Shady title wins & losses..minus the judges?
I started thinking about this after an earlier thread. We all know trinkets are "easily" won today or at least provided but how often are they easily lost in BS calls, rulings or stripping of belts? Not involving the judges as the forum has no need for a 1,000 page thread ;D...or guys vacating or stripped for not facing 'mandatory' but DQ's...rob jobs (see below).. or out right blown calls on cuts, fouls, corruption..I think the deck was stacked on Johnson the day he signed the contract
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KAV84zGLf98
Starling v Molinares was a blown call...Duran v Buchanan arguably a golf shot to the nuts...Baldo beats Judah for trinket and Ibf ignored...John D Jackson stripped for 'not asking permission'
I'm not trying to legitimize trinkets here but we hear every weekend about judge robberies...how many have we seen where they don't even wait for the cards to take them ??? Just random rambling here

Tszyu-Hatton .. rob job in Manchester. It was a set up

Re: Shady title wins & losses..minus the judges?
Good thread, I'm sure if you go back far enough we could still make this 1,000 pages:D. First one that jumps to my mind was JC Chavez sr against Frankie Randall in the rematch, complete crock of shit. The ref actually rules the headbutt unintentional and then proceeds to take a point anyways, he probably somehow knew Chavez needed it on the cards or something. Not to mention it wasn't that bad a cut Chavez could have fought on, it was a clear fix imo.

Re: Shady title wins & losses..minus the judges?
it wasnt a title fight, but was a title eliminator. when rocky juarez fought zahir raheem. the ref kept deducting points from raheem for no reason and threw him off his gameplan. at the end of the fight, raheem still clearly won the fight but the decision was given to juarez.

Thought about that one but they went to cards, Ive always thought Chavez 'opted out' of that one and Randall was royally screwed over. It reminded me of Honeyghan- Vaca 1 as Lloyd was docked, though fortunate for him he got an immediate rematch. They stripped him for some BS non 15 round title fight politics? Still think Randall was on his way to stopping Chavez in there!

Re: Shady title wins & losses..minus the judges?
Chavez Taylor. The worst one ever.
-
Re: Shady title wins & losses..minus the judges?
Guess so, but the point deduction on a clearly accidental butt is what gave Chavez the fight on the cards, and the cutt was nothing major at all. I wonder if Chavez didn't know the deal somehow as well, he couldn't have felt confident he was winning. He was the last guy you'd accuse of being a quitter, but the shoe fits perfectly in that one. Randall had his number, there's a reason they didn't have an instant rubber match to I suspect.

Re: Shady title wins & losses..minus the judges?
Tyson was taking a severe beating against Douglas every round including where he knocked down Buster. Had he seen the final bell he would have got the shady decision.
I also think Hopkins was carrying Oscar because he wanted a rematch to make even more money.

Re: Shady title wins & losses..minus the judges?
Alexander vs. Bradley comes to mind. Fight shouldn't have been stopped. If there is one fighter I am praying gets beaten for about 9-9 rounds and then gets brutally stopped is Tim Bradley. Too many gift decisions and shady wins.

Re: Shady title wins & losses..minus the judges?
Roberto Duran vs Ken Buchanan
Don't get me wrong Roberto Duran is P4P one of the greatest fighters of all time, but he won that title by stoppage due to one hell of a low blow. He was going to win on the cards but still it kind of tarnishes the win.

Re: Shady title wins & losses..minus the judges?
Not a title match but I haven't posted in years so I had to find a first post back haha!
Cintron VS Martinez The ref counted out Cintron on a knock down, clearly by a punch. Cintron cryed it was a headbutt. Nah he got his clock cleaned
-
Re: Shady title wins & losses..minus the judges?
Oh yeah that was a disgrace! And then the cards were fixed to boot, Martinez got dicked around from all angles in that one good call.

The first Miranda/Abraham fight pissed me off for quite some time. Neumann acted like Abrahams wet nurse.

Re: Shady title wins & losses..minus the judges?
I remember reading about that John michael johnson fight- you couldn't watch 'em on youtube back then. had no idea it was that blatant.
The second Chavez/Randall fight...keep in mind that I had been saying since before randall was stopped by Primo Ramos and went to prison that he was the guy that might beat Chavez...That was a close fight and Chavez was boxing him. the rule is was and always had been that, if an unintentional butt causes a cut, the fighter that caused the butt loses a point. That was a bad cut and the fight was stopped. If the ref or, especially, the doctor, had ruled that the fight was ok to go on, and Chavez declined, it would have been a tko.
The shadiest thing about that fight was the kid that sang "The Star Spangled banner" yelling 'viva Mexico.'

'...it was my impression that Chavez did not want to continue with that gash, when I looked at him, asked him, he shook his head twice to me...the cut was bad enough to stop, but if he felt he could have continued, I probally would have let him...' it was a few days later and probally after King camped out on his doorstep for 3 nights, and the uproar got louder...Homansky sounded more certain. The rule was clear yeh and it was a gnarly cut but the irony was Chavez was a billygoat in 7 and 8. He was being out fought and looked fatigued and then Christmas came. Flip even told Mills to "let it go at least to the end of the round"...now thats a Dr. talking! Chavez body language said it all. The corner never allowed, or interested, in working on it. It just stank brother. Then King tucks Randall on undercards and they come out with some BS about him needing to beat -Whitaker- before a Chavez rematch ??? Only in boxing and Jose Sullied'mans world :p

How about the Robin Reid fight? At one point the ref almost disqualified Reid for fighting.

Double standards , that's the same Reid who in many peoples opinions beat the unbeaten Calzaghe.

Kirkland over Molina for a recent one, wasn't a title fight but still bogus

Great call, once the ref had a ringside consultation you knew Molina was about to get the shaft. Glad he finally got that 'trinket' though. Opportunity well earned.

That is not double standards. Reid lost a close decision to Joe. Actually his loss to Lacy was rough.

Bullshit. If people were to really actually pay attention to the fight themselves instead of going by what other people say they'll see the ref is warning Reid about thumbing. Not about hitting him in the face. I mean come on. I can't believe so many people still actually think the ref warned Reid about hitting Ottke in the face. That's just dumb. Reid lost that fight cuz he let the ref take him out his game

The Soto vs Lorenzo DQ?
Was for an interim trinket but Sulaiman's boys decided not to agree with the decision. Shady?

Reid did not protest because he knew there was no point.
