The pressure of all the investigations is getting to Trump. He's starting to crack up. Expect more firings along this line.
Last week Comey asked Trump for more funds to expand the Russia investigation. A week later Trump fires him ostensibly for being too unfair to Hillary Clinton during the email investigation. This despite Trump being previously on the record multiple times saying what a great job Comey did. Even GOP Senators are mocking the reason Trump gave. "Preposterous", "no possible honest explanation for it" and so on. Trump also fired the acting Attorney General, who was in ultimate charge of the Russia investigation, for being too pro-Hillary. And fired the NY State Attorney who was investigating amongst other things his New Jersey Trump casino money laundering cases/fines and his ties to Russian mafia figures. And that was after saying he wouldn't fire him because it would make Trump look like a crook trying to obstruct justice. Everybody investigating him gets fired. It's getting to be a habit. Fortunately he can't fire the New York Attorney General.
It's never the original crime that eventually nails these fuckers, it's the attempted coverup. But even Nixon didn't fire his FBI chief. That's going to create more angry people than you can imagine. If Trump thought he had problems with leaks before just wait for the next few weeks. The top GOP people need to have a rethink too. They don't even know what they're covering up.
I can only imagine the GOP/media reaction if the Kenyan tyrant had fired the Director of the FBI while he was heading an investigation into whether high crimes had been committed.

Trump was told he wasn't a target of the investigation. Being the target of an investigation is a specific legal term. If the investigation progressed (subpoenas were issues for various Flynn associates yesterday) to the point where guys like Flynn were indicted and then offered a deal to tell the truth then Trump would become a target of the investigation. But these investigations take years and Trump holds the highest office in the land. It's not something that can happen overnight. I'm pretty sure nobody will roll over on him as far as Russia goes and the worst that will happen is that he just looks incompetent for letting Russia run his campaign to the extent they did. What he really needs to worry about are the money laundering investigations and his ties to various crooks. Comey getting fired will supercharge the Russia story in the media and stuff that has slipped under the radar like Trump casinos being charged/paying fines for laundering Russian money will get an airing. Lots of leaks to come the next few weeks anyway.
Trump can not keep attacking and sacking everyone that disagrees with him. Media, court and FBI have disagreed with Trump and they face his wraith. He is a dictator and maybe that is why he likes Russian and Putin so much.

I put it right up there with the hypocrisy also shown by POTUS who massaged a message when it benefited him politically and/or personally. Many Dems had a serious case of knots in their arse when Comey appeared to jump the gun and put himself into the spotlight immediately in front of the election but in hindsight you can fault their luke warm candidate and baggage more so. I'll do 101 things today and the one that will not make the list is pretending to defend let alone listen to anything Maxine "IMPEACH NOW" Waters says. That said whatever outrage some dems had and their questions about Comey had erupted prior to this official investigation being launched. Trump has never shown respect for the wider Intelligence community, he's publically mocked and dismissed them and has been more than rabid with the FBI involving leaks. You do not remove the head of an investigation involving yourself and our election once it's underway.
