Mayweather win upheld!
The Nevada State Athletic Commission has just upheld IBF welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather's win over Zab Judah. Mayweather's $5 million purse has been released. Floyd's trainer Roger Mayweather was fined $200,000 and suspended for one year as punishment for entering the ring before the end of round ten, prompting a wild melee. Roger, who was in attendance at today's hearing, said he thought the round had ended before he came in the ring. Zab Judah's purse was not released pending a disciplinary hearing to be scheduled. More to come.....

Re: Mayweather win upheld!
I would like to see that one year ban extended to the entire USA for Roger.
We all knew the decision would be up-held, after all the hotels had paid out on a Mayweather win, so that was a no-brainer. But I am impressed that the NSAC actually have given Roger Mayweather a long ban.

Thoughts...
1: Floyd got what he deserved for acting like a champion.
2: Roger got what he deserved for acting like an idiot.
3: Judah got what he deserved for performing like an idiot.
4: Like it or not...boxing got what was called for in the end.
5: I didn't see that you had posted this till after I had.
6: Sal...you tried...but Floyd won.
-
Re: Mayweather win upheld!
Wow...that's harsh but I guess it was necassary. I guess PBF - Hatton will have to take place in Conneticut or NYC now.
And why is Judah's purse withheld? He wasn't to far in the wrong. He should get off with a slap on the wrist but he won't because the Nady incident happened in Vegas. Didn't he get put on lifetime probation after that?

Perhaps you forgot: Judah, in desperation, intentionally punched PBF hard in the nuts in order to immobilize him so that he could pick his spot and intentionally punch PBF hard in the back of the head (a life-threatening move). The man should be banned from the sport in Nevada--what he did is FAR more dangerous (and illegal) than anything Roger did.
This was the right move, and just as I expected:

if u wanna get technical floyd landed quite a few shots to the back of the head, he also grabbed zab by the back of the head, held him, and hit him in the face QUITE a few times, do i have to make another movie?

I didn't really see what was the big deal with the Judah low blow. It was no different from Ricky Hatton against Tszyu so don't see why Zab needs to be further crucified.

1. Ricky should have been penalized for what he did to Tszyu.
2. This was far different. Ricky low-blowed Tszyu in retaliation for Tszyu's (seemingly unintentional) low blows preceding it. Ricky hit him to serve notice that he wasn't going to be pushed around like that. Once he had done so, however, he backed off, respected the calling of time, and that was the end of it. He didn't stand there, wait for Tszyu to buckle over immobilized, and then hit him in the back of the neck. I don't get what's so hard to understand about this--it's not the low blow, it's the intentional rabbit punch when Mayweather was already keeled over and completely unable to move or otherwise defend himself. A low blow is (hopefully) not going to paralyze you or give you brain damage; a punch to the back of the head easily could.
-
Re: Mayweather win upheld!
you cant argue retaliation makes it OK, if thats the case then its OK that zab hit ellerby
-
Re: Mayweather win upheld!
HALLELUJAH!!! This is great news. Justice was served. Uncle Rog got a 200 G fine that PBF will pay without blinking. And his 1 yr sentence doesnt mean he cant train PBF. It just means he cant work in PBF's corner. Big deal! And I'm glad they're holding Zab's money.
-
Re: Mayweather win upheld!
Oh boo hooey...it's becoming painfully apparent that Don King's strangle hold on boxing has finally subsided...he can cry all he wants...but if he wants to say that something is illegal/wrong/criminal...he needs to take a look in the mirror.
Strangle hold? Heh heh heh.

Re: Mayweather win upheld!
I gave CC's to Shza and Wacko for good posts. Sal, I wont sad click you for your opinion, but I'm really wondering why you're so pro-Judah on this topic. He and Rog Mayweather were both in the wrong. And I didnt realize the ban is only for Vegas. So PBF will fight in Memphis or NY for the next yr. Big deal.
SaltheButcher, If you cant admit that the low blow AND the behind the head shot were intentional, in the words of Jack Nicholson, "YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!!"

Re: Mayweather win upheld!
Roger was absolutely stupid and wrong in stepping into the ring, but before he got his hands on Zabs neck did anyone see Zab waiting for the right moment when he ran around the back of roger and tried to hit him with a cheap shot ? then in the post fight interview tried to seem innocent what a Brooklyn degenerate he is.
-
Re: Mayweather win upheld!
Bigsexy, I agree, Zab is a degenerate. But no need to mention "Brooklyn" degenerate. I'm from Brooklyn, in fact went to the same high school as Judah, and we're not all degenerates.
-
Re: Mayweather win upheld!
yo thats F'd cuz OSCAR DE LA HOYA's swang song bout is already scheduled at the MGM grand on sept 16th soooooooooooo if its against PBF then PBF wont have his crackhead uncle in his corner????????????
-
Re: Mayweather win upheld!
Not so. They could fight in NY. PBF's from Michigan, DLH's from Cali/Mexico. NY would be neutral ground.
-
Re: Mayweather win upheld!
Booey I'm from uptown Walton ave the Bronx went to Chelsea Vocational H.S and it seemed at the time that everyone from planet Brooklyn was a degenerate
-
Re: Mayweather win upheld!
Well I see that you went to high school. So you should be smarter than making a generalizing statement like that about all of us Brooklynites.
-
Re: Mayweather win upheld!
True. went to College too.
-
Re: Mayweather win upheld!
everyone from outside of queens is infact a degenerate
;D

Re: Mayweather win upheld!
I'm relieved because I think that it would have been unjust to Floyd Mayweather Jr. had the decision been reversed. He won the fight fair and square and it was Zab Judah who landed the fouls that started the melee in the 1st place. The last thing that we want as boxing fans is for the result of an important fight to be determined on a technicality rather than by the fighters themselves.
However, I'm far from convinced that Roger Mayweather thought that the round had ended when he entered the ring. It seems far more likely that he just said that to appear a bit more innocent in front of the boxing commission.
I don't know why they're still withholding Zab Judah's purse. I believe that he entered the melee because he saw his father join in. It's still a low class thing for Zab to do and maybe the commission is deciding whether and how much to fine him. I think that Yoel Judah should be fined too. We'll see.
-
Re: Mayweather win upheld!
Besides the low blow and hitting behind the head, didn't Judah do something more moronic. He ran around the ring trying to fight people.
-
Re: Mayweather win upheld!
im starting to think that the corruptley biased state of nevada is gonna suspend judah >:mad
-
Re: Mayweather win upheld!
I think it has to do with his previous no no, when he went after Nady. I thought that incident happened in Nevada as well. So combine the two incidents and they may be harder on Judah.

Re: Mayweather win upheld!
"Strangle hold" haha
Wow, harsh punishment. I think it's fair. :)
I'm glad Mayweather didn't have anything to do with the start of the melee, that says alot about him. Actually, Floyd seemed more surprised than the Ref, when his corner and Zab's corner entered the ring.

:coolclick: Agreed.
The punishment was just.
Truly...it does speak bounds for Floyd's character...scratch that...ring ethics...
I honestly believe that they will just slap Judah on the wrist for his actions.
-
Re: Mayweather win upheld!
I think it's time to let it rest. This topic has been beaten to death. 10 years from now, PBF will still have the win on his record and Zab will still have the loss. Losses that some say were really wins are not recorded on a fighter's record. In that case, about 15 of Julio Cesar Chavez's Fights would have an asterisk.
ZAB LOST. The world will remember it that way, if they remember it at all.

Judah's purse is held because he was stupid enough to get involved in all this and throw punches at someone other the Floyd, and I don't want to hear from you two that he was protecting Daddy when his place was the neutral corner, bullsh*t my a**, he will most likely be fined also and possibly suspended too, and he deserves to be. you have to be the biggest blindest Judah groupie I have ever seen. I had a lot of fun reading the garbage that you and Starr had written as it was laughable and sad at the same time. Sal I'm sure you will continue this garbage so have fun, but your guy just lost for the third time in a row now

Re: Mayweather win upheld!
Now that we're past this. Let's see if Floyd REALLY DOES fight Margarito.
-
Re: Mayweather win upheld!
In reality IMO Mayweather did not deserve to win maybe thats why he had that Santa suit on.
1. He got knocked down (rules say if you go down after a punch its considered a knock down.)
2. Corner entered the ring before the bell. ( Something similar happened to Diego Morales Ericks brother against Bobby boy Velardez. What perks does Mayweather have.
http://www.boxrec.com/media/index.ph...e=Fight:280905
3.Mayweather got out hustled he could not find a way to get to Judah.
4.Judah the aggressor most of the fight.
Maywather has had notable wins but also notable gifts.
1.Castillo 1
2.Judah 1 hoping for 2 in NYC
Now its Margarito's turn and good luck to him. If Mayweather does not duck.
guys im not a Judah fan I just love the sport I have since Ive been 9 years old and now boxing is becoming more and more like wwe.
-
Re: Mayweather win upheld!
Well Mayweather will beat Margarito by style. Judah fights the fights Mayweather doesn't(The Gatti baldomir winner) Then Floyd has no choice to rematch Judah or fight the (Hatton Collazo) winner. By that point it will set up a mega fight with either Mayweather vs Judah, Hatton vs. Judah, or the much not liked Collazo vs. Judah. It would be a fight for New York though

Re: Mayweather win upheld!
im glad the decision was upheld. floyd jr did nothing to disgrace himself and so the result should stand. as for roger? well, he acted like a dick and got punished. fair enough. as for zab im sure a spank on the wrists is all he will get...
lets move on folks, there are more fights to make in the future, let this one go...
