What did you get for Christmas?
Today is Christmas Day. There is some lingering snow outside and it is supposedly around freezing out there, but I am toasty warm and it feels like any other day of the year. This thread is to ask the question 'What did you get for Christmas?'
It is Christmas Day and as of yet, I haven't received anything. Actually, that is not completely true as my wife was cooking some bacon and I was offered some, but because of my health regime, I politely refused. So I was offered some bacon and I said no, which means that I haven't had anything for Christmas. I ate a pear and drank some lemon water instead. I am a bit weird. Don't get all misty eyed and sad for I am quite okay. We don't really bother with it all as we are grown adults and little Chomsky couldn't care less either being passed out asleep at my desk.
So the big Christmas Day poser.....What did you get for Christmas?

Re: What did you get for Christmas?
Nothing yet.... as it's still Christmas eve over here.
Whatever it is, though, I'm sure I'll like it.
:)
BTW, doesn't your wife know about your health regime?

Re: What did you get for Christmas?
She has been very impressed with my animal magnetism, but thinks I have become a bit too strict with my adherence to my plan. She is quite right in saying that a little bit of bacon is okay, but I don't want to just start cutting corners as that is why most people struggle with diets. You need to resist that morning bacon, that mid morning snack, that cake in the office. She is one of those lucky people that has always known moderation and, so it is easy for her to offer me bacon and say a little is okay. However, it is like Cherie Blair offering a rocket launcher to Tony Blair, you just know there is going to be carnage and exploding hearts. One should just resist the bacon, don't tempt the glutton. I will have beef curry for dinner and that is my indulgence. Beef curry AND bacon is borderline City of London banker after deregulation. It's never going to end well.

Good for you, Miles. Stick to your guns. You're right about some people being good at moderation while others are not. Knowing yourself is the key to self control and improvement. Moderation at Christmas time is not easy, so kudos for sticking to your regime.

Good quality new bed sheets feel great mate, besides you can ask the women shopping in there for their expertise and then go for a coffee with them to say thanks, then you know. And they end up making the bed too. Its a win /win.:cool:

Re: What did you get for Christmas?
I didn't get anything and I feel like playing a computer game, so I'm going to bloody well drive downtown and buy myself one. Not sure what to get, but there are a few I want. Alien: Isolation if it's there. Will have to see. Bloody Christmas.

Re: What did you get for Christmas?
Can you believe this? I drove all the way downtown which took quite a bit longer than normal because it's Christmas, got into the department store, then found there weren't many games. So, I decided to buy GTA 5 again as my PS3 is dead and this is for the PS4. I drove all the way home with my game, opened it, and found I had gone home with a display model! No game CD! Aaargh! What on earth? I had to drive all the way back, get a proper game, drive home again and finally I have a game I already have. Over 2 and a half hours for what should have taken 40 minutes. Aaaaargh....aaarggghhhh....aaarghhh....let's go shoot some people!
Edit: All worth it in the end. The game is amazing in first person perspective! It gives the game a whole new breath of life as you can see everything in detail. I have spent time just driving around reading signs. There is a watch advertisement with the slogan "Strap on time". Just so wrong, but something I would never have picked up on on the PS3 and the lack of FPS. You would ignore walking down side streets before, but now you walk around just taking in the sights. I had no idea the PS4 controller speaks to you as well. It scared the cat to death when Franklin's friend started speaking through my controller. It scared me too. What on earth is that? I just finished Far Cry 4 and thought that looked good, but in terms of character animation that was still kind of basic. This is an even better experience with the increased traffic, characters, and new eyes.

Re: What did you get for Christmas?
My Mrs bought me "The Boxing Companion"
Attachment 3345
An absolute classic collection of boxing writing from Homer,Virgil,Byron,Hemmingway, etc and fight writers Leibling,Fleischer and others, along with stuff from fighters like London,Marciano,Corbett, and Tunney. Put together by Denzil Bachelor in the sixties, but about as timeless and great a collection there has ever been. I also got a copy of Damon Albarns "Everyday Robots" album and his opera about the English Scientist/Occultist "Dr Dee".
Got my Oldest grandson a pretty unbreakable toy digital camera so he can take Photo's like Grandad and Finally finished editing the blueray video for my daughters wedding, so she was chuffed.

Re: What did you get for Christmas?
I'm into magic so I got a few magic gizmos, one which will allow me to float a ring or playing card in midair and have it spin around. It's a lovely effect that always leaves my audience baffled. I also got a rising card effect, a spectator picks a card out of the deck, puts it back anywhere in the deck and with hands off the deck I can have the selected card rise out of the deck. I already have a number of ways to perform this one but I always like to try something new. Got a couple of other odds and ends but the magic is the most interesting to me.

Alien isolation is not bad at all but I would say not great either, i need to finish it, it can be amazingly frustrating which is why I haven't played it for a few weeks.. it depends what you like really, it is a rather cinematic game and the gameplay is mostly sneaking if you like that then you will love the game.. I am diabolical in sneaking games so for me i love and hate it :S...... it looks good and the it is a nice story but the gameplay annoys me.. Closest game i would say it is like is siren blood curse , which is a real survival horror game , you cant fight back in that one :S....
So i'd say if you're a fan of sneaking and like alien the original film over aliens you will like the game :S if not errrr I don't know.

Re: What did you get for Christmas?
Turns out a bonus showed up on my desk. In the form of taxed company income check. After 15 yrs straight cash would be doable in my opinion :-X
@Andre you're a helluva lot smother than me. I lost her at "do you prefer silk or cotton to cover a kingsize" ??? Simple enough question, I didn't get the whole over reaction. But the sheets are great

Ta for the comments. I like the first Alien film a lot and like the idea of a suspenseful, spooky, horror type game. I've done a lot of mass shooting stuff and I just want to do something a bit different. I guess if I wanted something different I could always have picked up Farming Simulator. Has anyone seen that game? It is one of the most bizarre things I have ever seen, an actual farming simulator. Not much shooting in that either. It was only for the PS3 though. Still, quite happy playing GTA 5 again. It looks really, really lovely on the PS4. Detail in every pixel.

I have that book nestled in the seat tidy thingy attached to the back of my seat in the car, it's been there for yonks. My kids read it all the time when we're driving.
