Eddie Chambers explains why Wladimir Klitschko is an all-time great
Eddie Chambers explains why Wladimir Klitschko is an all-time great
Quote:
“You cannot argue with his success. He has been at the top of the division for 10 years and his credentials speak for themselves as one of the best heavyweights of all time.”
“Wladimir is clever both inside and outside the ring,” continued Chambers.
“And he knows how to generate some interest in fights against the likes of Alex Leapai even when Leapai had already lost to a guy like Kevin Johnson, who is a talented fighter, but has never been able to get over that hump and win a title. “Wladimir would look at Leapai and think that’s a good guy to fight because he’s a big puncher and people might think he had a chance to knock him out.”
David Haye incessantly taunted Wladimir during the build up to their 2011 encounter in Hamburg by wearing t-shirts that graphically portrayed his severed head. As a challenger the Londoner posed a significant threat on paper to the reign of Klitschko with his concussive power and speed but on fight night Haye found out that saying you can beat the 6ft 6” champion is one thing, carrying it out is something else entirely.
“Klitschko does the grab and hold thing really well against smaller guys and he will also extend his jabbing arm to keep you at bay,” Chambers explained. “He also has that elite strength on top of his size and power which makes getting inside on him very, very difficult. He’s also very athletic, much more so than the big heavyweights he has been fighting so to beat him you almost need that perfect storm.”
From the fast and elusive guys to the powerful modern day super heavyweights, Wladimir has turned away all comers and looks as though he can continue to dominate the division for as long as he sees fit despite the recent rise to prominence of the ‘new breed’ of fighters such as Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder.
“Like Mike (Tyson) used to say ‘Everyone has a plan until they get hit,’” said Chambers. “But that doesn’t mean these guys facing him (Klitschko) shouldn’t have a plan!”
“When I watch my fight with Wladimir there were things I did in the fight that worked early on but then I got caught with a right hand and it made me feel as though I needed to land something on him instead of playing to my strengths.
“That is the difference between Wladimir and the rest of the division. He can stick meticulously to a game plan and he doesn’t let up which for me marks him out as a great champion.”

Re: Eddie Chambers explains why Wladimir Klitschko is an all-time great
Everyone knows what Wlad is going to do in the ring, but they still can't stop it....it's not for lack of trying, it's not for lack of dedication, it's just he does little things so perfectly.
He'll gladly jab you to death for 12 rounds just as soon as score a KO.
He controls distance and pace in an expert manner.
He has power, but his hand speed is surprising.
His hand eye coordination is amazing.
If he can land a flush jab then he can land a flush right cross and there's not many boxers who have perfected that art like he has.
He is un-phased by trash talk, mind games, and childish actions.
He is always in top shape.
He is calm and deliberate in the ring. People like to think his use of the clinch is something he uses because he's scared or frightened....no, he knows what he's doing and he does it on purpose.
For a 6'6-6'7 240+ pound heavyweight Wladimir moves around the ring lightly when needed.
If nothing else Wladimir is an amazing athlete, some find him boring to watch, but most boxers would be helped tremendously if they studied his style, it's pragmatic and it works. Bruce Lee who is considered one of the greatest martial artists of all-time founded Jeet kun Do which is the style of no style, being as Lao Tsu said "Like water" water has no form until it has a container, it adapts, adjusts, and sometimes this causes for what some people call boring fights, but the key to fighting is WINNING not excitement...to win vs all comers and all styles is impressive...to do so for 10 years is most impressive.

This thread is a neo nazi hoe-huddle..
Joe Louis had a bum of the month tour.
Vlad has a bum of the month CAREER and still managed to get KTFO.

Re: Eddie Chambers explains why Wladimir Klitschko is an all-time great
Meh, I never faulted Wlad for being boring because the sport is supposed to be "hit and not get hit", especially at HW where you're fighting 230-270lb guys who could knock your head off your shoulders.
Wlad got knocked out a few times... who needs that in their lives? Better to be safe.
And even in fighting safe, Wlad has one of the best KO ratios of any champion.

I mean for fucks sake, the man had the nerve to compliment the heavyweight champion of the world!

Re: Eddie Chambers explains why Wladimir Klitschko is an all-time great
He's boring. He can't take a punch. His opponents are crap. Wlad has heard it all through out the years. And you know what? He don't give a fuck. He ain't gonna change a damn thing. And he shouldn't have too. Fools don't like the way he fight. Wlad says fuck you. Learn to like it. Or don't watch him. As far him changing his style? Not a muthafukkin option

Looks like another onetime. If you like a white fighter you're clearly a racist!

It's fact he jumps, literally jumps on people's backs. I'd like to see what he could do without holding and without jumping on backs. In other words, I'd like to see him box. I suspect he'd be a very good boxer if he tried it. Probably the best in the world. But he is nearly unbeatable in whatever sport it is he participates in.

It comes as no surprise to me that a modern top rated boxer comes out to credit the champ.
Pretty sure I'd listen to the guys actually participating in the sport rather than arm chain athletes at home who like to bag them!
Chambers'd probably be an ATG himself if it weren't for the absolute dominance of Wladimir, never before seen at HW.

Why do you guys have such a race problem? I don't care of what color a fighter is fuck I've hated Paulie Spadafora FOR AGES!!!! But I guess you can't handle a Ukrainian Heavyweight champion...gee super sorry, me and all the other white guys who run Boxing will get those belts right back to you many pardons!

Re: Eddie Chambers explains why Wladimir Klitschko is an all-time great
Umm, ok:rolleyes:. That was just a harmless gif in response to the Chambers would be an ATG comment, I wasn't meaning to say Wlad is not a dominant champion. Criticize Floyd and you're called a racist? Wtf are you on about, half of this forum criticizes Floyd. I think you are wishful with that little theory because you enjoy arguing over such things myself.

That's awesome that you hate Paul Spadafora though Lyle, do you also have a black friend? Man I had you all wrong:rolleyes:. Gtfo with that shit.

Oh for fucks sake did you not see anyone called a neo-nazi just now for even saying Wlad is good? Miss that? And yes there are people who are critical of Floyd Mayweather but the people who say he is great but just not the greatest are treated exactly the same not seen that either?
Also 0 times...0 times has anyone ever implied that a poster liked a fighter for the sole purpose of being black....it's almost as if blacks couldn't be racist when cheering for a fighter.
If your view of me has changed fine but I'm not taking constant racial abuse from posters

He doesn't have the stanima to box an entire round much less an entire fight.

Err...did I say it:confused: Did you miss that? I'm just not sure why you quoted me on that tangent I guess.. I also think that using a singular example of someone you may like or dislike as evidence against a prejudice is always so utterly lame and suggests there is in fact a bit of one. I don't know whether you're a bigot or not, it doesn't really affect me either way.

OK how many do I have to name until it's not "utterly lame"? 5, 10, 100? I gave 1 example because that's all I needed to prove the point I was trying to make. If I'm supposed to support 100% of all the white fighters then not liking Spadafora disproves that theory. I can name more if you like....give me a number I'll hit it, fuck, what do you want me to do?

Re: Eddie Chambers explains why Wladimir Klitschko is an all-time great
Give me your top 10 most hated white fighters right now Lyle, and an in depth explanation of why they are inferior to at least 5 fighters of other ethnicity's for each. Otherwise you may as well be Hispanic for all I care.

Behave yourself max :S chambers was already beaten by povetkin before he fought wladimir... Although I do think eddie at his best was a very good boxer, I hope he can get back into good form, he really doesn't have much power though and I dont think it is all because of his size disadvantage..

Re: Eddie Chambers explains why Wladimir Klitschko is an all-time great
Spadafora, Hatton, Ottke, Golota, Savarese, Corrie Sanders, Sean O'Grady, Froch, Calzaghe, and LaMatta.......details to follow after I'm drunk

Re: Eddie Chambers explains why Wladimir Klitschko is an all-time great
That's reasonable. You'll have to list at least 500 fighters from central Africa you like to convince me that you aren't a Grand wizard though.

You say Mayweather detractors catch hell. Perhaps you should look at the other side. On a thread designed to attack me and a couple other posters none of which I've ever seen say Floyd is the greatest I pointed out there werre 17 Floyd threads on the front page and none were started by Floyd fans. Who's really catching hell?
Couple quick clarifications I was joking about Wlad, he does jump on backs and hold but if he's allowed it's on his opposition to figure a way around it.
And also when I say Floyd fan I in no way mean I support violence against women or other forms of duechebaggery. Simply a fan of the fighter, not the man.

Damn, this is getting complicated. You aren't supposed to know anything about that part of the world, now I'll have to do some research and get back to you.

Re: Eddie Chambers explains why Wladimir Klitschko is an all-time great
How the hell did this become about race yet again?
Wlad could be transparent, with black extremities, white torso, red hair, and a yellow and purple polka-dotted face. He's still not an ATG, IMO. For several reasons:
1. He hasn't faced a decent challenger in years.
2. He was KTFO'ed three times in his earlier years, knockouts that went mostly unavenged.
3. These KTFO losses came at the hands of fighters of little reknown otherwise.
4. He's not above fouling in the worst way, to save his brittle chin. Even if it means stinking up the ring with clinching and mauling tactics. For this he mostly gets a free pass from the ref.
5. He hasn't had that "epic" fight, where he has to get off the canvas or come back to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.
I could give a shit what color and nationality he is.
He's as boring as drying paint.
And if he doesn't care, neither do I.

You can thank cyclone for bringing up race.
1. Ok I guess all those undefeated fighters he beat don't mean much.
2. He probably also lost a few as an amateur too, want to be a dear and go dig those up? The point is how he has recovered when his career was once on the line...and now he's 10 years unbeaten and a dominant champion. He avenged the loss to Brewster, Corrie Sanders is now sadly deceased, and Ross Purrity is retired (I think) but that fight happened when Wlad was in his early 20's. How many defeats did Mike Tyson avenge? Yeah, that's what I thought
3. Buster Douglas was well known, Oliver McCall, Hasim Rahman?
4. It's only a foul if the ref calls it
5. Get off the canvas to win....hmm I seem to recall Wlad beating Sam Peter having been knocked down 3 times....but that doesn't count because???

The idea of a white boxers being "great" is very upsetting to black supremacists like cyclone and p4pking, since they deeply believe only black boxers can ever be great and all non-black boxers are inferior.
Perhaps the mods should lock this thread.

:DPerhaps they should, seeing as you're going to keep posting rubbish like that.. I didn't even mention race except to play around with Lyle after we had a communication error, but obviously you are a humourless creep and didn't quite grasp that. I respect Wlad plenty, I don't really enjoy watching him fight but he's probably the boxer I respect most as a man out of any I've ever been aware of.
