Why do the heavyweights keep cancelling/postponing their fights?
This didn't happen as OFTEN years ago as during the past few years.
Wladimir Klitschko: backed out TWICE from fights with Dereck Chisora, now has postponed his Sep 6 fight with Kubrat Pulev
Dereck Chisora: backed out a week before his scheduled fight with Tyson Fury
Tyson Fury: pulled out the morning of the his scheduled fight with Alexander Ustinov without claiming an injury, said he had to visit his uncle who had been in hospitalized for some time
and the WORST for backing out of fights, winner of the Duck Award:
David Haye: Backed out of a HBO Wladimir Klitschko fight in June 2009, pulled out of a HBO Vitali Klitschko fight in August 2009, backed out of a fight with Manuel Charr in 2013, and pulled out with short notice TWICE for PPV fights with Tyson Fury later in 2013.

Re: Why do the heavyweights keep cancelling/postponing their fights?
Scared of getting knocked the fuck out. As the weights go higher and higher, you see the proliferation of fight postponement. The power, the power.
People say Heavyweights aren't skilled and thus they have to put in a p4p. But, I think heavies are the most technically skilled- at the high level- than all of the other weights.
When one punch can change the fight... not a one punch and then a barrage... but one punch, from any heavy in the top ten- and not just one or two guys in the division- then you have to be skilled, have concentration and the mental fortitude to stick it out.
Yea... there may only be 10 punches thrown a round. But if 5 of those are murderous, with you lulled to sleep by inaction, then by goodness you had better know what's what.
I would much rather fight at a lower weight, roll the dice, than to fight in the heavies. You have to know your stuff.
It's like a highly technical job, like nuclear disaster clean up. Yes, it is a necessary job. But, how often does it happen? But, when it does, you have to know what the fuck it is you're doing- thus the danger of the heavyweight division.
Re: Why do the heavyweights keep cancelling/postponing their fights?
I think it has always gone on and you just have not noticed it before. It happens at the lower weights.

Not as much as the heavies...

Just can't agree with you about the high level heavies being better technically than other boxers that are at a high level in their weights.
I can't see it, myself.
The heavies do have more punching power, but the lower weights all have heavy hitters that can end a fight with one punch.
Not really wanting to argue, I just think you are wrong. lolololo
If you really felt that Nonito Donaire can knock out Wlad... then you are entitled to have that belief. lololol......

Yea I disagree with you too. Id much prefer to get KOd with one punch by Wlad then bludgeoned round after round by the likes of Pacman.

A loss is a loss... and with each round, you stand a chance to win.
Re: Why do the heavyweights keep cancelling/postponing their fights?
I imagine heavyweights are more prone to injuries....more force going through the hand and arm joints, greater weight being distributed through the ankles.
Re: Why do the heavyweights keep cancelling/postponing their fights?
[MOD EDIT] this thread has tanked. please get back on topic.
Re: Why do the heavyweights keep cancelling/postponing their fights?
I wouldn't think Wlad is scared, I believe he has a genuine injury.
Same with Chisora.

He never had injuries vs. Mormeck, Leapai, Pianetta or Wach. lololol...
Re: Why do the heavyweights keep cancelling/postponing their fights?
Simple: Wlad got caught not wanting to take PED tests. Pulev caught him out, now he has to run around talking shit.
Re: Why do the heavyweights keep cancelling/postponing their fights?
Wlad was going to fight on Eurosport.

It baffles me how little you know about this.
You think that Wlad gives a shit about what Pulev wants?
You think it makes a difference what Pulev says?
You think that it would even make a difference to the outcome of the fight if Wlad did the same drug testing?
More so, do you think Pulev is the first guy to complain about this? Wlad didn't duck any of the others did he?
Now I don't really like Wlad but case and point - He is the champ, fighters fight on his promotion, and he essentially does whatever the fuck he wants, why fake an injury and lose money?
Why not simply replace Pulev?
You believe Wlad cancelled a multi million pound deal because Pulev said "Oh no drug testing blah blah"?
It's ridiculous that you know so little, or have such little common sense.
I imagine you walk into a lot of walls.

Fights were postponed for less. Especially if he failed the test, had to go natural, and he gets his ass handed to him.
Re: Why do the heavyweights keep cancelling/postponing their fights?
wladimir v pulev has been rescheduled for november.
Although I think wladimir faked this arm injury to dodge the ice bucket challenge

I agree with you... and it only makes a sorry division even sorrier. Personally, I lost my interest in the heavyweights years ago. It's only out pure morbosity that I watch any HW fights at all.
But I feel for you. You're the "torch-carrier" for the division, constantly giving up updates and headlines. Do a pretty good job, too. Wish we had a better division for you to carry the torch for.
Re: Why do the heavyweights keep cancelling/postponing their fights?
Wlad backed out of a fight vs Chisora? Did you mean Vitali because I don't recall Wlad ever signing to fight Chisora.
The PED bullshit is brought up by Sauerland fighters all the time because well they are 2nd rate fighters like the rest of the division at the moment. Wlad is just better than them and they want to do things outside the ring to try and get in his head. Pulev's best chance at winning using his best skills is to try and outbox Wlad....I hate to break this news to you, but he's not going to be able to do that, Wladimir is too good of a boxer to lose that way. Pulev doesn't have the power to KO Wlad the way Sanders did....I'm not certain about Kubrat's chin but I'll bet it ain't as sturdy as Brewster's or Purrity's were and even if it was Wlad knows how to pace himself now.
You are right about David Haye though....he has half assed his way to stardom. The pathetic little toad

Wladimir Klitschko pulls out of Chisora bout with abdominal injury | Sport | The Guardian
seems it was when chisora was undefeated..
Re: Why do the heavyweights keep cancelling/postponing their fights?
Anybody wonder how Joshua got on in his sparring with Wlad? Maybe he got hurt, just a thought!!
