Degale sucks dude..
De Gale will be world champion when he beat Bika.
Froch and Groves will be scared.
I am Iron Man.
Yes he is pretty ordinary , slaps a lot also.
His punches are not crisp enough, just yet... and he has to work on his aggression a bit more. But it was a VAST improvement from when I saw him last. He is making slow, but steady progress.
He will be a world champ... I sincerely hopes he employs a Nazim Richardson or Freddie Roach so they can really fix some of these "issues" with his professional style.
His camp should take my silly advice...
Bit harsh guys.
He deserves a world title shot and i agree he needs a change of trainer.
Its starting to get very interesting and now degale is fully fit he has no excuses.
Yea I think its harsh too. He was unlucky not to get the win over Groves. If he had hed be further along. Unfortunately defeats set you back in boxing. Bika is a winnable fight for him and once he has a title bigger fights will come. He looked very slick in parts of that fight and in fairness his opponent was tougher then most thought he would be.
In all fairness there is still not a lot between Groves and Degale
Groves is miles ahead of Degale. When they fought, I actually had Degale sneaking it, but since then Groves has improved dramatically with every fight, while Degale has stood still if not gone backwards. He's talked about bad knees, groin, all sorts of excuses. Until last night , I've never seen Degale fight more than a minute a round. Last night was a bit better, but he got tagged a helluva lot against a guy who although decent and game, was not World level. If they rematched tomorrow , Groves would probably stop Degale in 6-8 rounds.
Yeah i watched it before the Burns fight and I was less than impressed. Degale still slaps, still gets lazy and loses concentration, still stops and admires his own work rather than going for the finish and he still gets hit way too much. His defence is seriously shit and to me he isn't improving much at all. He needs to change trainer and promoter. As he does with all his fighters Hennessy has him fighting nobodies in complete obscurity. How can a highly rated Olympic Gold medal winner be fighting for buttons on small hall shows? Because Hennessy couldn't market shit to flies. For fucks sake George Groves doesnt even have a promoter and he has fashioned his own opportunities. Degale needs to be tested and fighting some fucking unknown Armenian while Groves is fighting for World titles on PPV is just embarassing.
Utter BS... Glen Johnson is a shell of a man. A shell of a man. Before their fight, no one in HELL knew who Groves was- and still no one knew who he really was UNTIL he started to call out Froch. He made a name for himself, no doubt- but DeGale's last three oppoonets could have beaten Johnson too. And, styles make fights- Groves did in Smith quicker. No biggie.
Every pro fight Groves has had has been televised in the UK. As amazing as it may seem, you don't need American approval to become a successful boxer.
Johnson was a year removed from fighting Froch to a close decision and fighting Lucian Bute and yet he was just Groves 16th pro fight. Also to say nobody knew who Groves was is utter BS. Over here in the UK Groves fought on numerous David Haye undercards meaning every fight he has was televised. Also, as soon as Degale left Warren and signed for Hennessy he started to fight in small hall shows on Channel 5 dragging in average viewing figures and a poor gate as oppose to Groves who was fighting on Sky in front of larger audiences and dragging in higher viewing figures. As a result, many people in this country knew who George Groves was.
We have many mediocre fighters like Degale in america.. like Badou Jack, yusaf mack etc...
I thought DeGale looked alright to be honest. The guy he was in with was a bit of an odd ball and hard as nails to boot. DeGale looked strong later on in the fight which was good to see. If he's been as injury prone as he says over the past few years and he's now fit you cant blame him for having a bit of fun in there and taking risks. Bika will be a big ask for him but he's not going to be as sloppy as that when it really counts.
I actually warmed to him a bit. He spoke well and sounded quite humble pre fight.
I agree with most of what you said. Groves has improved a lot, but the main thinking behind that is his performance against Froch. While he looked beating Smith, Sierra, Johnson, Barakat and Alcoba I dont think any of them would cause degale any trouble either.
DeGale has been injured but he has also had more fights since the loss to Groves then Groves has and while he hasnt been fighting great fighters the likes of Wilczewski and Davis are just as good as the guys Groves has been fighting (bar Froch). If they were fighting soon Groves would rightly be favorite but there is not a huge difference in them. I think Id back Degale at 2/1 or bigger which would mean hed have a good chance.
