It seems Ike Ibeabuchi has been released from prison...
...after 15 years incarceration.
Plenty of rumors. I typed "Ibeabuchi" in Nevada State Inmate Search, and his full first name "Ikemefula" pops up, but says his file is currently inactive.

If this deranged lunatic is currently free, isn't he supposed to be deported?
Very dangerous person to be walking the streets.
It's just a matter of time.
-
I also read he was released.
I heard he's being lined up as Wilder's next opponent ;)

His crazy ass will be back in prison in no time. You heard it here first.
-
Re: It seems Ike Ibeabuchi has been released from prison...
He must be pretty old by now though ey??
15 years out the game, plus age plus he's gotten fat judging from some jail images I seen of him.
I don't think he'll be a serious factor anymore even if he does make a comeback.
Which is a shame because he was top contender/champion material back in the day, who knows how far he could have gotten if not for his unfortunate psyche. But hey there are worse guys out there than Ibeabuchi. I think they should have parolled him earlier personally.
-
Should have paroled him earlier? Is this a joke? The man is a psychopath. He was and always will be a threat. He should be closely monitored the rest of his days.
-
Re: It seems Ike Ibeabuchi has been released from prison...
Ike needs to be in a mental asylum.
-
Re: It seems Ike Ibeabuchi has been released from prison...
He's probably back in Nigeria now. From what I heard long ago, the plan was to immediately deport him upon his release.
-
Re: It seems Ike Ibeabuchi has been released from prison...
I have to laugh when people talk about him coming back and fighting after 15 years in the slammer.
He was a top, highly touted PROSPECT in his prime - that's it. He was never a world champ. He can go join Tony Ayala in the "Promising but too much of a scumbag even for boxing" file in boxing's history.

Amazingly, he is only 2 years older than Wladimir, so expect to see him on the comeback trail.

While incarcerated, Ibeabuchi reformed, and in an astounding turnaround, earned two college degrees from Western Nevada Community College: an Associate of General Studies and an Associate of Applied Science in General Business. Ibeabuchi was released from prison by the Nevada Board of Corrections after serving his sentence in February 2014.

Re: It seems Ike Ibeabuchi has been released from prison...
His biggest fight left him a basket case and with damage. Any promoter who rushes him to tv should have his own head checked out.

Re: It seems Ike Ibeabuchi has been released from prison...
Amir Mansour is a full year older than he is.... all he needs is 6 months training, a tune up fight against a halfway decent garbage collector, and he is right back in the thick of things.

Re: It seems Ike Ibeabuchi has been released from prison...
One can only hope for him to make something happen in this shitty hw division but the time has passed I'm afraid.
I think some of u guys are too harsh on him. Ibeabuchi did his time and he has mental issues. Its a disease.
U dudes be defending the gays, talking about how they are ''born '' that way so why ya blaming ibeabuchi when he could have been born with mental shortcomings. Maybe his mom was a crack whore. Who knows.
So he raped some chick. Wasn't she a prostitute ? If ur gonna whore yourself out for money, dangerous situations come with the territory.
He did his time though.

Whatever he did, I wasn't there to witness it so details are not important.
Only thing that matters is he did 15 years and now he's free. 15 years man 15 years. That's no joke. Have u done 15 years?
I've done a year and a half in the pen and it seemed like an eternity.
Ike did 15 years and he's off now on a clean slate.
I agree Brockton, ike would still beat adabum's ass and probably arreola too cuz they all suck.
-
He will bring Satan voices into the ring

No he couldn't. Back then maybe, now there's no way.
Why are Arreola and Adamek scum? What is your problem with them?? They are both tough fighters and good boxers and pretty good blokes too.
Both fought a much tougher level of competition than Ibeabuchi who really only faced Byrd and Tua, not his fault he got locked up before he could continue his career but still, they are not scum, they seem like pretty good blokes compared to Ike.

Hang on just a minute. You are calling Ike a deranged lunatic obviously you do not know the story.
All Ike was originally charged with was the supposed rape of a Vegas hooker. It was purely her word against his. They had no proof whatsoever The hooker wasnt hurt neither were the police who supposedly had to restrain him. If Ike didnt want to be arrested someone would have been. Ike was kept in jail heavily sedated almost like a zombie for FOURTEEN MONTHS while they badgered him to plead guilty & promised him he'd be back boxing in 6 months with time served. Ike eventually capitulated & agreed to plead no contest. Thats when they railroaded him the Female judge giving him the maximum sentence 5-30 years
I knew Ike from the day he came to gym in Dallas telling everyone he was the future champion of the world. Sure Ike was no angel but he was no monster either.
Just think a minute. If you were kept heavily sedated for 14 months because they were scared what you MIGHT do, then get railroaded wouldnt you be having a few mental problems. The majority of Ike's problems were caused by the treatment he recieved & the injustice.
While incarcerated Ike has earned TWO college degrees for which he should be commended. I wish Ike all the best for the future & hope to meet up with him again one day. Ike really was the uncrowned World Heavyweight champ

You obviously have no idea what you are talking about. Ike was ACCUSED of ATTEMPTING to rape a hooker. There was no proof he ever even touched her. How many times has Mayweather beaten up women I dont see you calling for him to be closely monitored. Biggest joke here seems to be you accusers

Re: It seems Ike Ibeabuchi has been released from prison...
Ike will get in shape he is a mad-ass nut-job, he will ass-rape Adamek and Arreola at the same time in the corner on the stool with the vaseline. Whilst ramming his Nigerian Lightning Rod home, he will recite Satanic verses into the microphone and Jim Gray will do an interview.
-
Re: It seems Ike Ibeabuchi has been released from prison...
Wow, what a great post made by CJ. And again I agree with Brockton. Funny how Ron swanson just got put in his place with facts lol.
Hey Ron, u need to gtfo with all that " educate yourself on the subject" bullshit cuz the only person who needs to get the facts straight is you. You make me laugh. Tryin to judge another man. Smh U believe everything the media puts out there pal? Why don't u ask Santa claus for a gift this december while you are at it.
To luck to Ike on his freedom.

Re: It seems Ike Ibeabuchi has been released from prison...
Ike ain't gonna do shit, ya'll know that. You know you do. This is just another ghost story of his being told with wide eyed imagination. Honestly if he is such a deeper, more educated man who came back from the brink of lifes pit, the last thing he should fall back on is the sport that maxed him out to looney toon rubber room status in the first place. We wonder why thus far some empty gloves like Wilder gets escorted into star status??? We're desperate ;D. Walk away and be thankful, adopt a dog and buy a goat..maybe even marry a gal who chooses to share your cab ride Ike and whatever you do, block Don Kings stalker like texts and calls :-X

You related to Finito? Maybe you think it was a conspiracy by organized crime to get the potential champion out of the way.
Are you starting to wonder if Don King had something to do with it? Wait a sec, was King his promoter? Ah, fuck it, let's throw it out there even if he was!
Maybe it was the FBI or the IRS or the YWCA?
Poor Ike, as soon as he touched down in the US, he was doomed.

Re: It seems Ike Ibeabuchi has been released from prison...
Can you imagine what he would get away with, if he's not reformed, in Nigeria? Murder and then some....
-
Everything I've read says there is no way to reform a sociopath. You just try to avoid their triggers. The world won't make that effort. He will hurt someone else badly.

Re: It seems Ike Ibeabuchi has been released from prison...
Nah, the man is crazy.
At his best in the late 90s, there was a scheduled fight where for a couple of weeks leading up to the fight, his cornermen didn't even know where he was or if he was even training.
Before that, HBO covered the kidnapping story, Lampley and Merchant talking about Ike kidnapping his former girlfriend's kid where he drove himself and the kid into a cement pillar. The kid suffered some permanent injuries, seizures. Ike went to jail for a short while, charged with kidnapping and attempted murder, the courts decided he was trying to commit suicide and let him off with 4 months, but he had to pay a half million in the lawsuit.
At the time between the 1997 Tua fight where he made his name and the 1999 Byrd fight, many prominent people in boxing publicly commented on this guy's bizarre behavior, and that he was not playing with a full deck. I think it was Kellerman stated that you only had to talk to Ike for about 5 minutes to know this guy was unstable.
Money talks though, and this guy was a fantastic talent, and there was definitely money to be made off him by all the sharks in Boxing.

Re: It seems Ike Ibeabuchi has been released from prison...
So Ike Ibeabuchi remains in custody. He was transferred, not released:
"...discharged from the Nevada Department of Corrections and transferred to Washoe County Jail on February 28 2014." "He was denied parole in 2004, 2007, 2009 and 2012." - boxingnewsonline
