People couldn't wait for Floyd's retirement. I can't wait for Wlad's......
What a f*cking chump. Couldn't even handle a cowardly dropout from the most anticipated HW fight in years with any amount of credibility. Rarely have I been as disappointed in a fight cancellation as I am with this one. A big HW gets up in his face with conviction, confidence, and bravado.... and the chump "pulls his calf". I guess that's Ukrainian for "took a dump in my shorts". Man... I was willing to watch this anticipated fight and hope for something good out of the HW division. Let the chips fall there they may. If Wlad KO'ed Fury... good... as long as Fury put up a good fight. If Fury KO'ed Wlad... even better. Maybe set up a rematch or something. But no. Yet another maddening cancellation to make a crappy division even more crappy.
Just retire already, Wlad. You're bound to run out of small, meek, sheep-like opponents who you can lean on and maul to your heart's content. Someone's bound to call your bluff, and make you remember those early career KO's you suffered. No need to ever expose your chin again. Just retire and go into politics with your brother.... and leave the division to the guys who WANT to fight.
Go away.

Re: People couldn't wait for Floyd's retirement. I can't wait for Wlad's......
As frustrating as this has to be for Fury, I wouldn't let Wlad off the hook. I'd be calling him a coward at least once a day from now on. Ridicule him mercilessly.

Ive been looking forward to wlads retirement for years
-
Re: People couldn't wait for Floyd's retirement. I can't wait for Wlad's......
Yup, gotta give Wlad his due but enough is enough. The heavyweight division has been unexciting and holds little interest since his reign. Even if he does a Floyd and retires for a spell it will help boxing out.
-
Re: People couldn't wait for Floyd's retirement. I can't wait for Wlad's......
I think Wlad wants to play mind games with Fury and let his fire burn out.

I don't think he wants to fight a clown who wears a Batman costume to a boxing presser!

Re: People couldn't wait for Floyd's retirement. I can't wait for Wlad's......
I don't really care if he retires or not. There is no one up and coming that brings anything really to the table at this point. If you can't beat wlad then there's no hope for the division anyways.
-
Re: People couldn't wait for Floyd's retirement. I can't wait for Wlad's......
That Wlad vs. Povetkin match up totally turned me off.... from Wlad... that and the bums he has fought through his championship reign... but since he beat the breaks off of Pulev, Wlad showed me why he deserves to be champion!
-
Re: People couldn't wait for Floyd's retirement. I can't wait for Wlad's......
what exercise in the gym would "pull your calf"? So close to the fight night. That Batman costume sure had a "calf-like" effect, and so suddenly afterwards as well.

Re: People couldn't wait for Floyd's retirement. I can't wait for Wlad's......
I've never been a big fan of Wlad but you guys have to be kidding me with the calf thing. He hurt his calf, why doubt him? Has anyone here ever had something so simple as a calf cramp? Injuries happen, it's not a big deal. The dude is 39 years old and has a ton of muscle, strains and injuries are going to happen and anything in the lower body (hamstring, groin etc) is going to linger. Would you rather him lose with an actual injury then be out for a long time (Pacquiao) after giving an underwhelming performance or just have a go when he's 100%
Again, I'm not a Wlad fan but you guys act like it's not possible for a calf to prevent you from fighting. That's absurd!
-
Re: People couldn't wait for Floyd's retirement. I can't wait for Wlad's......
As bad as Wlad is, I don't really see how his retirement is going to improve anything.
It's not like he's standing in the way of a host of exciting, talented up and coming heavyweights who are about to take the world by storm.
It says it all when people are looking to a fairly ordinary, but hard hitting novice like Joshua as some kind of saviour.
At least with Wlad there's a guy who is far better than the rest of the chumps who fills the role of the natural champion. When he does retire some extremely ordinary heavyweights are going to be holding world titles and the situation will be even more depressing.

I think(as I just said in another thread) if this was an isolated thing nobody would question it. Given the luck Fury has had and the fact Wlad has pulled out before, along with this being right after a presser just makes this seem fishy. I think Wlad was going to win this fight easily and I'll buy his injury, but I do wish fighters were held accountable in this situation.

Anthony Joshua appears to me to be as good as Lennox, prime Wlad of 2009 or anyone else (of course we won't know for sure until he faces some top 25 HWS).

Based on what?
All he's done is faced a bunch of stiffs and hasn't even been hit.
The only thing you can say about Joshua is that he hits hard. He's not the first heavyweight with a big punch and he certainly doesn't have anything in common with Lennox Lewis.

Re: People couldn't wait for Floyd's retirement. I can't wait for Wlad's......
Never seen such dumb fucking words spoken i mean the man is 39 and has a injury. I would rather him be at 100 percent i do not want excuse if people lose so let them heal. Wlad been champ for 10 years and pretty much fought everyone gets a injury at old age everyone starts acting like a twat.

Re: People couldn't wait for Floyd's retirement. I can't wait for Wlad's......
After seeing Wilder, it makes you appreciate Wlad because crap like Wilder/Haye/Valuev should never be champions.

Lets hope fury wins.

Joshua has never been forced to go 8 or 9 hard rounds of REAL work in a real fight setting. So we don't know how he will respond. Also, I don't remember him being hit. Wilder has been 12 and at least has been hit by Stiverne and by Molina.

Even if he does get really good, he is too young for wlad anyways. Wlad will definitely be gone by the time he is ready for him.

Re: People couldn't wait for Floyd's retirement. I can't wait for Wlad's......
100% agreed. ive never seen such a big powerful man unwilling to fight. its a disgrace. if i was that size and skilled, with that right hand power, id be knocking MF'ers out left and right!! not plodding, jabbing, hugging MF'ers to death. povetkin & haye fights are perfect examples of wlads bullshit.
go away wlad. MF was even too scared to fight briggs. who got under his skin like no one else.
wlad is scared to death of briggs. now fury it seems too.

Gee really?
What a f*cking coincidence... that the guy tears a calf muscle right after the opponent gets up in his face, showing him a complete lack of fear and respect. An opponent that can look him in the eye without tilting his head up. An opponent Wlad knows full well is capable of destroying that china chin he protects more than the gold in Fort Knox. What a f*cking coincidence.
A torn calf muscle..... have we heard anything else about the injury? Was there an MRI done? Does Wlad have a history of torn calf muscles? Did Wlad embark on a totally different, radical way of training which caused this torn calf muscle?
The goddamn division is in a shambles and we finally have the most anticipated fight in YEARS!!!
And Wlad conveniently pulls a CALF MUSCLE!
Don't want to hear that shit about Wlad being 39 years old and all the bullshit excuses you would predictably make for him. Precisely BECAUSE he's always in excellent shape is PRECISELY the reason why it's so suspicious, FFS. If he was some blubbery, training-adverse tub of lard.... I'd understand it more. Hell.... I would've expected a pulled calf muscle more from Fury than from Wlad. It's a B.S. excuse. That's all it is..... and if you polled the boxing world, you'd find most people are at least a little suspicious of the injury.
Why didn't Wlad pull a damn calf muscle before Pianeta?? Or before Leapai?? Or before Thompson twice?? Because he knew these bums posed NO DANGER..... that's why!
So if you want to give Wlad a free pass on his cowardly dropout, as much as it hurts the sport of boxing..... be my guest. Just don't expect the rest of us to fall for his line of bullshit.

The doctor who treated wladimir and did the scan has been quoted saying it's torn and the fight should be postponed.. More details on Klitschko injury | Boxing News | Fightnews
He is a very famous doctor who treats a lot of sportsmen so you would hope he could be trusted but he could well be in on it too.

Torn calf muscle.... yet the fight supposedly has only been pushed back a month. Good thing we have those doctors who know a hell of a lot more about medicine than us mere mortals. Here I would've thought a torn calf muscle would set Wlad back at least 3-4 months.
Also, no you're right. If a doctor says something about a sportsman, his word is gold. May I recommend "On Any Given Sunday"? Gives you a little insight into doctors in the NFL. But again.... hey... a doctor said it so it must be true. Heaven forbid any special interests might come into play.

Re: People couldn't wait for Floyd's retirement. I can't wait for Wlad's......
A fan of Wlad's who defends his pathetic showing against Povetkin isn't really a fan of good boxing, IMO. That has got to be one of the most infuriating performances by Wlad in a recent fight, and that's saying a lot. Povetkin came to fight... but you can't blame him for not expecting what he got from Wlad: a hugfest, maulfest, and just plain foulfest of epic proportions. Who knew Wlad would single-handedly ruin a fight just to avoid getting that chin tapped.
