lewis' uppercut was enormous. I think Vit would have puttered out in another 6 or 7 minutes, he was totally knackered, moreso than Lennox. Then the old memory and power of all those long-ass fights would come naturally to Lennox and he woulda went to the well, dug deep and annihilated Vit like all great champions always find a way.
Finalyy Vit Klit fights someone almost his own size and gets shellacked. He's lucky they stopped the fight---his face woulda got torn the fuck off like a page out of a 1932 phone book.
Lets be fair here Brock. Vitali had 2 points on Lewis according to the cards although Lewis did seem to be getting a second wind. If not for that cut big enough to park a car in anything could have happened.
But that's boxing.
Go eat some more paint chips you fat mook.
"They cannot go toe to toe with anybody their own size"
#1 Toe-to-toe isn't their style idiot
#2
Tony Thompson - 6'6 250+
Mariusz Wach - 6'7 250
Shannon Briggs 6'4 260
Jameel McCline 6'6 250
Francisco Pianetta 6'5 240+
"toe to toe isnt their style"? what the fuck does that mean? every boxer even the running dancing Cassius Clay had to sit down on his punches and throw some haymakers, even in the 1964 Liston fight after ballerina for a few rounds Cassius stood flat-footed and threw some serious leather nearly sparking Liston. Every fighter has to fight toe to toe at some point. He cant just backpeddle like a clown all his career like the Klitsch-woes. Toe to toe means exchanging punches. They are chicken-shits and cannot do it for fear of taking shots. They arent willing to be complete boxers. Just backpeddling, gangling octopuses, using their height and reach and keeping their fucking noses above the clouds where nobody can possibly reach. Pieces of shit, both of them, and boxing will be much better without charlatains like them.
I guess you thinkk if we went to the NBA and recruited some 7 foot 5 basketball stars and put gloves on them, taught them to hold like an octopus and lean on their opponents backs and grab and run like Ussein Bolt, I guess they would then be in your alltime great boxers list Lyle. Tosser.![]()
Old sod? Lout? You're off your meds again aren't you?
Pianetta was undefeated
McCline had wins over Briggs, Grant, and Lance Whittaker in the early 2000's which you can look through your revisionist glasses at as "weak competition" but Jameel McCline was an unknown as was Wlad at the time and Wlad dominated him.
Again, your position was and I quote (again) "They cannot go toe to toe with anybody their own size"
...and I just gave a small sample of guys who were the same size or bigger than the brothers and guess what the record shows.......the record shows WINS.
But you can turn and twist and create all the new arguments you want and call names and what have you, but all that is doing is telling anyone paying attention that your original argument is too weak and that like a spoiled brat you have to make up the rules to this debate as you go because you're being inconsistent in your views and well that just makes you a hate filled troll now doesn't it?
This is one vicious argument.
One thing I'd like to throw in though, if you put in the Wlad he fought this year in a pathetic cheating performance, against the Lennox Lewis who fought Vitali (more or less the same age) I think I know the winner and it aint Wladamir !
Lewis was going to smash Vitali to bits.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
*Lennox never fought again... that should tell u who won.
*the cut on Vitali's eye came from a thumb... the fight should've been a no contest,at best.
*Lennox held and hit Vitali like 8 times in a row in round 5... ridiculous what they let Lennox get away with.
*Vitali is this active, beating everyone and anyone in sight.. Lennox, who knows where he is.
Lennox may not have sparked him clean out, but definitely it was looking like what it would have happened- a STOPPAGE, either by Vitali's corner due to those cuts OR Vitali wouldn't have answered the bell in the later rounds. Basically, quit on his stool.
The punishment he was taking after the cut- which he couldn't see the punches coming anymore, at all- was enough to show me that Lennox was the better man that night.
For a fat, out of shape Lennox to come in against a guy that was preparing for him for, at least, two years, and then for that guy to get a shot on a replacement situation, where Lennox barely had him on his radar, was proof to how a bad-ass mofo Lennox was and could be once his back was against the wall.
Shame Lennox needed two fights to dispatch Hasim Rahman. But, Rahman is a more stiffer puncher and finisher.
Bigger man George, bigger punch!

that was a great fight. i saw it live. lennox was coming on, and vitali was fading but u never know, vitali was still hanging in there despite that hideous cut. bottom line is vitali has waaaay more balls than pussy boy wladimir. no comparison.
my fave part was after the fight when merchant asked lewis if he still thought vitali was a bum?
Lewis got out of dodge in this fight, the cut saved his ass. He retired knowing full well that a return bout could be ugly...for him. He got lucky twice late in his career, the 2nd Holyfield fight was just as big an injustice against Holyfield as the draw was against Lewis. IMO Vitali stops him in a rematch. He was wise to retire.
really, idiot boy? So why did Vitali go toe to toe with Lennox and get his face ripped off, wanker? Wasnt that fight toe to toe, tosser? What you really mean is that Vitali TRIED to go toe to toe and got his face ripped off and his ass handed to him by a 38 year old fat pudgy Lewis. Stop writing nonsensical contrary idiocies thinly-masked.
