Chavez-GGG deal getting close.. Jr is very confident
At the Forum! GGG should have asked for a CW but that's cool that he's willing to step up to 168 for this bout..
As long as this leads to a showdown with Ward..
Oh btw, LOL @ those who put so much stock into their sparring match.. it's sparring and it was obvious that chavez was working on something else besides offense..
Im not saying chavez is going to win but never underestimate size advantages.. JR has the size and the chin and he actually has a pulse and will punch back unlike the other guys that were involved in GGfakes' s bum tour..

Chavez isn't remotely good. All he is is big giving him a good chin. This fight is a disappointment. But you can't blame fighters for chasing the money.

i dont think so. ggg knows how to use angles well while chavez really only knows how to fight one way. ggg will fight smart and win it easily.

Re: Chavez-GGG deal getting close.. Jr is very confident
As most will agree Chavez does seem to have a good chin, although we are yet to see him hit by a genuine super middle but if this fight is made that wont make much difference anyway.
In Golovkins last fight he did look a bit stumped when his opponent came forward throwing. Chavez will be much stronger and much more aggressive.
Will be a good fight and I can see Chavez hurting Golovkin.

3G will certainly know that Chavez likes to come forward and will be ready.
Will be a good, I hope it happens! Chavez takes a lot of, well deserved, flack for his attitude toward training and boxing but he does like to fight.
Fight night, I look forward to it!

Re: Chavez-GGG deal getting close.. Jr is very confident
The only thing interesting about this fight is how GGG translates into super middleweight.

Re: Chavez-GGG deal getting close.. Jr is very confident
While both fighters have resumes that are a bit thin (yes Chavez fought Sergio....but he got his ass handed to him)...i will pick the more skilled and disciplined fighter. GGG has a great amateur career, is much more polished skill wise, and is not one to be prone to laziness. Chavez wants to drop a ton of weight only to pick on the smaller guy come fight night. Jnr's skill set is average at best and his discipline is a huge question mark. He looked good against a well past it B level fighter his last time out...so we are being lead to believe he has turned a new leaf  If he was fighting an average fighter...i would say his best attributes (chin, size) might be enough. But even though GGG has a lot to prove...he is by no means an average fighter. PLUS...people assume that only Chavez's chin will be targeted. What GGG does best is go to the body...and he will have no problem finding Jnr's rib cage consistently. Chavez jnr. can only carry his dad's name so far. I see GGG making a statement and winning big.

Hope GGG beats his ass. Baby Huey is BIG and TOUGH though.
He ll probably survive late into the fight.
-
Re: Chavez-GGG deal getting close.. Jr is very confident
The key will be Golovkin's power. If it moves up with him to Super Middleweight than he should win. Chavez is gonna come forward. So he needs to get Chavez's respect. If he doesn't than he loses. Golovkin isn't as effective fighting backwards.
-
Re: Chavez-GGG deal getting close.. Jr is very confident
Ggg isn't fighting a helper at a construction site or a corpse for a change so let's see wsup. Its still a semi cherrypick but its a tolerable one
And btw, yes chaves does have the better resume. Jr fought the main man in Martinez while ggfake fought part time hyenna handlers like adama.

Re: Chavez-GGG deal getting close.. Jr is very confident
Judging by the fighters, I think ref is going to play a big role in this one. Sergios speed and style neutralized much Chavez Jr's. bullish style and speed. GGG not being as fleet-footed and fighting a generally slower pace means he will be hard pressed to Chavez at bay, especially because the swarm is Jr's only chance to win. Stay close, take the leverage off Golovkin's shots and hammer away till he crumbles.
This fight may come down to how gritty Golovkin can get because this won't be a gentleman's match and GGG's team can only do so much to lobby to make sure their fighter gets a fair shake. From the judges to the ref, they may be forced to make concessions to keep the big money fight on.

Re: Chavez-GGG deal getting close.. Jr is very confident
Chavez looked great in his last fight but he was fighting Vera. If Chavez has his heart, weight and training in check it may be a good fight. Something tells me Chavez will buy weight for this fight and avoid the scale on fight night.
I think GGG win a tough, interesting fight. My biggest hope is we get to see Senior cry after his son gets beat. I would love to see him knock GGG down in the ninth with thirty seconds left and GGG gets up by the seven count. When he did that to Sergio I thought his father was going to have a coronary, it was fantastic. God I love boxing

Re: Chavez-GGG deal getting close.. Jr is very confident
Chavez impressed with the avoiding the centerline skills when jabbing in first few rounds in his fight with Vera. GGG cuts the ring nicely, so depending on the quality of Chavez legs, it might be an interesting chasing game.
I give the fight to GGG anyway, Chavez may have some chances to win on point if say GGG gets early bad cut or other trauma. There is no way Chavez can really hurt him. Golovkin is very schooled in keeping his chin low.
-
Re: Chavez-GGG deal getting close.. Jr is very confident
This is a fight Chavez Jr. can win... lololol....
His chin, size and the lack of GGG's punch output can cause there to be a little bit of a shocker in this one.
If GGG comes to throw between 60 to 70 punches a round, there is NO WAY Chavez can muster up the courage to come in and trade...
-
Re: Chavez-GGG deal getting close.. Jr is very confident
The only question this fight will answer is just how hard Chavez's head is. He's got size and strength but Golovkin has far more skills. Chavez will have his moments but I think it'll be too much of a one-sided battering to be in the running for FOTY.

Re: Chavez-GGG deal getting close.. Jr is very confident
Until Chavez signs I am not believing it will happen.

Chavez isn't the one holding it up. He agreed to the 1 million a pound over penalty and I believe has already signed. There waiting on Golovkin

I will believe it when GGG signs.

Re: Chavez-GGG deal getting close.. Jr is very confident
GGG will win which will leave him with a ton of options; Ward, Kovalev..Froch. The guys gonna be a star after this bout.
-
Re: Chavez-GGG deal getting close.. Jr is very confident
If Chavez loses the same thing will probably happen. He will get a tune up fight and then fight a name, unless he loses his tune up fight which is quite possible.

Re: Chavez-GGG deal getting close.. Jr is very confident
Big punchers move up and always struggle. They are generally people who can boil down in weight and have a strength advantage. McClellan, Abraham, Pavlik etc. All moved up all big punchers that had better names than Golovkin does on his record and their strength advantage wasnt what is was at middle.
If Golovkin was a novice or contender, after his last fight you would have things you would worry about when he faces genuine world class or was to move up a weight. Hes an established world champ and still looked basic. If the fight with Chavez goes ahead I think he will struggle big time. Especially at the super middle limit.

Ross the fact that you and Finito can rate someone as clueless as Fury and not see the obvious apparent quality in the work of Golovkin undermines both your arguments. It just comes across as hate or trying too hard to come across as some kind of guru as though everyone else is just jumping on a bandwagon. GGG has great ring IQ, watch his feet, look at his movement. The guy is patient, he wont be rushed, he goes go the body like someone on a chain gang breaking rocks. He has been avoided by all the other Middleweights and even though he is already small at that weight the guy is willing to move up and fight someone who will provably come in at light heavy come fight night. Styles make fights but the fact remains that Martinez did not snap Macklin like a twiglet.

Im not saying hes not a good middle weight. His advantages wont transfer up a weight. Even against Chavez jr;)
Just remember what a monster everyone thought Abraham was. He was one of the favourites in the super six. He's looked crap against every super middle he's fought. Its the strength difference. Its physics. Its not trying to be a guru its just a fact that those bigger fighters will be a lot stronger than him.

abraham was always terrible. im not sure why anybody thought that he was any good in the first place. ggg is way better than abraham ever was.

Greenbeans, not so fast dude, dont put words into my mouth.
I am fond of Tyson Fury, not because he's such a great fighter or anything but because of his self belief and persona .. he brings a light into this boring ass HW division..
And lets not act like he hasnt elevated his game for the past few years.. you look at him 4 years ago, and look at him today and he's a very different fighter.. he takes his craft seriously now and it shows.. can u name another 6"9 HW who moves and boxes the way tyson does? Give some credit dude..
Why are you comparing GGG to fury? Well for one, Fury has fought better competition and two, he actually makes effort to fight the best.. this man constantly belittles and calls out the best fighter of his division in klitchkso.. he was going to earn that shot by beating david haye but the nigga bitched out.. what more does he have to do.. isnt that enough?
GGG hasnt done shit compared to fury.. muthafucker is still fighting bums and shit.. yea that's why I like Fury more and the funny thing is, Ggg is supposed to be a champion, fury isnt..
-
You are simply tripping your nut off if you actually think any of that is true.

Re: Chavez-GGG deal getting close.. Jr is very confident
GGG by knock out, Too easy to hit..... Also, Chavez is a lazy gym rat and is slow. He is only what he is by living off his dad's name.
