Eubank v Abraham - 15/7/17 Wembley Arena
Chris Eubank Jr sparks outrage by comparing fight with Arthur Abraham to World War II in Twitter exchange
Chris Eubank Jr sparked outrage on Wednesday night with a crass response to a tweet from Arthur Abraham — comparing their upcoming fight to World War II.
The IBO world super-middleweight champion was not impressed with Abraham claiming Germany would beat England once again when they collide at Wembley Arena on July 15.
But the ill-judged reply to his challenger, who was born in Armenia and boxes out of Germany, whipped up a social media storm.
Following England's Under-21s losing on penalties to their German counterparts on Tuesday, Abraham landed a verbal blow by tweeting: "See @chrisEubankjr England will not beat Germany — it will be the same result on the 15.07. @itvboxoffice."

Predictably, Eubank wasted little time before firing back on Twitter.
The Brighton-based champ blasted: "Similar to how the British dealt with Germany in World War II — in our fight you are going to be obliterated @ArthurAbraham."
While it could be argued that Eubank, 27, said what he did in a poor attempt to drum up interest in the title defence, to be broadcast live on ITV Box Office, it went down like a lead balloon among Twitter users.
Scott Crabtree said: "Out of respect please don't ever compare boxing and its classlessness to war and its losses."
Referring to Eubank showing off his new motor earlier in the evening, Matt Walker added: "You should've spent some money on a PR team instead of that Range Rover. That tweet is in incredibly poor taste."
Scott Thornley also waded in, tweeting: "What a stupid thing to say. Comparing a boxing match to a war where millions lost their lives."
Eubank believes victory over Abraham will put him on collision course with fellow Brit George Groves, who holds the WBA Super version of the world title.
Speaking to Boxing News, he said: "I want to make that fight. The public want to see that fight. It’s up to him.
“I’m sure he wants to keep his belt. If he gets the ring with me, he’s going to lose it. He’s probably biding his time, he’s trying to stall.
"I think that both of our styles would make for a great, great fight."
Abraham, 37, firmly believes he will wreck Eubank's plans by ripping the IBO gold from his waist next month.
If their Twitter exchange is anything to go by, there is likely to be more trash talk before any leather is traded.
And as far as Eubank is concerned, it appears he is sticking by the phrase "there is no such thing as bad publicity".

Re: Eubank v Abraham - 15/7/17 Wembley Arena
The winner of Chris Eubank Jr's super-middleweight bout with Arthur Abraham will earn a place in the inaugural World Boxing Super Series.
Eubank, 27, defends his IBO world title against the 37-year-old German at Wembley Arena on 15 July.
WBA champion George Groves and Britons Callum Smith and Jamie Cox are among eight super-middleweights already entered in the Super Series tournament.
Smith sacrificed a WBC world title shot against Anthony Dirrell to take part.
The winner of the knockout event will earn a share of $50m (£38m) and take the Muhammad Ali trophy.
But they will have to negotiate quarter-finals in September, semi-finals in January and a May final in a tournament which organisers say will "change the world of boxing."
If contestants meet a current world title holder during the tournament, belts will also be on the line.
"It would be great to fight George Groves and to take his title away from him but let´s see what the draw in Monaco brings," said Eubank.
A cruiserweight tournament will run alongside the super-middleweight competition and as all four cruiserweight world champions are taking part, the division should have an undisputed champion by May.
Abraham believes the Super Series represents "the Champions League of boxing". He holds a record of 46 wins from 51 fights and is a former two-weight world champion, while Eubank has just one defeat in 24 bouts.
Both will know their potential Super Series quarter-final opponent on Saturday when the draw takes place in Monte Carlo.

Still a cracking fight not worthy of ppv but should be on normal ITV with Gary Newbon.

Great commentator from the 80's. Stop pretending you are not old enough to know.

Nonetheless you are still promoting the fight and the more interest you drum up, the more ppv clicks it will get! 👋
Wait a minute, or is this you doing that challenge where you start a promoting company and then show AJ how to do it? 😂😂😂

Re: Eubank v Abraham - 15/7/17 Wembley Arena
So this fight has just got interesting as the winner earns a place in the "Ali SMW Tournament" which George Groves among others is in so we will see Eubank fighting Groves in the future if he wins

In principle yes but this is boxing, there are no end of "legitimate" reasons/excuses as to why he would/could/will pull out even after he signs up for it

Re: Eubank v Abraham - 15/7/17 Wembley Arena
Why would he do that?
He's at an age where he has to beat AA and then look to win that tournament.
He's been treading water for far too long and seriously needs to ramp his career up.

I agree. We don't even really know how he will cope with AA yet. AA is the kind of guy for his whole career who I have always thought is going to get exposed big time, solid but does nothing brilliantly and other than Froch and I can't recall many exposing him. He is getting on now though so the Eubanks may have fortuitously got him at the right time. As annoying as they are I hope they win and take part in this tourney just we can see Jr against someone like Groves.

Robert Stieglitz did stop AA.

ah..yeah ..forgot about that so it can be done. I think Eubank could out work Abraham but can't really see him stopping him. I hope he goes into the tournament because I think Groves is all wrong for him and Groves mentally alone could take him to pieces even before stopping him in the ring. They will dodge him though. Pull out or have some other excuse like they did for GGG.

Stegiltz does have a stoopage win over abraham but it was an eye injury that forced a stoppage Abraham wasn't down. They rematched and Abraham knocked steglitz out and ended the rivalry 3-1 up.
Chris is saying that abe has never been stopped which technically is incorrect but I think he means he wants to be the first man to knock Abraham out. At 38 time is against abe so eubank has a chance but if true world class fighters couldnt knock him out it will be a real statement if eubank can. From what I've seen jnr has fast hands but no serious power. Looking forward to the fight and expect eubank to win 12-0 120-108

Why? Simple . Because his name is Chris Eubank! Logic goes out the window with these clowns.

Yeah, I might miss it as well, I have to watch some paint dry and then brush my teeth!
I would rather have a wank whilst holding a broken bottle than pay to watch that fucking clown! Unless somebody could guarantee that he got KO'd!!!!

Yes I can.
why not pay it
Because I've got better things to do with my money than line them pair of Jokers pockets.

Uhm, if I'm not mistaken, it's not a tenner, it's closer to 20. But if that's the way you have to convince yourself to buy it, crack on! it's a free country and you can waste your money however you want . I would rather buy a round of drinks. ;D

Re: Eubank v Abraham - 15/7/17 Wembley Arena
It's the best opponent he has had so far, but it is not PPV worthy. That is just another delusion of the pair of them. People will buy it though and it's up to them if they want to. I may watch it if I am not working but I am not sure I want to fork out for it. Is it really 20 squid?

I think it's £18
It is an interesting fight but does every single interesting fight justify knocking on for £20? I think not.
I may watch it if I can get a decent stream if not the Britain's got talent or Ant and Dec Saturday night show
