That is a sad one.
Boxing is like sex. The more you have it the less you appreciate it and start to wear women's underwear.

It’s hard to be humble when you’re as great as I am.
I’m not the greatest. I’m the double greatest. Not only do I knock ‘em out, I pick the round. I’m the boldest, the prettiest, the most superior, most scientific, most skillfullest fighter in the ring today.

I never liked this quote because it just isn't true, a lot of the most recognized and appreciated names in Jazz are also among the very best, and what the hell would George Foreman know about it;D

Re: Your Favorite Boxing Quotes
I was gonna rip his heart out. I’m the best ever. I’m the most brutal and vicious, the most ruthless champion there has ever been. No one can stop me. Lennox is a conqueror? No! He’s no Alexander! I’m Alexander! I’m the best ever. I’m Sonny Liston. I’m Jack Dempsey. There’s never been anyone like me. I’m from their cloth. There is no one who can match me. My style is impetuous, my defense is impregnable, and I’m the ferocious. I want his heart! I want to eat his children! Praise be to Allah!

Re: Your Favorite Boxing Quotes
I mentioned this quote of SRR before. Reflecting on youth, prime and downfall.
When asked about his declining skills:
"The fighter himself is the first to know it. You find you have to think your punches. The punches you use to throw without thinking, you now have to reason.
It is something that happens to all of us once the instinctive inventions and discoveries have been made. Then we reach back into the library of our experience, and what was once the product of inspiration is now merely the result of reason."
Now that's some scientific talk there:

Re: Your Favorite Boxing Quotes
Love this Tyson quote
Mills Lane stopped the action to ask Randy Tex Cobb if he was okay. When Cobb replied that he was, Lane asked him, "Do you know where you are?" Cobb replied, "I am in Reno, getting the s**t kicked out of me."
In the same fight the action was stopped so the ref could check on Cobb. He asked him, "Do you see me?" Cobb replies, "Yeah. You're white. It's the black guy I'm worried about."
Hugh McIlvenny to Joe Bugner, "You didn't try hard enough against Ali!"
Bugner to McIlvenny, "Well bring on Jesus Christ!!"
McIlvenny to Bugner, "You're only saying that cos you know he's got bad hands!"

Ali, Cobb & Tyson are the best at funny quotes. Ray Robinson above- not a quote, rather a reflection. A britlliant quote IMO!!!!!!
Andre Ward made a comment I really respect. When asked why not come back? You got another good fight or 2 left to which he replied, "Why can't I leave... with one or 2 fights left in me?"
Do we really want our boxers to leave with nothing left to give as a human being? Leave it all in the ring fight by fight, but not leaving the game- with nothing left to give are 2 totally different scenarios.
That makes Ward's comment one for the ages.
IMO.
