If the first fight with Castillo was counted as a loss and the first with Maidana as well a loss. Would Mayweather be as big as he is now? Would he have been the cash cow ever?
Yes or no?
If he would have lost I think we'd see the best of Floyd in fights after that. He wouldn't be scared of losing and take tougher fights. Pacquiao lost and still is a top earner in the sport.
Why on earth would the first Maidana fight be a loss?
I agree, I think Floyd would become more aggressive and show he does have power too and got more K.o's. Also Dela Hoya lost all of his big fights and was still the cash cow. I think as long as you got public appeal it don't matter if you lost or not. Does it matter for floyd?
Many people already viewed Castillo 1 as a loss or at least way too close for comfort. Same with Maidana 1, Mayweather came back, adjusted and pretty much dominated. I think he'd be exactly where he is now whatever the numbers read like.
Floyd lost all his fights.
In fact, he doesn't deserve to be the face of boxing or richest athlete on earth.
He has ducked everyone and the illumati and new world order has put him in this position.
The fact he fought and beat castillo in a close fight with a torn rotator cuff and then listens to fans and gives him a rematch and dominates uninjured should be applauded.
Yeah I said it...lol
Floyd would not be able to command as much money, everyone wants to see him lose his 0.
Without his 0 he wouldn't be a quarter of the star he is. Every fight is sold on - 40 tried, 40 failed, 45 tried, 45 failed, 47 tried etc etc
Floyd-Hatton was billed as - Undefeated
Being undefeated is a massive seller for casual fans (who are the market for PPV)
Being undefeated is who floyd is and what every single proffesional fighter wants to be..
Everyone wants to be undefeated and if it wasnt for the montell griffin disqualification roy would have possibly retired a long time ago.
Being undefeated can be a gift and a curse at the same time especially when your the boss at the same time!
The pressure is not only on floyd but on the opponent who knows no one has never actually took him to a place that isnt part of his make up.
Khan was undefeated but those losses and a better trainer has made him a much better fighter.
But there are some fighters who cant actually change their style and the way they were exposed in the past will continue to happen again against any certain type of opponent in the future.
Not every fighter wants to be undefeated they want to be great and remember and just having an 0 doesn't make you great.
Yeah but I think, if given the choice, they'd prefer to do that and come out of it undefeated. Floyd tested himself and left behind an incredible legacy that's worth going back and watching, and he never lost. That's pretty amazing.
I know a lot of people think Floyd never fought anyone good, but of all the guys people claim he ducked (Marg, Paul Williams, ect), the only one I think would have given him a good fight would have been Pacquaio.
Floyd Mayweather is TBE in the world of boxing entertainment, sports AND business.
Anywhere but Vegas & Floyd would have lost to Castillo & Maidana 1 Floyd didn't really adjust in the rematch with Maidana he just hired a minder who doubled as referee Kenny Bayless. Bayless was there to do a Cortez type job to make sure Maidana didn't get chance to fight. I said when Bayless was announced as ref that he would be a key factor in the fight. I never thought he would do what he did tho I used to think he was a good referee but now he's losty all credibility for me
the best ever??? at beating women. hilarious. true boxing greats are rolling over in their graves at that stupid comment. heres the real Floyd.
The Boxing Tour de France - Boxing.com
Which boxer has made more money?
Which boxer has fought 18 years undefeated at the highest level?
Which boxer has created more demand for themselves?
Floyd is TBE in boxing entertainment, business and management AND he's an undeniable ATG fighter.
So rather than give him any props in the Castillo rematch lets just slate of Kenny bayless and assume he is on Tmt payroll.
And let's not forget that no fighter wants to be undefeated but actually wants to loose in every fight.
I am so surprised at some of these comments!
I'm a big Whitaker guy but I have to say Floyd had a few extra gears that Pernell did not, and he had more tools in the tool box.
But does Floyd say he's the best boxer of all time or does he just say he's TBE?
Obviously the "TBE" slogan is a rouse designed to garner more publicity for him. It ensures his fights sell more and that people keep talking about him, arguing about him and keep clamoring to see his fights. He's TBE at this. It's undeniable.
Please someone tell me who was better at getting publicity, selling seats and PPVs, pure boxing skills, making money, making brilliant management decisions AND has lead the way in improving the sport(the way Floyd has lead the charge with PED testing).
Who's better?
There is no one who is better. Floyd is undeniably TBE.
If he had loss(es) I guess it would depend on who beat him and how.
Rather than claim he is undefeated, he'd claim he was robbed ala Bhop style & keep on fighting.
I think a loss would've required a rematch, to which he would've won-as did when his questionable victories were called into question
One thing for sure is that virtually all great fighters at some point got the benefit of the doubt.
Marciano was in a fight where his nose was near torn off. Any other fighter & it would've been stopped.
JCC got a gift draw vs Pernell.
Ali got gift wins like a kid gets gifts on Xmas.
Ray Leonard got a gift draw vs Hearns II..and stated he loss that fight hands down.
DLH got a gift win vs Quartey
Most big named fighters will always get the benefit of the doubt.
For the record, as close as the Castillo I fight was, I had Floyd winning 6-5-1, Floyd is undefeated.
I do agree when people say floyds 0 means a lot to him but no fighter wants to loose their 0.
Ask JC if he wanted to loose his 0.
If JC lost to robin Reid his career would have been completely different and he would have probably been even better knowing he wouldn't want to take another loss again.
Being undefeated is everything unless your not!
