Default Antonio Margarito is the real deal and I'm just a hatin fool for not recognizing.

Congrats Tony... I feel dirty for saying this, but he is lethal as they come and Paul Williams got lucky that Tony started late... I think he knocks Cotto spark out cause his beard is phenominal and his determination his more than Cotto...

Cotto is a stone faced unemotional killer

Tony seems to derive some sick perverse pleasure from inflicting and recieving punishment which you can tell by his smiles and expressions to me thats more dangerous..

NEVER will you hear me hate on Margarito EVER again.... I still dont think he can beat Floyd but he kicks, whips and beats the ever living shiit out of everyone from 147-154

Again Congrats Tony the 2nd best Welterweight in the world

Margarito is a truely dangerous animal.
How this will match up with 2008's terminator, Miguel Cotto I'm not sure.

Margaito put on a fearsome display, taking monstrous shots, seemingly unaffected and plundering on to a huge victory.
(I'm very glad he beat Cintron.)

Cotto however showed something different for me. He showed boxing ability, as well as explosive power.

If and when they fight, I fully expect a thriller, but I do feel that Cotto, although smaller, shades a victory.

    Two very entertaining fights.

Interesting view, but Tony was tatooed by body shots and chin shots and he kept coming thru the firestorm unaffected, I'm telling you he gets off on it I think he will relish the fact that he will grind Cotto down and be the 1st to do it

I dont think Cotto will have his way with Margarito like hes used to with other fighters. Margarito will test Cottos chin early and get his respect. His defence is not as good as Cotto but he will take one to land one and keep throwing. I wouldnt be surprised to see him break down Cotto. Tactically they are similar in that they work the body early and keep pressure on their opponents till they break. Both guys have good power, both have good chins. Cintron was very unimmpressive last night so that fights not a good example of how Tony would fair against Cotto, though I think he would be effective vs Cotto.

I agree with you Donny. Whilst I agree Margarito looked like a monster I actually felt Cotto put on the better performance.

Cintron we always knew folds under pressure and I don't think his punching power is quite as good as people claim. Margarito took not even one 10th of the flush shots that Jesse Feliciano took, he was literally eating them up for 10 rounds and Cintron still couldn't put him down.

Although the Gomez fight was a mismatch Gomez has been able to hang with much bigger men than Cotto. I certainly didn't expect him to get blown away and beaten down as easily as Cotto did.

and it wasn't just power punching it was a perfect complete boxing performance. It reminded me a lot of Floyd's clinical dismantling of Sharmba Mitchell in his first fight at welter, just faster to the punch, more accurate, sharp stinging jabs.

It was a faultess performance against an overmatched but still game and solid opponent.

If/when they do get it on I'm expecting one hell of a fight.

I give toni so so much respect because he is one tough motherfucker. On of the best chins ever in boxing IMO. BUT it was his chin that has carried him a lot, and did so in the citron fight.

I am a somewhat of a toni fan, and wanted him to win last night, but it was clear citron was the better boxer, he did a few things wrong, should of run a bit more and just jabbed away, toni did make it hard for him. Most normal fighters tho would not of been able to take the blows that citron unleashed, it was toni's freakishly durable chin that alowed him to take everything citron had and keep coming. You could see Citron was getting fucked up mentaly when he had hit him with everything bar the kitchen sink and toni was still battering him.

I don't think i would put toni in the top 5 WW for boxing skill though, he is very very open and lacks a few things, Cotto will need to box and move, not get stupid and get into a war with him, break down the body and slow him down. Will be a hell of a fight, i think cotto will be able to fight smart enough to win.

Well #1 Margarito reminds me a lot of Roberto Duran, he's crass and callous and I would LOVE to see Margarito-Mayorga in the future.

#2 Margarito's CHIN has carried him a long way....you just can't take body shots and if he's throwing these looping punches he's going to get countered by Cotto and well, it's not going to tickle that's for damn sure

No kidding. Muthafucka was asking Cintron to get his ass back up. So he can beat his ass some more

    A total Roberto Duran move....as I said before I would LOVE a Margarito-Mayorga matchup!

But you don't DARE taunt a guy like Cotto....that's like swimming with Jaws!

Tony IS the most proven welterweight in the world and so deserves his shot at the best fighter in the world.

im sure the Cotto fans will probably disagree with me but Margarito has done far more to earn a shot at Mayweather than Cotto has.
what true welterweights has Cotto faced?
Quintana ,Mosley (a natural lightweight really) and that farce against Gomez.
Margarito deserves a shot a lot more than Miguel does but nobody is coming on websites arguing Tony`s case the way they do with Cotto. i think thats what mayweather was talking about when he said "nobody knows Margarito".
from a financial perspective what he said makes perfect sense if you think about it.The Margarito v Cotto fight is a perfect match to build up the winners profile going into a match with Floyd.
personally i think Tony will be too rugged and strong for Cotto.
i also think he`s the only welter out there that would have a chance with Floyd.

You're post is on the mark, everybody is completely consumed by a Cotto V Mayweather fight that they are completely discounting Margarito; as if Cottos next was another Gomez! Cotto looked good in that fight but he would not get away with all s!@# he was pulling against Marg. IMO Marg is stronger and his workrate destroys Cotto's. Now dont get me wrong Cotto isnt gonna take it lying down, but if you think about the things that have given Marg a hard time (slickness, speed, and distance) are not things that Cotto possesses. Maybe some slickness he showed that in the Mosley fight. But his main tool is preassure, how are you gonna preassure a guy that laughs at punches?! Cintron had no heart but he doesnt hit like a girl and Marg laughed!! When Marg. knocked him down he was begging for him to get up! he wanted to continue punishing him. Make no mistake about it this is the hardest fight Cotto will ever face and he may not get away with it.

    Its gonna be awesome!
