Lomachenko

I had the fight 8-4 with Lopez nullifying the output from Lomachenko in the first crucial 7 rounds.

Lomachenko had 8-11 and Lopez had the last round.

How confident was the father/trainer of Lomachenko that it was just a case of dominating the later rounds to win the fight?!

The plan was flawed and Lopez will always have his number.

Can we hear from anyone that saw a different fight from the scores above and if you feel there’s an excuse coming in the next few days to cover this massive loss.

The bigger weight class, the massive lay off, etc etc etc

I also had the fight for Lopez 8-4.

Lomachenko really thought he won this.

I said before the fight that this would be the hardest fight of his career and it turned out to be true. I don't understand the strategy of losing the first seven rounds and putting all the eggs in one basket to try to pull out the victory in the last five rounds.

This fight reminded me of Hop vs Jermain Taylor- where Hop moved and tried to tore the bigger man out before applying pressure late. I feel like Hop was much more effective and best Jermain up much worse, but it was still minimal output early that was difficult to overcome.

I had Lopez winning 7-5, but can see the 8-4 score as well. What impacted me about this fight was realizing how impressive it was for Floyd to beat Canelo like he did. Like Lopez, Canelo was the much larger man. Unlike Loma, however, Floyd used his experience, skills, and IQ to completely embarrass Canelo.

The other thought I had while watching the fight was how impressive Manny is. He doesn’t have a fraction of the amateur accolades or experience Loma does but he chewed up much larger and better guys than Lopez- despite starting at a MUCH lighter weight than Loma. This fight illustrated how special Manny and Floyd are/were.

Comparing Loma-Lopez to Floyd-Canelo is a disservice to Loma, IMO. Loma wasn't fighting a plodding "Canelo" in there. Lopez matched Loma in speed and exhibited a boxing ability few people expected before the fight. Floyd threw a no-hitter against Canelo because regardless of the difference in size, the chasm in speed and boxing ability was displayed for all to see. Canelo missed some punches in that fight not by inches... but by feet.

We agree on Manny. Whatever people may think of him, the fact of the matter is he went through several weight divisions, shocking everyone by how he beat solid, bigger fighters. Floyd and Manny are indeed special.

At world level you cant wait 7 rounds to start fighting and expect to win.

Loma bottled it. I had it 116-113 Lopez

Lopez will go down before the 9th round if they rematch. 😎😎😎

He'll be at 147 within a year or two. And 135 was Loma's stated limit, with the move down the only option. NONE of which detracts from Teo's victory over a great fighter.

Loma didn't wait till the second half to fight he was stopped from starting by a highly skilled, stronger, fresher man. Had Loma started like he finished Teo may have knocked him out. That's why boxers have gameplans, trainers, teams, study oponnents and are matched against specific styles.

The notion that the other 135 young guns wash Loma now is ridiculous. You got clowns like Shakur and Haney saying "told ya Loma was a hypejob." Morons. Complete morons.

The way Loma stepped up in the later rounds was impressive. The 12 round though, the young guy really dug deep.

Loma looked nothing like the guy who many had announced prior to the fight was the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world.

There were no signs of the explosiveness he is known for, and his quickness seemed substandard. He was reacting to Lopez instead of making Lopez react to him.

Size, clearly, was a factor.

Floyd is on different level from Loma.
Pac is on a different level from Loma.

8 is close.
2 is Lopez.

Lopez made Loma look quite easy and Lomachenko can’t fight going backwards

He is not 'my boy' and he is still a great fighter. It is OK for great fighters to get beat. Floyd was a very different beast. I get the defensive skill of both is a standout marker but the way they go about it is very different.

However much of a dick he is as a person i am not about to hate on the ability of Floyd, as he truly was outstanding, and on many occasions a true artist to watch. His movement and reflexes were sublime and we are unlikely to see them

Loma took hard body shots and poker-faced it all night. He was hurt several times. I think he left something of himself in the ring that night, and will only be 90% of himself from now on. I think Haney wins it handily.

I would still favor Loma over Haney the same reason I favored Loma over Lopez. Loma has proven to be an elite fighter. The difference was that Lopez at least proved that he was a top fighter by beating Commey. Haney hasn’t proven that yet.

Could Haney win? Absolutely, but I would still favor Loma

I think as a self confessed SJW softy lefty libtard or whatever people call it, then I have be been a bit guilty of assuming most racism comes from the white majority against a black minority. While I still think that is the case, it is surprisingly, not so endemic in boxing, for many reasons.

You though seem so sure of it being present in others that you seem to have rather unwittingly revealed your own hand. I’ve gotta be fair , I don’t think Ronnie Baby is a racist as in a Black / White thing. But I do think he has issues with Russian fighters especially.
Don’t get me wrong, he’s also been very disparaging about British fighters as well , Black and white if memory serves me right.

Well I don't fault him for being loud. Loma's gone through the two or three steps usually taken by those who thought themselves invincible and underestimated their opponent.
