Re: Luis Ortiz vs. Bryant Jennings HBO December 19
Good fight IMO, Jennings is too quick I think he'll stop Ortiz but it'll be a good action fight.
-
Re: Luis Ortiz vs. Bryant Jennings HBO December 19
How is Jennings to quick? Ortiz has some seriously fast hands for a big guy. I think he might stop Jennings tbh, great match though.

Re: Luis Ortiz vs. Bryant Jennings HBO December 19
Was hoping talk of Jennings v Wilder would see it happen but this will do just fine. If Wilder won't fight a top ten guy they can fight each other! Give the very sharp punching and physical to Ortiz but he is seriously lacking rounds. His toughest adversity may very well come from a blown up lt hvy who repeatedly hit him low, elbowed and had Ortiz cut up but he kept his cool. This is a huge step up experience wise all things considered.

Re: Luis Ortiz vs. Bryant Jennings HBO December 19
I'm thinking of the trouble Jennings had against Perez, and see Ortiz as similar, a Cuban southpaw with fast hands, only one who is bigger and has a much better punch. Definitely could be that he'll fade down the stretch as Perez did against Jennings though.

Looks like there will be VADA testing for this fight. :thumb:

Looking forward to it, good match and easy to remember, six days to Christmas.

Yeh bud. Looks like it'll be the last main network card for couple of weeks into 2016??? Always hate that dry spell of no live action and holiday specials repeated 101 times ;D Hope this happens

Ortiz has fast hands for a big guy, sure. Jennings is more athletic, he has good footwork, he has good reactions, and far and away the better record. Ortiz's biggest win was a NC (due to a failed drug test) over a cruiserweight. Jennings has fought some talented guys...and he went the distance with Wlad which not many folks can do.

Jennings is very solid and he did prove durable against Wlad. Still, Ortiz is a beast and very good at delivering his power. He doesn't seem to be a lazy fuck like some Cuban heavyweights either. I think Ortiz wins this.

Who has he fought and beaten? I checked his record...I'm not impressed
-
Re: Luis Ortiz vs. Bryant Jennings HBO December 19
Jennings hadn't fought anyone before his last two fights either, depends how impressed you were by those I guess. Of course it's a step up for Ortiz, but Jennings isn't a big puncher and he's physically pretty outgunned here imo, I think it's a wise move.

I was impressed when he ate old Monte Barrett alive.
Jennings is def more proven but he's not sensational and his resume isn't all that deep either.

Re: Luis Ortiz vs. Bryant Jennings HBO December 19
Fighting 'someone' doesn't always mean you've actually been in a fight. Jennings has had steady levels of progression in opposition, as he rises so does the opponent. For 20 fights his roll and rounds traveled blow away many at the point including Ortiz. Not even close. That's just refreshing and a blueprint for improvement rather than being baby stepped to title and then go backwards like that other guy :-X. The question always posed and at front especially for heavies...has anyone seen Ortiz punched in the mouth, take a solid shot??? Off the jab Ortiz is a fookin monster early but if he thinks he can Ibeabuchi Jennings he may get spun and rung up underneath. Even better fight more I think about it.
-
Re: Luis Ortiz vs. Bryant Jennings HBO December 19
Get that totally, but outside of Wlad, I think Ortiz would have simply made easier work of anyone else Jennings fought, and you could make the same point if he had. I might be alone in thinking that how bad Jennings looked against Perez in the early rounds is the most relevant precedent for how this one will go, I don't think Jennings will be able to handle the power coming from a lefty who can deliver and will actually let his hands go. For me, Jennings was one of Wlads worse performances in recent years, another guy he should impressed against but didn't. Great match up though, it's an exciting HW fight for a change, let's wait and see.

his win against szpilka was pretty impressive and his best performance too(in my opinion), I think Szpilka is a pretty good conteder and could give a lot of guys a really good fight and beat a lot of them too.
It's going to be interesting and a fight I am looking forward to, can't wait to see it !

I think Szpilka is just decent and Ortiz would/would have easily pummeled him in a couple of rounds, which was part of my point. I agree this is a great fight though!

Maybe, I think it's certainly a big step up for ortiz, I like jennings but I sort of hope ortiz wins this one well so we have a new guy in the title picture.

Re: Luis Ortiz vs. Bryant Jennings HBO December 19
El Bump! Under the radar card here, respectable big division match and still riding with Jennings. Ortiz is a legit deceptive monster who I like but nice to see Jennings connect in between the lumber and get it! Who cares, good fight!
Walters fight reads like a lopsided showcase style-size wise and they have return of Gamboa too!
-
Ortiz by KO.
He's a stalker with legit power and a Cuban boxing background.
-
Re: Luis Ortiz vs. Bryant Jennings HBO December 19
I am looking forward to this, I quite like jennings and I think he is a talented guy, Ortiz has looked impressive in his last few outings despite his failed drug test(but really who isn't at it :S), so I think this is going to be a very interesting fight but not super fun to watch. I am going for Jennings to win a very close decision, with ortiz coming close to knocking him out in the later rounds.
star wars battlefront is great fun btw

Re: Luis Ortiz vs. Bryant Jennings HBO December 19
Gonzalez v Shabranskyy might be the sleeper war this undercard. Very solid
-
Re: Luis Ortiz vs. Bryant Jennings HBO December 19
Ortiz looks dangerous for anyone but is he another lazy Cuban heavyweight?
I didnt realise he was so old either. Hes 36. I think he may struggle if Jennings makes him work.
-
Re: Luis Ortiz vs. Bryant Jennings HBO December 19
Be interesting if Ortiz destroys Jennings, as it will say a bit about where Wlad was in his last couple of fights.

Your desperately hoping eh;D
-
Re: Luis Ortiz vs. Bryant Jennings HBO December 19
Hoping for what? Jennings gave Wlad half an argument and recieved well deserved credit for it. We will gauge something from this fight by what happens. That's simply how we gather knowledge.
-
Re: Luis Ortiz vs. Bryant Jennings HBO December 19
I have Ortiz winning in my predictions.
-
Re: Luis Ortiz vs. Bryant Jennings HBO December 19
Weights and order of fights
1. Jorge Melendez 154.5 vs. Steven Martinez 154
2. D’Mitirius Ballard 169.5 vs. Fabiano Peña 172
3. Nicholas Walters 129.5 vs. Jason Sosa 130
4. Luis Ortiz 239 vs. Bryant Jennings 229.5
(Both bouts on HBO Boxing After Dark)
5. Yuriorkis Gamboa 133 vs. Hylon Williams, Jr. 133
6. Gabriel Rosado 158 vs. Joshua Clottey 157
7. Yunieski Gonzalez 175 vs. Vyacheslav Shabranskyy 175
(Above three bouts on HBO Latino immediately following HBO telecast)
-
Re: Luis Ortiz vs. Bryant Jennings HBO December 19
Jason Sosa could be in for a new level of hurt here
-
Re: Luis Ortiz vs. Bryant Jennings HBO December 19
Walters is looking good in my opinion, some nice body shots... 6 inch or 6th sense left hook whichever it is it won the round :S
-
Re: Luis Ortiz vs. Bryant Jennings HBO December 19
Walters can fight no doubt, nasty uppercuts and body shots, but he is also getting clipped by a guy who looks pretty average. Always hard to know what to take from fights like this.

;D That was funny Lampley had no idea and turned it all Jedi or something
Walters work rate and accuracy killer here.
-
Re: Luis Ortiz vs. Bryant Jennings HBO December 19
oh dear, I think B-hop is great but it sounds like the two other announcers aren't far away from reaching under the table and jerking him off :S
-
Re: Luis Ortiz vs. Bryant Jennings HBO December 19
HBO crew going overboard talking this up. Its turned pretty workman like and almost sparring by Walters I think. Sosa tough but gap glaring.
-
Re: Luis Ortiz vs. Bryant Jennings HBO December 19
Walters easily, but he was there to be hit throughout and actually took some decent shots in the last round. I think Loma might wreck him badly.
-
Re: Luis Ortiz vs. Bryant Jennings HBO December 19
LOL, ahahahahah. A draw. Jesus.
-
Re: Luis Ortiz vs. Bryant Jennings HBO December 19
You have to be fucking kidding here. Absolute garbage call, line the judges up
-
Re: Luis Ortiz vs. Bryant Jennings HBO December 19
LoL 2 had it even and the other for Sosa.
Every week
Be nice to have 1 unblemished card a year
