Any vacations planned this year?
I have been trying to convince my wife to go with me to Israel, Jerusalem is my dream vacation. I wouldn't need to travel again if I get to Jerusalem. She says she is scared to go due to terrorism which I hear from others but in reality you don't hear that many major attacks in Israel, which is strange as they are the biggest quote unquote enemy of many Islamic countries. So she wants to go to China again. I love china, beautiful country, nice people as long as you don't talk politics but this would be my third or fourth time going. I could just let her go and I go elsewhere, I am not sure where I will go but I need to do something. We were talking about Great Britain as they have a good deal on flights leaving from my state but we have nothing solid.
Re: Any vacations planned this year?
Great Britain is great if the sun is out.

Ha, it would be Wales. Another downer about china is last time I spent 23.5 hrs in transit each way. It's a killer,
Re: Any vacations planned this year?
Not yet, but think I will probably head off to South East Asia this year at some point. Like you, Walrus, I cannot be doing with long flights. I end up going through immigration and get to the hotel just unable to talk as I have been awake for 30 hours or whatever it is and you then spend a week recovering with the jet lag. It is no fun. From now on just short flights relatively close to home seeing places I have not seen before. I wouldn't mind going to Vietnam or somewhere like that.
Re: Any vacations planned this year?
I've not been on holiday since I was 11 years old and I've not been abroad since I was 4...im 32 now :-(

Your parents transitioned you that early? (abroad, a broad....:spit: )
I travel around the state a bit but probably won't do a big trip for a while. Last one was my trip to Buffalo, NY and Canada. The next trip might be Peru, the wife wants to go to Machu Piccu for some kind of spirit journey or something

Re: Any vacations planned this year?
I'm going to Spokane- beautiful Spokane Washington- in a couple weeks, for four days. Then Chicago for a week two weeks after that. Portland this summer and Denver in the fall.
Re: Any vacations planned this year?
Well I might go to St. Paul Minnesota this spring so at least things are starting to move a bit

If you were there in 80's or early 90's we already were ;D. Heading back to old stomping grounds of VB and possibly Norfolk next couple of months, just for a look around and go from there. Have a friend with a couple of rescue groups in Chesapeake also. I need a change.
Have always loved the calm of being so close to woods and beach all in one.
Re: Any vacations planned this year?
I'm relatively close to there actually. Maybe there's beer in our future
Re: Any vacations planned this year?
I’m going to Thailand for 7 weeks starting in june  My girlfriend was born in and still has her family in Chiang Mai, which is a city in the north mountain region, and we(I) now own a condo in Pattaya, which is on the water south of Bangkok. Going to split the time up roughly half and half and take motorcycles down in order to see a lot of the country, hopefully make lots of other stops. I’ve never even ridden one, but you don’t need a separate licence there and from what I hear you could just give the cops a bit of cash to leave you alone anyways. Only bummer is it’s the start of their rainy season, but it’s supposed to be more like it pours for a few hours and then stops, rather than constant pissing. If I play my cards right, I’m gunna ride an elephant into some rural area, tear apart a human trafficking ring by trampling pimps, steal their haram for myself then retreat deep into the jungles and start a commune.

I like your style.

Have you been to Thailand before?
Its possibly my favourite country in the world!
Chiang Mai is great, much cooler and wetter than the rest of Thailand. If your girlfriend is from there, she will know the city really well. You could get a genuine Sak Yant tattoo done and blessed by a Buddhist monk while you are there ;D;D
Bangkok is mad, vibrant and fun. As you're s boxing fan you should try and get tickets to the Lumpini Stadium to watch the Thai boxing. If you go with your girlfriend you could get into the Thai area (they always sequester foreigners in a separate area, and I've always wanted to sit with the Thais as they are raucous and knowledgeable). Lumpini is the Madison Square Garden of Thai boxing and you will see some talented and unbelievably brutal fighters!
I have only spent a little time in Pattaya, but I enjoyed Phi Phi and Ko Lanta more as laid back beach places. Khao Lak was cool too.
Youre right about the bikes, but seriously mate the roads are a death trap on a bike or scooter. Really. I have lost track of the number of foreigners I have seen with injuries and big bills.
Fantastic country, great food and really nice people. Hope you enjoy it buddy.
