I don't think it will be as one sided as a lot of people are making out, I rate Beefy, yes old ginger flaps has to be the favourite but don't be surprised if its a hell of a lot tougher than people are expecting.
Smith really needs a stoppage to win though doesn't he, no way is he going to get a decision on points.
I've seen Smiths last 3 fights now, maybe mismatch is a bit harsh but I can't see him winning and the article was a bit silly. Liam Smith to me isn't one of the best fighters from the UK, and the fact that he's largely unknown to the public is irrelevant. As if Canelos handlers wouldn't have watched him? He's a good offensive fighter, but he needs to be coming forward and throws a bit wide, I see him pretty tailor made for the ginger.
I can see Smith give Canelo problems, he is young, hungry, undefeated and big enough to go the distance but he will be ripped off by the judges.

It's such a massive jump in class for Smith it's hard to gauge his chances. However, it's a terrific style match-up. This is stupidly obvious but - If Smith isn't out of his depth it will be a great fight.

People are always moaning about Canelo's size/weight advantage, well he's not having it here. Think this will be a terrific fight.
Not sure what people are looking at, once you see them from the front it is clear Canelo is larger, quite clear. Liam is taller, not the same size.

Smith is naturally gonna be the bigger guy on the night and if his chin can take Canelos power then the Ginger one is bang in trouble and getting stopped ;)

Smith seems relaxed and confident he can stop Canelo, interesting what he says about the weight - in that Canelo hasn't fought at 154 since the Mayweather fight 3 years ago and anything close to that hasn't wanted to put a title on the line.
I don't think Canelo can still comfortably fight at 154 whereas Smith clearly can which is why im picking Smith to stop him in the late rounds :)

I said it before and I'll say it again. Canelo will come in over the weight, it won't be for the title, so if Smith loses , he keeps his title. If Canelo does miraculously make the weight, he may be sufficiently drained that an upset could be on the cards.

He's been weighing in at 155, it's not as though he's been consistently missing the weight by several pounds. Surely one pound isn't going to have an adverse effect on him, considering he turns into the hulk after the weigh-in

I think he'll "make" the weight. Even if he steps on and then steps off before the scale really settles or uses diuretics. He's based in Mexico; the WBC is based in Mexico; and they're fighting over the border in Texas which is known for crooked Sh*t.
Oscar says, canelo follows suit and then he'll start paying weight penalties when he can't do this any longer... till GGG looks beatable or loses a step.

Canelo has never been above 155 for a weigh in, and he's never missed that. Whatever you think of the guy and his hold stint with the "middleweight" title, it's not like this is Chavez Jr we are talking about here. I know little of Liam Smith, but... how much will he weigh on the night of the fight? Is he a naturally big guy? 'Cause he's going to have to come in at a comfortable 175 to be anywhere close to Canelo's size. If he's somewhere between 160-165, he'd better have a plan that does not involve trading with Canelo, 'cause that's precisely what Canelo's camp is banking on..... a smaller guy trading with Canelo.
Liam smith is a rather big fellow, not sure exactly how big but I dont think there is going to be a huge difference, two of smiths brothers are super middleweights, not that that really means much as his other one is in the smaller weight classes :SQuote:
