Jamie Carragher spits on 14 year old girl - suspended by Sky Sports (video)
The football pundit was caught on video spitting towards a teenager following Liverpool’s 2-1 defeat at Manchester United. The incident happened while Carragher was driving, ending with him winding down his window and spitting towards another car carrying a teenage girl. He apologised on Sunday evening for the incident via Twitter however the broadcaster has now been suspended from his pundit role on Sky Sports

Re: Jamie Carragher spits on 14 year old girl - suspended by Sky Sports (video)
This is doing the rounds on social media (obviously a scouser who wrote it)
1) why are people not jumping down the dads throat? He was driving a car whilst holding his mobile phone and filming another car as well as goading another driver. So was potentially putting his own life, his daughters life and other road users life in danger.
2) When did it become all right and acceptable to give abuse to someone? Bet most people will call it banter, but it is still unwanted abuse and doesn't set a good example to his daughter sat next to him.
3) Yes I don't agree with spitting at people, but can see how it came to it. Carragher was 'trapped' in his car and the other car seemed to be keeping the same pace as his car with the driver hurling abuse at him. As with all video's you end up seeing on social media they are a small snapshot of an occurrence. You don't know how far the bloke had followed Carragher and how much abuse he had given him. For all anyone knows he could have seen him outside the stadium and started giving him abuse there and been at him for 20 minutes before Carragher snapped.
Yes it was poor judgement from Carragher but he is only human and at least spit will wash off, whereas road rage could have had deadly consequences.

Free Jamie Carragher and let him be allowed to carry on. The dad was to blame for all this.
-
Re: Jamie Carragher spits on 14 year old girl - suspended by Sky Sports (video)
the dad was an 4rse but I just can't understand how he couldn't rise above this.
And sorry but I've always considered spitting to be one of the lowest of the low things to do.
Rodney Marsh went for a tsunami gag (ok it was live on air...), Bristow for a tweet about young abused footballers, Keys and Gray for off air sexist convo (ok caught on a recording)
I don't think they've a choice.
He wants a chance to show the real him apparently - i think he already has

Meh....I'm not bothered by it at all really. Jamie Carragher is going to be fine with or without Sky Sports. Sometimes fans take things too far, sometimes in kind responses are unjustified. It's just tabloid crap that always gets thrown on Liverpool players and fans alike and for some reason England LOOOOOVES them some hate on Liverpool.

The anti-Liverpool hate is unfair. Jamie has never done this before, completely out of character, apologised, is on final notice and needs to be forgiven.

Plenty of Pundits have been sacked for far less as Mark TKO has pointed out, i reckon the guy was following him/winding him up for ages and the Scouser finally snapped.
I don't see any way at all he keeps his job as a pundit.
"Down the Road, Jobcentre" for me - you just cant do that in this day and age and expect to get away with it, smartphones have moved the goalposts bigtime ;)

Re: Jamie Carragher spits on 14 year old girl - suspended by Sky Sports (video)
Carragher is a cunt, can't stand the bloke.
Regardless of that he has to go.

As long as it is not 14 year old girls that is fine.

It was a good shot. Clearly, he has retained his dribbling skills post retirement
-
Re: Jamie Carragher spits on 14 year old girl - suspended by Sky Sports (video)
Just putting a theory out there but what are the chances he was just trying to speak but being a scouser, spat everywhere inadvertently??
-
Re: Jamie Carragher spits on 14 year old girl - suspended by Sky Sports (video)
If some bloke was harassing me I would probably spit too. I don't see the problem. The things people get upset about these days. Meanwhile serious crimes are going on daily. If everyone just started spitting on one another the world world be less hygienic but infinitely safer.
-
Re: Jamie Carragher spits on 14 year old girl - suspended by Sky Sports (video)
I think I am just so used to people spitting everywhere that it isn't a shock to me. Honestly I was sat in my car yesterday just taking a break and I saw 3 people spitting on the floor in the space of a few minutes. When walking you have to make an effort to avoid the streams of sputum. If someone started to annoy me in the street spitting would be an almost natural response at this stage. You cannot throw punches as that will cost you several thousand pounds. Spitting is the way to go.

Re: Jamie Carragher spits on 14 year old girl - suspended by Sky Sports (video)
Miles, it brings out something primeval in me.
I don't have a daughter, but if somebody spat at my wife I must admit I would lose the plot and go prehistoric on the spitter. Maybe that's why we ban guns, because I would shoot them. Without question.

The guy in the video was not that bad, but he had no reason to be filming and winding up Carragher. He should have been driving a car and that is that. He should think himself lucky he wasn't doing that to 1988 Mike Tyson. The car would have been wrecked, the phone broken and his skull cracked. Just drive your car and go wherever you are going. Is it so difficult?
If it was me there would have been no filming and I would have left him alone. No problem then.
-
Re: Jamie Carragher spits on 14 year old girl - suspended by Sky Sports (video)
I quite agree, the prick in the first car was showing off to his young daughter by goading Carragher. The idiot was driving with her in the car, window open, filming and shouting abuse.
Now he is apparently the victim, it's his fucking fault
Youre quite right, Iron Mike would have savaged the guy .... and possibly gone a step too far with the daughter too :o
-
Re: Jamie Carragher spits on 14 year old girl - suspended by Sky Sports (video)
It's not particularly abusive, but he was being a prat. I think his daughter even said 'Stop it' as she knew herself her Dad was being an idiot. You don't drive and film and wind up someone you don't know when they have done nothing to you. It's hardly crime of the century, but nobody has any obligation to be 'nice' back to you when you are behaving like that. His daughter could see it, Carragher certainly thought so and the result was some spit. Boo hoo. Definitely worth a sacking. :cwm3:

The dad/driver is being interviewed by the police. It would be ironic if he lost his job because of the incident.

Neither of them come out of it looking great but gobbing at someone is pretty scummy behavior. "what about that then 2-1 eh?" is hardly harassment. What is the world coming to when people are supposed to feel aggrieved for some Prima Donna Multi-Millionaire footballer who is such a baby he can't even take a bit of banter. You get far worse from the terraces, it's part of the game. What Dad here what not have beaten the living daylights out of the twat for gobbing on their daughter? Weird and I am supposed to be the PC liberal ponce? It's quite enlightening reading the responses from the Liverpool 'fans' calling the bloke a parasite for being a carer for his Mrs. I would not be surprised if like most of the Liverpool 'Fans' here, not only do they not come from the city, most have probably never or rarely ever visited it or Anfield.

Now why bother bringing that up? What point are you attempting to get across? Are you trying to say if you're from the town where the team is you're automatically a great lovable person who obviously never verbally abuses anyone?

No..but at least they went to the match. You are not a fan mate you are just an American Hipster who loves virtue signal his sophisticated Eurocentric sports appreciation awesomeness dude. Liverpool have always had plastic fans since the 80's. Just beyond sad really.

You know who decides if I'm a fan of something or not? Do ya? ME, I decide. YOU do nothing about me.
Hipster, what's hipster about me? Is there some criteria you can list which I meet?
Your hostility towards me (again  ) is unnecessary but believe me it'll be met and then some. You can decide how far down that road you'd like to go old man, I'll give you that option, again.....maybe you'll choose wisely this time I doubt it, but the choice is yours.
Where would you like to take it?

The daughter told her own Dad to stop it. She knew he was an idiot, so for the Dad to then assault Carragher for it when he had his window down, while driving and filming? Well, as you were. Aren't you a carer? Are they all like this? :p

@Gandalf you brought up the spitting thing in 2nd best Korea. Same thing in china, I was rather shocked. During the Beijing Olympics (the corrupt thing it is) they put up signs asking the natives not to spit. It seems to be a cultural thing. Also, the bathroom use is rather horrid

Yes, it is a horrible thing really. Spitting all over the street is very common here. That's why I see Carragher do that and I think he would fit in nicely here. Beanz would be going mad trying to deck them all. Sometimes you just have to accept that some people don't want to swallow.
