Defend them
It is not the systems and ideologies that are at fault but the implementation of them by greedy and power hungry human being.

Communism and Socialism do not work. On a basic behavioral psychology level those forms of government/economy don't work. They have been tried and they've been tried in places like Germany and Korea where the nations are split in half and 1 side thrives while the other rusts in despair....do you know which would be the rusting despair filled side??? Then there's Cuba, vibrant jewel of the Caribbean 3rd largest economy in North America, 7th largest economy in the Western Hemisphere......then Castro comes to power and the island is now poorer than Haiti....fucking HAITI man!
But it needs to be tried again, it deserves to be tried again no matter how many people suffered and died under previous regimes. Yeah let's give it another go shall we, maybe this time we WILL rid the world of Jews! Maybe this time we WILL indoctrinate everyone!
Capitalism is THE BEST SYSTEM THERE IS....not just because I say so but because it's historically accurate.
Re: Happy May Day comrades!
Capitalism exploited Africa of its resources and encouraged the slave trade. The repercusions of that still go on today.
Other than that it has been great.

Slavery has been around since the dawn of man, well before Capitalism came about and slavery is done, over with, finished, in Capitalist societies.....not so in North Korea, not so in the Islamic State, not so in areas around the globe without freedom and liberty
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4xeebU8VhmY
....but you know, whatever
Big economic booms in the United States were they do to slavery? In the 1940's-1950's or the Reagan boom in the 1980's? Or the '.com' boom in the 1990's????? Did the United States exploit everyone each time???
Communism and Socialism look at the economy as a 0 sum game meaning if 1 person is winning the than must mean another person is losing....Capitalism isn't like that, it's more advanced, it's more humane, it's better for the most people.

Re: Happy May Day comrades!
Living wage eh? What do people do to EARN this wage?
No low wage in Britain? Ah I suppose you have 0 poor people then correct?
No cuts for what? If it's "anything" then what great amounts of fraud and waste you'll enjoy!
No privatization for what? Again if it's "anything" then you won't mind my squatting at your home...oh YOU won't have a home, the public would.
Re-nationalize mail & rail? Why so they can be a black hole for tax dollars?
Austerity is needed to avoid bigger issues
Ah the good old NHS...you guys ever buy private insurance or do you never have a reason to buy it like for example if you needed a drug/treatment not available/provided by the NHS?
Workers are necessary, but it's kind of pointless to be all "Up the workers" if you don't have a place of employment sooooo the guys signing the paychecks at the end of the work week are fairly important as well......IF you want to get paid
Yeah fuck all those private people that make all that money, it's not like their taxes pay for your NHS, mail & rail, living wage, fluff.
I'm on the side of the individual...I need no collective, I shall blaze my own trail thank you very much.
Hey I hear tell that Billy Bragg is down for the struggle....let's pop by his modest abode and...

Opinion: The Height of Hypocrisy? Michael Moore Owns Nine Houses, Worth More than $50 Million | Watchdog Wire
....well fuck me he talks a big game but $50m & 9 houses....hopefully those houses are filled with refugees and workers on strike that Moore is feeding and taking care of because holy FUCK is he a hypocrite if he's just keeping that for himself.
But go on, you were saying "the workers"???

Master let's say we were in the same class together. Let's assume that you're really awesome in school and you make straight A's. With those straight A's you can get into any university you please, and make straight A's there and go on and have any job, any profession you like ok?
Well if the schools you went to adjusted their academic policy to match the economic policies you love and cherish so much then you being the 1% of top grade earners would have to sacrifice your great grades for lower grades so that your entire class would be on the same level yes? And with that happening you go from straight A student to C student...being a C student limits your options for university. Being a C student at university limits your options for employment.
You worked for A's, you EARNED A's....yet you're telling me that you're going to be happy with C's because you've got solidarity with the useless fuckwits who sleep in class, don't study, don't try, don't assert themselves? You'll be happy providing them a safety net? You'll be happy when those same useless folks come to you with their hands out asking for more?
....in my version you could keep your straight A's open a business, give those formerly useless people jobs, set standards for those people to reach so that they may improve themselves and provide for their families thereby giving them a since of ownership in their own lives....but nah man, solidarity, so many people have been lifted up by the soft bigotry of low expectations.
Re: Happy May Day comrades!
You really have a warped view of socialism. My view is as Green beans says it. There is no need to have vast inequality and unfairness where people are going to food banks, children in huge classes and people not having access to health service.

Re: Happy May Day comrades!
Austerity is a stick to beat people with.
Fuck that
and fuck those who use it
Re: Happy May Day comrades!
Stopping the loop holes in tax avoidance for multi nationals would go a long way to fund schools, hospitals and vulnerable.
Non Dom status gone.
Banks and stock traders need to face imprisonment for destaibilsing the economy.
Parts of the NHS needs to be outsourced to voluntary organisations as a monopoly is not a good thing.
Teachers should be responsible to teach kids and not chase targets.
Police need to merge as there are too many divisions.
Renationalise the services into non profit making organisations who will bid for the work and focus on quality not only profit.
Re: Happy May Day comrades!
I agree with each of the points made by Greenbeanz. Austerity is ideological otherwise how do you account for the national debt doubling while poor people with little are left with nothing but food banks? It is evil and it really is time for revolution. I don't mean that in a selfish bloody way, I just want people to collectivise and look out for one another. All it takes is for HSBC to be blacklisted and some bankers to be thrown in jail. There is PLENTY of money out there, it is just being printed for a select few and the government is helping them hide it away. Bankers are just a parasitic class and this is a bastardisation of capitalism. It is time for change. The richest Brits have doubled their wealth since 2008. Doubled! Did they actually do anything to deserve that? Meanwhile nurses are being cut or else denied any increases in wages. This isn't capitalism. It is a disease.
Re: Happy May Day comrades!
Reminds me of the ol' times when me and Kirk use to debate these things here. This issue of left and right has been muddled just a bit too long by the old cold war rhetoric. Darn, both sides have been stubbornly sticking to their extreme positions but believe me, when all the dust of the cold war has settled down, people will debate this issue in a more objective manner and they will find the right balance where everyone gets what is best for them. That's how it is and how it will be and nobody can stop that. But by the way it's going now, it'll probably take another thousand years or so...
...make it another hundred years...

That is a lot of British specific stuff right there.
America spends PLENTY on schools per student....yet we lack the results of other nations that are spending less...WHY?
Too much Capitalism??? One look at Academia and you'll find that FAR from the case.
Your "Parts of NHS need to be outsourced" and "Renationalize the services" are kind of ideas that are at odds with each other aren't they? NHS needs the private sector for a little help and you're good with that but services need to be run by the state 100%....will that make things better or worse? You could get what you pay for if you don't watch out.
Re: Happy May Day comrades!
Outsourced to nonprofit making organisations like the voluntary sector in the example of the NHS.

Uh huh and there are nonprofits ready to handle that load?
Not all of them. They need capacity building but that should be done as that investment will save in the long run.
